  1. Kazu; not sure what your friends and you have planned for Puerto Vallarta, but if you are game for a local lunch experience - not many tourists know about this place - consider having lunch at Pipi's Restaurante. They are located in Viejo (old) PV at 804 Calle Guadalupe Sanchez. You will need to take a cab outside the cruise terminal to get there and back - make sure you agree on the price before you get in!. The restaurant staff will call you one after - tell the cabbie on the ride back you want to go to the "Terminal Maritima por el barco or cruzero" (maritime terminal for the ship / cruise ship) We've gone to Pipi's for lunch at least four times in PV the last three years. There will be a gent that will come to your table to make fresh guacamole and there is usually a 3-4 person band floating around who will be more than happy to play/sing Mexican traditional songs like "Cielito Lindo" at your table (both with a tip at your discretion of course) Just a tip if y'all are so inclined https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g150793-d1032796-Reviews-Pipi_s-Puerto_Vallarta.html
  2. Happy Birthday Gerry! Enjoy the day with the family and stay warm on the frozen tundra!
  3. Me thinks he got sick and/or injured and therefore unable to perform. Those are usually the reasons they're a no-show for a or more than one performance(s)
  4. Thanks a bunch for that info and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
  5. Didn't know they have turned the former Queen's Lounge on Zuidy into the Rolling Stone Rock Room with band. Wondering if the same occurred on the other three Vista sisters. Are the BB King's All-Stars still playing in there also, switching off with the rock band, or are they gone?
  6. Man! Elliot Finkel has been around for a loooooooong time! We first saw him in November 1993 on the old Nieuw Amsterdam III out of Tampa! Yes, outstanding pianist! Also saw his bad side on that particular cruise when we were delayed getting back into Tampa due to fog. Mr. Finkel wasn't a happy camper and let the poor front office attendant know about it - like it was her fault - bringing her to tears. Sad!
  7. Rodel.....................but close again 😉 Enjoying your excellent reporting, keep it up! 🧐
  8. Have a great grand voyage on Zuidy, Rich! I have no doubt you will! Great way to see the world while having a home away from home! Your captain will be either Frank van der Hoeven or Friso Kramer gezegd Freher, both Cloggies
  9. "tuxedos and long sparkly dresses", at least, so it appears from what was written in that particular response. I trust you are overly familiar with that concept? 🤓
  10. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Gerry and all the best to Maurice with his dental issue! "Puff pastry strudel" Who woulda taught!
  11. Most certainly however, I wouldn't want to be known as a WWII Japanese fighter plane, would you? 😳
  12. I usually wear a strapless gown, at time see-through and the high heels take some getting used to! Requires lots of shaving, however............ OK, just kiddin' 😉 - Have been wearing a suit and tie on gala nights for a while now
  13. Ouch; we have friends/my former boss residing in your state and this is their first winter in SD. They actually moved earlier this year from Kauai to South Dakota! Culture shock galore! Stay warm!
  14. The US Navy's strike carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 3, is back home at NAS North Island. She actually hosted an NCAA basketball game on her flight deck in front of her island between Gonzaga University and Michigan State University last month on November 11 - Gonzaga won - Nice pic, Kazu, keep up the fine work! 🙂
  15. To all of you, going through this cold/freezing streak, stay safe and warm! Not such a bad day down here in So Cal, sorry 😉
  16. En ook aan jou en je familie een Vrolijk Kersfeest en een Gelukkig Nieuw Jaar gewenst, Ton! / And also to you and your family Merry Christmas and Happy New Year wishes, Tony 🙂
  17. Morning Lenda; that's another interesting one; USS Coronado (LCS-4), a US Navy Independence-class trimaran littoral combat ship. She's no longer active, having been decommissioned on September 14 of this year at her home port of San Diego
  18. Morning Tony, what you saw in Key West was the USNS Spearhead TEPF-1, a somewhat futuristic looking expeditionary fast transport twin-hull catamaran of the US Navy and the lead ship of the Spearhead class. There are current twelve EPF's in service, three more under construction and one on order She officially belongs to the US Navy's Military Sealift Command. The Navy-owned ships carry blue and gold stack colors, are in service with the prefix USNS (United States Naval Ship), rather than in commission (with a USS prefix), have hull numbers as an equivalent commissioned ship would have with the prefix T- and are primarily civilian crewed by either civil service mariners or contract crews. The EPF is able to transport US Army and US Marine Corps company-sized units with their vehicles, or can be reconfigured to become a troop transport for an infantry battalion. The EPF has a flight deck for helicopters and a load ramp that will allow vehicles to quickly drive on and off the ship. The ramp is suitable for the types of austere piers and quay walls common in developing countries.
