  1. Just an FYI, you don't need to get the luggage transfer package in order for bell services to take your luggage to the ship. I called them before our cruise last August and said all the rate can get that, just let them know at checkin that you're going to want to do that and they provided instructions. But things change all the time so I'd e-mail them just in case they changed the rules since then.
  2. DCL knows how many days and in what category of stateroom you've had so they could back and just rerate everyone. Knowing Disney fans there would be a bunch of teeth mashing and saying they'll never cruise DCL again, but after a few hours they'll cool off and will be back on board in no time. But I do agree that their system of strictly basing it on the number of cruise is a very poor way of figuring it out, and puts folks that don't live in Florida at a big disadvantage. For one thing the Florida folks are just a short drive from the cruise port so they can more easily take a short 3 day cruise for along weekend, plus they get those Florida resident rates.
  3. For sheer convince the Pan Pacific can't be beat. It's located in the same facility as the cruise port, so it's just an elevator ride down and a walk down a hallway. A bonus is that if you tell them ahead of time you can have bell services pick up your luggage from your room and have it taken to the ship, no lugging suitcases around. But be warned, they're expensive since they know how cruisers like to use them. When I woke up in the morning I could see our ship out of the rooms window.
  4. Loved the Retreat sun deck on the Celebrity Apex. Will be missing that level of suite experience on the Allure.
  5. I’ve always just used the WiFi package (the surf/stream one) and had no problems with WiFi calling, or FaceTime voice or video calls.
  6. Location, location, location. We did the Millennium in a RS and we had the same issue you had with the distance with the Retreat Lounge and the deck being at the opposite end of the ship. We've done the Apex in a CS, cabin 11113, and loved the location in relation to Luminae, the lounge and the deck as they were all forward on the ship, just an elevator ride away, which was almost right outside our door (never heard elevator noise).
  7. We’ve been using Celebrity recently and due to the status match on Royal we’re giving them another chance after a not great cruise 7 years ago. This time we have a Grand Suite so we have Sky class. In the suite lounge are sodas and water available all day or just during the evening and is there a charge for them? We My Time Dining and the earliest reservation time is 7:15, can we show up earlier and get seated? For Costal Kitchen will reservation times open up in on the web site or it is it strictly call once on board? Will we be contacted by shore side concierge before sailing for any show reservations? Any other things that would be good to know? Thanks
  8. My opinion is as long as your entire party knows where the muster station is, by actually going there and checking in I’m fine with the current process.
  9. We had a RS and wanted to change a reservation time at Tuscan, their response was we were a VIP and could come down whenever we wanted to.
  10. It’s been reported that Disney is going back to the in person drills, https://dclfan.com/news/disney-cruise-line-to-return-to-in-person-muster-drills/. I’ve also seen that it was the coast guard that allowed for the video/ check in process as a temporary measure due to COVID and they’re say lines need to go back to the old in person drill,
  11. That would work also. The OP said they needed to get to MCO as soon as they can to catch an early flight, hence my response about rental car option.
  12. I don't know about that. You have to get the shuttle from the port to the rental car agency and the do the paperwork and such to get the car. Then you ether have to prepay for gas or stop at a station and fill it up before returning it, and go through the hassle of checking it in.
  13. You can get a private limo company to transfer you, I've used http://www.fltours.com in the past.
  14. I agree with trying to find a ship that can do the original locks. We did a cruise on Disney 3 years ago and the Wonder was updated with a duck tale so it no longer qualified for the original. If you're interested here's a video that Disney put together about the transit,
  15. And do that before you leave home. Friend we were with tried to enable it using the WiFi calling once onboard but got prompt to call Verizon. Had to wait until they were back on land to get it enabled.
  16. Does anyone have any information on the sofa sleeper/couch for the RS on Edge Class, Apex specifically?
  17. We got monogrammed PJ on the Millennium in August in a RS.
  18. Unless you order a drink that’s outside your package you don’t get anything
  19. Besides the wife's evening before dinner feast all we ordered was from the room service menu and the food wasn't hot, more warm.
  20. Did the tour on the Millennium a couple weeks ago where we also went to the engineering control room. Interesting fact, the main power for the ship comes from jet turbines and not Diesel engines, only one of three cruise ships using that as primary power. Sorry, meant to post this in a different thread.
  21. We were on the northbound the week before you and we also ended up with COVID after the last day. That was the first day of the land portion of the cruise so we bailed out of that portion, bummer. Hope you family recovers quickly with no complications.
