  1. Keep in mind that when your passport fills up, you have to get a new one.  The days of stapling additional pages and addendums are over.  If you travel a lot, wasting space on vanity stamps is just ludicrous.  I wouldn't let anyone stamp my passport that wasn't absolutely necessary. One of my old passports that expired in 1990 is nearly as thick as a Reader's Digest from traveling back and forth to Japan numerous times. Between visas and entry and exit stamps and addendums, it got ridiculously thick. And my photo made me look like a terrorist, before being a terrorist was a thing.

i read that you control the speed of the coaster so it can be "fast" or leisurely as you like.. however i doubt it will be super fast thrill ride. .more of a novelty.

Max speed is only 40 mph.  Very slow compared to the more thrilling ones that can go 100-150 mph.  Compare it to the kiddie tea cups, that actually make me feel sicker than some of the thrill rides.   😂😂😂

For those talking about speeds, I read one article that said it'll be able to reach speeds of nearly 40 mph.

40 mph  is a crawl compared to the really good roller coasters.  Many reach speeds of 100 mph or more.  Formula Rossa in UAE has a top speed of nearly 150 mph.

I don't remember if YouTube links are allowed here, but I've actually been on the EXACT type of roller coaster they're putting on the ship.  It's in Germany and it's the only one in the world until next year when a second one is being built in Italy.

It's actually the perfect 'coaster' for a ship as it's powered so it won't be affected as much by waves, weight,  or weather.

If you skip to 33 seconds on this video you can see a POV of the ride, me riding it, and some of our friends riding it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oERDZdb14fY

They say that you can control the speed, yourself?  It really doesn't go very fast, it looks like.

Well for me....I would ride that thing in a heartbeat!  Also, it's electric driven, not gravity like most coasters, so it might not be closed as often as you all think.  As for the amusement park thing, sorry, that ship sailed years ago with Carnival. Besides, they're just options.  No one's forcing anyone to do it.  😉

Carnival and electricity should never be combined in the same train of thought.  Nothing good can come of that unholy union.  😂😂😂

Just to pick nits, the proper term is "stern", which is a noun referring to the back of a vessel.  "Aft" is an adjective (use the aft elevator), or adverb (I am walking aft).  And, to the best of my knowledge, you can't have a different name on the bow and stern of a vessel.

My stern teachers in school were just aftholes.  Is it a requirement to display the name, at all?  Navy ships have the number on the bow and number and name on the stern.

This announcement is actually pretty substantial.  While only one ship (for now) this represents a significant enhancement of cruising potential ports that Carnival just did not have.  While the basher's will disagree, this represents new and exciting options.  Hopefully the clients will agree.

Book 'em, Jimbo.  Does that date me, too?

LOL, always a ray of sunshine..... oops a pretty good play on words.... I do crack myself up from time to time.  On a more serious note.... the check in times and boarding even when this happens are more like what other lines have, certainly not the end of the world.

I'm not throwing shade. It HAS been going on for a few months. The ship still gets under way and cruises. The only people that it affects are the ones who have to bust the door down at 10:30. If you don't normally board before 1:00, you'll never even know that anything is different.

CCL stock is down 1.38% at the market close today. I wonder if the new policy has something to do with that.  Carnival has made a lot of mistakes recently, Starting with the change in their loyalty program a few years ago. The last time we cruised on Carnival was on the Conquest right after the loyalty changes, and their "American table" menu in the MDR. We didn't care so much about the  loyalty perks, but the food was not up to the standards we expected from Carnival, add to that the fact that the ship seemed dirty, the staff were apathetic, and the Captain chose to keep the ship in rain for the last 2 days of our cruise instead of requesting a route that would take us out of the foul weather. A Royal Caribbean ship was off our port side about a mile away, in sunshine the whole time, so I know an adjustment could have been made. We now sail with NCL.

I wouldn't think it would affect the stock.  Nothing is new about the policy except that they doubled the fine to $500. They won't enforce this policy any differently than they did in the past.

  10. People give cigarettes way too much credit.  They're not the fire starters that some people seem to think that they are.  Throw a lit cigarette onto a pile of hay and see what happens.  Throw one in a puddle of gasoline and see what happens.  More times than not the cigarette will go out with no fire.

  11. If the Carnival corporate ship could execute a turn as quickly as one of their cruise ships can suddenly heel over,  hurling everything on to the floor in a matter of seconds, they could get rid of JH and his tiresome teaser announcements of a pending "brilliant" announcement, that turns out to be underwhelming, a year later.
