  1. I don't think age matters much on cruises. But me and my wife are 32/31 and we got cheers so we had a drink in our hand most the day. Besides drinking we went to the comedy club at night which was hilarious except for one bad set by a guy who then came back the next day and put on a really funny set. We also like the casino cause we don't get to do that a lot where we live, I know she played some machine for hours and she was up or down like $40 at any given time. We also went to every show they put on. We actually made friends with another couple the first night in the comedy club and hung out with them throughout this past cruise. It was fun.

On the tours it will always differ due to likes, not everybody in their 30's likes the same things. My wife is not as great at swimming as me so we didn't do snorkely or anything like that. We did mayan ruin tours, a few beach days, and a dolphin excursion in cozumel which was fantastic.

In other words theres plenty for you to do on a cruise. During the days sometimes you have to make your own entertainment especially on longer cruises but I'm sure you'll manage.

  2. Haven't read through them all yet so sorry if it might sorta be a repeat. I was waiting in line for ice cream once behind a family of 3-4 kids and their mom. Each one got an ice cream cone, but then once mom was done she told them all to top off their already half eaten cones. These kids were sticking their ice cream (already covered in their nasty spit) all the way up to the point where ice cream comes out while they tried to make the cones as big as possible. I'm not one to be grossed out by germs but even this got to me and I walked away with no ice cream that day.

  3. I LOVED the Twilight Zone frozen drink. It's the only drink I've looked for the recipe after. Me and wife would order a bunch of those every day on the ship. But really it's always up to your tastes. I didn't find many drinks I didn't like.

  4. There aren't a lot of drinks over $12 so it really isn't as great as it sounds. I know theres a list somewhere where people have scoured the ships looking for high price drinks but there really aren't that many. Most drinks are in the $7-12 range.

  5. I've had a porthole, balcony, and interior before. I will always book interior if I can from now on. Unless the cost to upgrade is minimal, literally $100 for the whole cruise I would rather spend that money on alcohol. Me and wife are out and about most of the day when we cruise. The only time I am in that room is when I'm back at night, usually drunk, ordering room service and falling asleep watching tv. I don't need a balcony or window to do that. So to me a balcony isn't worth the extra cost. But if you're used to sitting on your balcony reading or relaxing then it will be a big change as you have to leave your room to do that now..

  6. I would buy one cheers package at least. The energy drinks are outrageously priced and they are the small cans (6 or 8oz? I think). He can easily get his beers and get you a drink or two with it, he could probably get away with getting your daughter drinks too but it does become a hassle especially if you are at a crowded area as drinks can take a few mins to make. I know my brother in law got me a few drinks on a cruise once with his cheers and I felt bad cause he would go get me one and it would take him 10 mins. Felt like I was wasting his time on his cruise.

Personally I would do two of them, those fruity drinks they make are sooo good, my non-drinking wife put the cheers to good use on my last cruise, she found two drinks she loved. I wouldn't be surprised if your daughter wouldn't enjoy drinking a lot of them throughout the cruise and it would be easier to get the third person drinks if two of you had the cheers.

  7. Do both! Don't worry about finding a cab. These people in the area know the ship schedule (what days they are in port and aproximate times). There will be cabs at the beach all over. They want your money. If you can't find one go into any shop and ask them if they know of a cabbie, I guarantee you can find someone who wants to make their friend some cash. It's a lot easier to find them than you expect.

  8. I bought cheers for my last cruise. I didn't know if it would be worth it because my wife isn't a huge drinker. But it worked out great for us. I of course was going to get my money worth, I did at least 13-14 drinks a day, sometimes I even had her order for me so I wouldn't hit the limit. So she didn't need to drink much to make us breakeven. She ended up trying all the different cocktails and found one she loved so ordered that one a lot. She also drinks a lot of coffee so that helped as well. Now if I was a modest drinker it would be a different story, but I still think it's worth it. It's fun to go the the comedy club or the bars on the ship and see a drink and just say I'll try that without factoring in price.

  9. I wasn't nervous at all my first cruise actually. While in the Army my friend said let's do something over Christmas and I was like sure, like what? He said how bout a cruise and I was like yea that sounds like fun. He had done some cruises with his family before, I hadn't. Booked everything and it went off pretty smoothly. I was less nervous on that one than I am for all the other ones I've done since.

  10. I always bring the lady at the coffee bar an extra tip because she makes my milkshakes for me :-)

My wife and I both gave the coffee bar lady a big tip on the last day this past cruise. With coffee, rockstars, and powerades not being on the 15 limit we both stopped at that bar multiple times per day as we got coffee two times a day and would both get a few powerade zeros for our shore excursions.

  11. You DO NOT have to tip anymore than what they are taking out already. I have never tipped my room steward extra as I haven't had a great one yet. They all do their job fine, but nothing spectacular where I think they deserve extra. Drinks already have tips added on whether that is through cheers or not. Only times I have tipped extra was room service, $1 a plate or so, and I tipped the bartenders I went to often or the ones that brought me drinks in the shows or on deck.

  12. The casino bar is awful for getting drinks it is by far the worst one. I waited forever one time and the bartender kept taking women's orders (who just got there) over mine. Eventually I had to shout at him that I was there way before these two women were and he made my drink. Luckily the sportsbar was nearby the casino on the Glory so I just used that often empty bar to get drinks afterwards. Same on deck, I would get a drink from the aft bar by the pool, nobody would be there most the time. Other than those few spots I never had a problem getting a drink and even on deck I would get one it would just be a little bit longer wait.

  13. Yea I'm not sure why there is even a sticker, to make people feel better about buying it maybe. Don't have to take it to bar or anything, I just ordered a drink from those people carrying the sailaway drinks, he ran it and it had sticker when I got it back. No big deal, couldnt even see my sticker by the end of my cruise either.

  14. Carnival won't do PPV's because they are not cost effective. Bars have to pay for these PPV's based on their max occupancy, it's not like they can pay $60 and show it to everybody. I imagine them ordering it and saying they have 3500 people that could watch it might cost a pretty penny. So you're out of luck on this one.

  15. We don't go on vacation to stand in line and eat mediocre buffet food. We also do not eat at Golden Corral or any buffets at home. We like to sit down and be served. We have never had dinner in the buffet with 12 + cruises

A lot of times the same exact food is in the buffet as is in the MDR. So I hate to break it to you but you are in fact eating that "mediocre" buffet food sometimes. There are some items that are only in the MDR though, so if that's what you like than by all means do it but thinking the MDR food is sooo much better than the buffet food is kind of ridiculous.

I don't consider the MDR any fancier than any of the chain restaraunts I go to back home so I really don't go there much. I don't like having to sit down and eat for an hour or sometimes an hour and half. I can eat in the buffet and be done in 20 minutes then go back to reading, wandering, or whatever else I feel like doing.

  16. Halfway through my cruise my sticker was pretty ragged and I wondered why they even put a sticker on the cards, it really does nothing as the computer system is going to spit out the receipt of 0$ whether you have a sticker on your card or not.

  17. Coffees are about $2 each, soda is $1.95, water is only $4 per (12) pack, energy drinks, etc aren't really that expensive.

Coffees are 3 or 4. Energy drinks aren't really that expensive?!?!?! WHAT? They sell the rockstars for 4.95 for the little 8oz cans. They're actually almost more expensive than the alcohol lol. I know I had like 10 of them on my cruise tho cause whenever fiance would get coffee I would get one.

  18. Good to know thanks! How do you know when the last bus will be? If I leave the ship at 10 or 10:30 there will still be a bus to catch? I don't want to wait so late that I will miss the last bus.

There is no time for last bus as they have a list of names and would likely wait for you before sending the bus on the way. Even if you were super late for whatever reason they most likely have a van/taxi working for them that they would set you up with if need be.

  19. Two cruises in the last 4 months (Glory and Pride) and neither fridge was empty. Had to ask for them to be emptied and on the Glory the steward just moved all the stuff to the desk above the mini fridge instead of actually taking it away lol.

The fridges will keep items cool but not super cold and it takes them a while to get anything cold.

  20. The ones I've done all had me take my luggage from place to place. I may have been lucky but I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for them to "fill up" enough to leave. The only value of them though is the convenience of literally not having to call or find a taxi/uber/whatever as a lot of options are cheaper.

  21. Have you actually been at any of the ports that actually are utilizing the staggered check ins? I find it a little hard to believe that at noon for example if someone has a 1pm check in time they don't care and just let them in.

Oh the staggered check in times are being enforced from what i've seen/heard, I was referring to the actual boarding when they start calling the zones. That becomes a madhouse imo.

And to the OP about why people show up at 10am - People pick early check-ins because they fly/drive in and don't have anything better to do. I know I've flown in on super early flights and I can sit at the airport or sit at the cruise terminal so I pick the early checkins.
