  1. The CD basically plans all of the passenger activities, and hires and schedules the entertainment staff.

Actually at the cruise director Q&A on last cruise he said CD doesn't hire staff anymore, they made a new behind the scenes entertainment manager position that doesn't interact with passengers much that does that kinda stuff. I'm not even sure if the CD still schedules the events either. I think they are glorified DJ's now.

  2. It is an interesting idea, but like others said carnival is there for the bottom line and red/blue cruisers and cruise newbies in general are probably more likely to buy the pictures, merchandise, and other stuff because it's one of their first/only cruises so they want to make the best of it. Not saying plat/diamond don't spend too, but they may not spend as much per cruise.

  3. Thank you all for the replies! I figured it out, it was under trip delay. I know getting in earlier and getting a hotel is a better safeguard but we didn't want to do that this time.

It is also probably cheaper than paying for insurance to cover it.

    DON

Actually I don't get trip cancellation insurance included, so trip insurance was fairly cheap (15$ per person) and it covers enough for me to get hotels/flights. So it would suck to miss the sea days but it makes me feel 100x better knowing at least I can catch up to the cruise.

  4. I'm trying to figure out which insurance to get. We have an early morning flight into miami (arrives at 8:20am) on same day as cruise, the only thing I'm worried about is the flight being delayed and missing the boat.

I see that missed connection will cover the airfare to catch up, which would be to Grand Cayman, but it's after 1 sea day. I would need hotels for 2 nights. What part covers the Hotel or does anything cover it?? still missed connection or trip interruption? Reading through the fine print is starting to confuse me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  5. First good job speaking up. If he won't leave these girls alone, someone needed to tell him that they just weren't interested in him.

Given that he was flirting with younger girls and felt it necessary to offer alcohol to strengthen his suit, I suspect he was something of a loser and didn't feel comfortable with girls his own age and/or didn't really know how to talk to girls. And if he's such a loser, he may not've picked up on the girls trying-to-be-polite-yet-want-you-to-leave signals.

I agree with this, if he wasn't offering drinks then I would say he was just a dumb kid that didn't know how to take 'no thanks' and it isn't that big of a deal, but if he's making the girls uncomfortable then something eventually needs to be said to him so he'll stop. Whether that be security, a brother, or a parent, the guy might have taken the hint and stopped.

Also, as has been said, cruises emulate the world, and theres always creeper older(20-23) guys that like to hang out with their younger friends/siblings and hit on the 17-18 year olds still in high school and whatnot. So it's just stuff that will happen occasionally on a cruise ship as well.

  6. Took a 5 year old on a cruise a year ago. She LOVED the carnival kids club, wasn't the pride but they are all similar. She kept asking when she could go back everytime we got her. I was really surprised how much she liked it because I was worried she was going to be bored, but she enjoyed the cruise because of the kids club.

For HMC it's really all just an open beach so that was nice. All she did was dig in the sand and build sandcastles almost the whole time. I would bet you already have it, but if not I would buy some cheapo sand playkit.

  7. You are correct in all of your assumptions. It would be nice if Carnival did have a middle plan like the 'and more' one you are talking about from Princess, but they don't. So, technically, no you wouldn't be allowed to get your kids shakes with your Cheers program, even if they had the bubbles one.
