Why do they only sell CruiseNext Lite on the Sun and Sky when other ships occasionally have sailings of less then six days?

Just an FYI - early November I booked a 5 nighter on the Sun for Dec 12, in an inside cabin. I was afraid my CruiseNext (regular ones) would not work, since I had read about the “Lite” ones.  Low and behold, they accepted 2 of them. If that is going to work, there is no reason to purchase the “Lite” ones.

Sorry one other thing I was considering (for the Bliss cruise specifically) was adding the wifi streaming package.  It isn't that much money and I thought if it works at all decently, the boys could share my iPad and watch Netflix or YouTube if they got bored.  What a world we live in.

You can download movies before your trip, if you have space on your iPad. Don’t need to waste minutes on the ship.

  3. Companies are just hoping that some shoppers will not compare. (Not just cruise companies).  If they only click on the option for “perks” they don’t know they are paying more.  I believe they all get many uninformed shoppers that way all the time.

  4. I won one last year and just took the cruise last month. We just did the inside cabin, so all we had to pay was the taxes and fees. If inside is what you plan to do, call them and they will tell you the options. If you book early you have better cabin selections etc. Have fun.

might be worth getting a Simplicity card just to buy the gift cards

Just thought I would post here my results. After reading this topic and see the quoted comment, I purchased 2 $500 gift cards. I did already have the Citi Simplicity card.  Ordered online 10/26, cards received UPS 10/31, applied 11/1 thru my travel agent and saw online they were applied to the Princess website that night also.  Not sure about the “Tiers” people mentioned, because I haven’t used this card much since opening it and that deal was available to me.   My cruise is not until August 2020, so will try again in a few months to do it again.  Like to spread out my payments.

  6. Interested in sailing the Golden Princess next August. It looks like it is the last cruise operated by Princess before passing ship over to their sister line.  Is there any reason this should scare me?  Will, or could things operate differently?  Have not found roll call yet so no fellow travelers to ask about it. FYI - I am looking at Aug 25 Vancouver to Singapore, 29 nights.

    Thanks

Ok wow, your commentary is mega insulting. We have cruised in a lot of Havens and this will be our first Epic. You are suggesting that those sailing on the Epic are inferior to other NCL passsengers?!? Wow. It happens that this cruise from a place we wanted and at a time we needed - to suggest we are a pathetic and lesser lot is idiotic.  I would likely lose all privileges here if I typed out what I would really like to say to you. To make a comment like that speaks volumes about you even if you don’t realize it.

It was someone else that said the 1st paragraph. Tried to quote it. See quote marks.  I agree with you. Second paragrath is my thoughts.

  8. “I think you hit on something about why the Epic can compete.   It's the price.    The ONLY way I think the Epic can compete is because of the price.   I think the whole design of the ship is so very inferior they have to lower the price.    But a lower price drives a whole different clientele.   A group of customers not typical on other NCL ships.”

I really don’t believe this comment. Having been on her twice, there were many, many repeat NCL customers, including high level NCL customers. If Epic was that much worse than other NCL ships, they would not be Wasting their time and money. It did not feel like the Walmart of cruising as someone else wrote.  Please cruise on her and see for yourselves.

  9. I was on the November TA and had a good enough time that we are going on the reverse TA in April. Other than 2 slow MDR nights, (13 night cruise) we had no trouble dining. Even those 2 slow ones we still made it to the show and ate our dessert also.

Entertainment was wonderful.  Had a great cabin steward, met our few special requests. Had a towel animal everynight, this was not a request 🤪.

Never waited more than a few minutes for a drink.  Longest was at the pool bar on a hot sunny day - I would think that was to be expected.

Elevator waits we felt were not horrible either. Only really bad time was right when theater let out and disembarking.  We try our best to walk the stairs when we can anyway.

We found the crew to be pleasant and never encountered ones that seemed to be brand new.

  10. You can always get tags from the porters at the pier. I can't figure out why people let NCL nickle and dime them over bag tags. It costs you money to print them, why not use the free ones available from the porters?

I don’t worry about a little ink cost. I’ve heard of the porters writing the wrong cabin number, and or not writting legible and luggage being not delivered. If I can afford to cruise, I can afford a little black and white ink.

  11. There’s probably a difference, as this is being disguised as “tips” (which they’re not) levied against an artificially-priced “free” item. The increase has nothing to do with the item being chosen or the employees that provide the service. It’s a fare increase, again and again, to the point that the face-value cost of the package is laughable.

You do not have to select that perk. You would not pay a single cent more!

  12. Prices will go up until bookings slow or drop. Prices are higher than normal with the endless **Free** offers. I was going to book a 5 night Jade in the lull between **Free** offers but waited too long. The *Free** offers came back and the cruise price went up $200 pp.

I never saw a lull between free offers.

. My cruise is not for another 1.5 years and fully expect gratuities to go up again before sailing

If they go up they give you the option to prepay prior to your cruise at the rate they were when you booked.

  13. It feels awkward just sitting there but what are your thoughts? Especially in the evening I always find it a bit uncomfortable. I don't want to order "$10" virgin drink just to feel better. ;););););)So I just avoid the bars and many public areas.

    Any ideas/thoughts for non-drinkers?

    Thanks!

Just get a soda or water. Nobody can tell that it is not an alcoholic drink.

  14. Thank you for your comment. The actual fact is they denied it happening basically calling me a liar. At no point did anyone from royal say that they are allowed to do this or well within their rights to do so. Just I’m sorry, it never happened, here’s some roses......

This is the point I’m trying to make, if it was not their fault, why offer anything.....

I would have been okay with that if they were straight up to begin with. Like, it’s in the T&C too bad so sad. But no, I’m a liar because they can’t see it happening, have some flowers goodnight.

When I gave the original rep on the phone my original stateroom number she said they booked the same day I did, just after I did.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

So did you have anything with the grand suite cabin number on it? If so, and you showed it to them, they still called you a liar?

  15. yeah, i plan on taking the Breakaway on her 15day re-positioning cruise on oct 27 from ny to the Caribbean to new orleans.

Hurricane season lasts till the end of Nov :o

Yes, but if you research major storms the majority are in Aug and Sept. Very small chance of a bad hurricane in late Oct/Nov.

  16. I am on 16 night Serenade of the Seas just going down to Halifax. I didn't want to cross that deck it was cold outside, I would gladly have taken the elevator, but I didn't know where it was. I am a reasonable person and I only asked if I had any recourse, just saying no would have been nice, instead I get a bunch off smarty pants comments. I am satisfied now with my question being answered, but still disappointed and hurt with all the unnecessary judgemental comments. Never again, people seemed more kind on this board a while ago. My knee still hurts, but I managed a couple tours with my trekking poles. So I'm going to unsubscribe to notifications-guess I gave some people a laugh at least.

You should have asked the best way to get to your cabin if you did not know. Every elevator lobby has a map of the ship layout.
