Seashore Dec 3rd, 4 night, YC Review (onboard)
dd likes to cruise replied to Morgsmom's topic in MSC Cruises
We were on the 12/3, 4 night cruise also. We were not YC. Seems odd, as there were limes, cherries, and garnishes at every bar I visited. I have to have limes! 😎. Parking was horrible. It took us about an hour from when we got in the parking line, until we parked. 😡. Never heard if there was an excuse/reason. That needs to be addressed with the port I would guess, not really MSC’s fault. Since the last time we parked in that garage, the set up changed. I heard they had trouble getting people off the earlier cruise and that is why boarding was slow. I am afraid I do not know what you might be alluding to, about some different types of people on the island. I was at the South beach (I believe that was the name) lagoon all day and all was good over there. -
Rotterdam has a nice Market and it is right next to the Cube Houses. We enjoyed both. Just incase you just want to wonder.

We are not in YC, but are Diamond. Do we have to wait for our printed time? -

A number of the cruise companies offer an Alaska cruise with Land portion also. That is what we did. On Royal, Vancouver to Steward. Plus 3 days land tour to Denali and Fairbanks. Really enjoyed it. Flew home from Fairbanks. -
I would try to find a UK travel agent to help. Because rules are different in various countries, it might even be a better deal, with better perks? It would be worth emailing one and finding out.

I agree with the original poster. What I have found occasionally are itineraries that go north first, with a few stops in Alaska, across to Asia and then heads south. Those look more interesting to me. I know Carnival has one on their schedule. And I was booked on one on Princess that got canceled due to Covid. It was going to be 29 days. As much as I enjoy Hawaii, it is a place I prefer to do myself, not on a cruise.

Call and see who might be helping her in an emergency situation. I am sure that happens all the time.

I feel your pain. I too am doing 2 nights on my own and luckily we had hotel points we could use. I saw some recommended hotels at over 500 a night. -
Atl to Sydney - coping with lengthy flight

I don’t notice one direction being worst for me. No matter which direction we fly, going on vacation is better. You have many things to do and see and you don’t want to waste a minute. So you just barrel thru. When you get home, I find it much easier to be lazy about in and it takes many days for me to get over it. -

Luminosa to Alaska last week was very easy to get drinks while playing. -

Probably a “supply and demand” thing. If they are filling the ships, they don’t need to. I also have heard others say they wonder if the high level passengers bring in as much on board revenue as the new cruisers. Supposedly a very good portion of there dollars come from, wi-fi, drink packages, shopping in the stores, excursions, etc. Many high level travelers get some of those items free, and the others many have stopped doing (excursions, shopping). -
We did the same cruise Memorial Day weekend. Very much enjoyed it. Only my second Carnival cruise so couldn’t really compare to other carnival ships. But do remember it is different, since it did not start as a carnival ship. Biggest cabins we’ve seen and the most storage in them also. We had an Ocean View. Liked the Main dining rooms also. Tables not crammed in as I have seen elsewhere. And always had great servers and good food. Buffet a little “not so great”, the layout just didn’t work great. Have fun!

I see there is a World Cruise for Jan 2025 scheduled and available for booking. Right now it is just 4 various starting and endings points, all 116 days. At about what point will they start offering shorter portions, like then have done for the 2024 one. (And I am thinking others in the past also). Love the idea, just can’t be gone so long. Actually trying to book a 35 day portion of the 2024 one right now too. Thanks. If anyone call tell me more about perks that come with the World Cruise bookings, that would be great to.

I only buy small price items, like Magnets or Bracelets. I pay the asking price. Now I am usually doing this in a small shop, not on the street. -
Curious why many more Seward to Van cruises than Van to Seward

Maybe more people want to stay and do an extension or days on their own where they can go to Denali. Maybe want to get to the cold gradually. Not sure. -
I have not seen a fuller (standing room only) venue on any cruise line. They obviously have selected correctly. But I see many younger folks thoroughly enjoying themselves there every night too!
