  2. Not sure if this breaks a rule here (hope not, but I'm sure someone will set me straight if so) but I use the Ship Mate app and it shows a hundred or so checked into the roll call for that cruise. You might install that and shoot messages to them, or in the roll call chat.

  3. I have a few more for next year but have only been adding cruises this year for now.

  4. Harmony just started revenue cruises. Ovation started last month. I believe there are two more Quantum class ships ordered, to arrive in 2019 and 2020; plus Oasis 4 to come in 2018. Don't think any of these names have been publicly released.

Since the recent hire one should be Boaty McBoatface of the Seas. lol

  5. No problem at all! I just learned to do this a couple of days ago myself. :)

It doesn't adjust for orientation automagically. I have been leaving the orientation alone, because I have a feeling (although have not tried it so I'm not positive) that if I change the orientation, the recording will come out sideways instead of landscape. Don't wanna deal with that mess so I'm just not touching it.

Just tried it. The recording stops if you change the orientation.

  6. The auto-save to Camera Roll just saves the video, in the terrible quality that it broadcasts in. It's pretty useless, there are no comments.

What I'm doing is using Quicktime on my Mac to screen record my iPhone. Then I just play the video directly from the Periscope app, and it shows all the comments and everything. Still kinda crappy quality video, but better with the comments. I'm going to upload those photos to YouTube, so that viewers can see everything.

I did 16 broadcasts, and I have recorded 4 of them so far, so I'm on my way!

Probably made a mistake explaining in such detail. From earlier I know you're an Apple nerd so after this out I will probably always be asking you how to do things like this all the time. Was going to ask how this worked but a quick search found the instructions and I was recording one of your scopes a minute later (although I failed to change the audio source so I ended up with a bad feedback loop). No way to automatically adjust for orientation changes I guess? I love finding new things like that. I not only learned a lot about Allure, but also Periscope, iPhone and Mac learning thrown in too. Thanks!

  7. First off, I have to say that watching both of you on Periscope was awesome. Really loved your final wrap show together.

Celisse, I have one quick question. You mentioned posting a periscope that you forgot to #save to youtube. I assume that means that you had the Auto-Save to Camera Roll setting turned on. Does that just save the plain video or does it also save all of the comments?

  8. What is the discount if you were in the military and have a DD214? Thanks

I always test all of the possible discount scenarios. I've never seen a military one yet for the cruises I've been checking but have seen others. Also, check all combinations of discounts that you qualify for. On one cruise I did I was able to get a discount as a California resident but when I checked another potential discount along with it (checked two boxes at once) the California discount disappeared. So I always check all possible combinations.

  9. I have never and will never get on a ship armed with a bunch of cleaning products to wipe everything down. I trust that things have been cleaned appropriately, and if I see something that needs attention I bring it to my cabin steward's attention. I'm also not a fan of incessant hand-sanitizer use. I prefer soap and water, and only use sanitizer when I have to...on a ship, in port when I don't have a better option, and in a stadium parking lot at a tail-gate party!

I spent 30 years working in public schools surrounded by almost every germ imaginable. I guess I got any germophobic tendencies out of my system during my career!:D

I had no idea people went to those lengths to attempt to sanitize their cabin. I'm happily unpacked and out enjoying the ship while everyone's cleaning!

Question for those of you who sanitize everything...do you do that in hotels too? Do you clean before you use a public restroom? I'm not trying to be rude...I just had no idea so many people did this!

And I bet you rarely get sick these days too. The problem with over-sanitizing and use of anti-bacterials constantly (especially if your parents started you when you're a kid) is that you never build up a resistance to anything. The non sanitizing person can walk into a room full of germs and walk out with no problem. The person who is continually using anti-bacterials and such will walk into that same room and probably be sick a few days later. You think you are keeping yourself well, but you're NOT going to get them all, and by not letting your body do it's thing and build up those resistances you are setting yourself up to get sick.

Don't get me wrong. Is the dirty underwear in the drawers a little gross? Sure. Am I going to go overboard to sanitize my room because of it? Nope.

And no, I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV lol.
