The OP said they like drink packages.  I believe that is a big note to point out a difference between the 2 lines.  It isnt hard to do....

Based on a Sea day -

Wake up and get a baileys and coffee (maybe 2) from the coffee bar

Have a mimosa at breakfast (or bloody mary if you like those)

10am - pool (or wherever you are)  beer or beverage

11am - pool (or wherever you are)  beer or beverage

    1230pm - 1 or 2 with lunch

2pm - pool (or wherever you are)  beer or beverage

3pm - pool (or wherever you are)  beer or beverage

A pre dinner drink in the Piazza or Vines

    630pm - 1 or 2 with supper

That is going to leave you 4-5 to have at the disco over the course of the evening or at the casino or in the theater while watching the show, or at the piano bar, or wherever you are.

    😄

That's me too! But more glasses of wine with dinner for sure.

They'd like you think you don't but it's priced to Princess's advantage that unless you do, they're making a killing on the package.

Most of the cost is based on the alcohol and they know that the average cruiser won't come close to the max.

Nice to think I'm "above average" in something for a change!

Even on port days I can easily drink a few bottles of Peroni, a pre dinner drink and glasses of wine over dinner. It's thirsty work too dancing the night away!

Why does everyone freak out about specialty dining. We have been on 60 Princess cruises and have never booked in advance. There are always tables that can be had while on board. It also helps if you eat after 7:00

Totally agree. We always wait until we board.

Even on nights that are supposedly booked up, we get a table on the night.

With the Med' cruises being so port intensive I guess passengers cancel because they are knackered by the evening and just do to the buffet.

  4. We've been on Millennium, Solstice and Edge class ships and would say the Solstice ones have the same vibe as Royal class ships.

Entertainment is better I think on Princess. There just seems to be more going on. I miss Morano's however as Sabatini's isn't as good.

MUTS is great, but Celebrity have TV screens too. Just not as big!

Like many have said, you will not be disappointed with the switch to Princess.

  5. I'll drink red or white wine from the Plus offerings and just stick to the ones that I like the most. The only time I'll upgrade is for real champagne and pay the difference.

The pour sizes are no big deal. I'll just return to the bar more often and kid myself it's good exercise!

When I get close to my 15 drink limit, I have the wife's allowance in reserve!😂

Anyway, it's nice to know that our vacations can now be enjoyed without having to conform to any specific form of dress.

No one has ever had to conform. The dress codes have always been suggested IMHO.

As my wife loves to dress up I always complement her attire by wearing a tux/dinner jacket on the "formal nights".

As I've said before. I don't give a monkey's what other choose to wear regardless of the suggested dress code.

I've never worn shorts in any restaurant around the world and as people rightly state. Wear what you feel comfortable in.

I feel most comfortable when I've made an effort to look smart, and I get serious "brownie" points from my wife as a result!😇

I just read an article that Princess is starting a ship with in a ship concept called the Sanctuary Collection on Sun & Star Princess and that the sanctuary  will be part of a cabin grade and no longer available to the average passenger it seems to be the same direction as Norwegian and MSC with there private areas.

I don't know if this will spread to the rest of the fleet but that seems to be the way most lines are going.

Sorry, but this news has been discussed "ad nauseam" on here!

Not hardly - a very hetro guy. Just kinda of fed up with the 6/8 Sun cruise where I can’t book dining, Santorini and Kotor have been replaced. care to step in my shoes?

Me too! Just hoping my Sun cruise on 10 August stops at Kotor and Santorini, but if its not meant to be I’ll just max out my Plus package on Peroni’s and red wine!

Aim to do traditional dining around 8 pm each night on a table of 8 and hopefully enjoy everyone’s company.

Will go to Sabatini’s and the new Asian themed restaurant (can’t recall the name) and be thankful I’m not sitting at my office desk for 14 nights whilst aboard.

I was told that we can only book Sun dining 30 days out. I have paid in full for 8 months - absurd is an understatement and on top of that they have cancelled Santorini and Kotor.  Not happy about any of this. I will never book a cruise that has less than a year of sailings. 😒

I’m guessing you are a “glass half empty” type of guy/girl/non-binary!

Got email that my medallion has been shipped. The problem is I have a guaranteed reservation but I have still not been assigned a room. How does this work? In order to open your door, doesn’t the medallion need to know what room you’re in? Or is it more technologically advanced than a hotel key card? I was hoping for a speedy embarkation in the green line. Will I need to stop somewhere to have the thing reprogrammed?

Obviously a downside to having the medallions posted instead of waiting a few seconds longer to get them at embarkation 😂

Fairly steep, slippery from the donkey dung. Need to clean ones shoes afterwards.

    Come on!

It’s not that steep and there are many resting places to take in the views and sideline the donkey packs.

Ok, there is some urine and poop but you are not wading in the stuff!

Just don’t wear your newest footwear.

The 588 steps are more pleasant than standing in a 90 minute line for the cable car.

  12. Thanks @Sox Fan Cruiserfor confirming your stop at Santorini. I remember seeing from the land based webcam that it was particularly windy that day.

As for the tendering process. In all the years I have visited Santorini (either with Princess or Celebrity) we have never been on the ship's own tenders. The Islanders provide them and they are more than adequate to transport passengers back and forth without too much delay for sometimes up to 4 ships at anchor! The tenders also always took us to the dock nearest the cable car and entrance to the 588 steps up!

I am hopeful our Sun visit on 13 August will go ahead as the other three ships in that day are arriving and leaving at different times which will ease the pressure on the cable cars, but the passenger count will be 12,000 in total!

Has the Sun Been stopping at any tender ports?  Seems they have been skipping Santorini and Kotor which are both tender ports.

Any that it has been stopping at?

The Sun has definitely tendered in Santorini. Can't remember if it was in March or earlier this month though!

My 17June stop at Kotor, has been replaced in itinerary by Bar.

With Bar only about 30km from Kotor though, I'm hoping there will be a ship tour to Kotor.

But you will miss the sail in/out which I really enjoyed every time I've visited Kotor.

We are due to sail in on 19th August. We also have Santorini on our itinerary for the 13th. Losing those two ports would be really disappointing despite having been to both many times!

  15. Here in the UK we have no choice but to collect the medallions at embarkation. The time taken is no different from when we all had to collect our cruse cards, so I just don't understand why so many people get needlessly stressed about having them posted out prior to the cruise.

Sorry if I sound unsympathetic, but the time you spent on the phone was just pointless.
