  1. Hello, Next May we will be doing an Alaska cruise on RCI which leaves from Vancouver and returns to Seattle. We are looking for the easiest way to get back to Vancouver after we disembark. This will be on a Saturday and we will be docked at pier 91. I see that there is a shuttle service called Quickshuttle that appears to have a pickup time of 9:20am which will take us back and drop us off at various downtown Vancouver locations. The schedule for this service isn't set yet for 2024 so it may not even be availalbe for this day. If it is available is this our best option? Does anyone know if RCI offers a return shuttle? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks
  2. Another vote for Columbus Cove. One of our favorite beach areas. It's very sheltered so there is very little wave action. Attendents are nice and there is a nice view of the ship. Easy tram ride.
  3. Don't agree. We have room service breakfast on our balcony every morning. Naps in the afternoon, pre-Windjammer drinks in the late afternoon and a late night sitting looking at the ocean. Balconyviews are one of my favorite parts of the cruise.
  4. You and use the app to see the current menu at the Duck and Dog Pub. It lists all of the available beers that they offer. Click on the profile picture and select a different cruise. At the bottom of the screen select browse our ships. Select Adventure and a sail date and it will bring up the details for that cruise including the bar and resturant menus.
  5. Your absolutely correct that until the flight prices for next May are posted it makes no sense to do much planning at this point. As for flight out of Seattle I did a quick check and they all seemed to go to Vancouver and than on to Tornoto. When looking at flights out as far as we can which is March 2024 Flair or Porter have great prices and direct flights TO to VAN; I've flown on both. Since neither of those airlines operate out of Seattle we would need to pick AC or WJ for the first leg or just do AC or WJ all the way back to Toronto. Doing that doubles the prices that would have with Flair or Porter thus my inclination to get back to Vancouver after the cruise. I'd much rather spend the extra money on a nice trip back, and evening out in downtown Vancouver and then an early flight back the next day. But again all this is just speculation till the prices for May 2024 become available.
  6. Hello, I think your room is a standard balcony, no steel port hole. There are such rooms on deck 7 which we have stayed in but they are at the very end of the coridor and we like them because they are considered obstructed. As for noise I think you will be fine. By 11 We will Rock You should be done. There may be some other shows such as the Adult comedy show but I don't think they will generate a lot of "bass" noise. We stayed at the end of the corridor on deck 7 and all we heard was the occasional sound from the crew bar but it didn't bother us. It was nice hearing the occational Abba song come through. They work hard and I wanted to join them!!
  7. I thought about doing that but the flight from Seattle to Vancouver is almost as much as the fare from Vancouver to Toronto so I thought it would be nice to take a nice scenic ride back on either a train or bus if they are easy to get to after getting off the cruise. Thanks for the tip about the excursion in Skagway. We'll check it out.
  8. Thanks for the correction. Looks like there are several options for getting back to Vancouver. I hadn't thought about the possiblity of an RCI bus transfer. I'll follow up on that one. Thanks for you reply.
  9. Hello, We recently booked a cruise on Ovation of the Seas for an Alaska cruise. This cruise leaves from Vancouver and returns to Seattle. As we start planning for this cruise there are lots of questions. We plan on flying into Vancouver a couple of days before the cruise and use the time to explore. I have already learned about the SkyTrain which seems like a good way to get from the airport to downtown. We can't purchase our air tickets yet but we will be flying from Toronto to Vancouver. We will be deciding whether to stay at an airport hotel or downtown based on our flight arrival times. One question I do have is about the end of the cruise arrival in Seattle. We want to fly home from Vancouver so we will need to get from the cruise pier in Seattle back to Vancouver. We will probably spend a day after the cruise returns to get back to Vancouver. From what I have been reading is it correct that RCI uses Pier 19 when docking in Seattle and this is where I should start looking for transport back to Vancouver? If it is any recommendations about getting from Pier 19 back to Vancouver downtown would be appreciated. Thanks.
  10. I believe that heating pads are considered more of a hazard because of their construction. The pad has internal wires that heat. These wires get flexed each time the pad is used. If a wire starts to break due to this flexing a hot or hotter spot may form inside the pad which in turn could cause the pad to catch fire. Since this happens inside the pad the user will not see this wear issue. Curling irons and blow dryer have similar heating elements but they are housed inside a rigid housing so they do not flex. Blow dryers and curling irons are also used for a short period of time unlike a heating pad which may be left on for hours.
  11. Would like to get this for our upcoming cruise on Liberty leaving on May 4'th however the availablility only shows up for cruises leaving after June 1'st. Has anyone had any luck phoning in and getting something like this when the date is not listed? I may try calling later today.
  12. We are cruising on her leaving May 4'th out of Cape Liberty. I believe this is the first cruise from the north for the season.
  13. Each to their own. I'm ok with a little crunch in my veggies but I like liver as well!!
  14. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who likes the veggies. Have a great cruise. Thanks. Looking forward to hearing to hearing back from you. Have a great cruise. Good to hear. Thanks.
  15. A few cruises ago when dining in the MDR we started asking for an extra plate of whatever veggies they were serving that night be brought out with our entrees. I know I'm probably in the minority but I really like most of the steamed veggies that they serve. This request has alway been accomodated and usually becomes automatic with our wait staff after the first or second night. With the recent changes in some of the MDR procedures I'm wondering if such a request will still be accomodated? Anyone had any luck getting a special request like this under the new rules? Thanks
  16. Hello, I was hoping to send a fellow CC member a message but it says the feature has been disabled. Has it been disabled for all or is it something specific to me? Thanks
  17. We were on the 11 night leaving Jan 2. We were on the most forward starboard balcony room on deck 7. We occationally heard the crew bar as well as a couple of loud bangs in the night which was more than just a slaming door. I suppose it could have been waves but it sounded more like some sort of mechanical noise. I suspect there is a lot of things under the bow such as the anchor mechanics which might go bang in the night. But in the end we had a wonderful cruise and the noise only happened once or twice.
  18. We have been on Anthem several times out of Bayonne and always enjoy her. We will definately cruise on Odyssey when she comes. Question - what is the feature show in 270? Anthem has Spectra. Is it the same show on Odyssey or does each Q class have a different show in 270?
  19. Thanks for the replies. Definately not going to my junk folder. I can see them up to the Covid pause and then nothing for me since restart (6 cruises). My wife has been getting them all along. I'll phone in and inquire one of these days.
  20. Thanks lougelady55, I don't really have any complaints either. I really enjoyed our last cruise on Anthem and I told a couple of the staff that I would mention them in the survey which I was not able to do. I guess I should phone in. If that doesn't work I'll try asking the DL concierge when we are on our next cruise on Liberty in May.
  21. Hello, I realized after our last cruise in January that I did not receive a Post Cruise Survey email from Royal. I have received them in the past but it seems that about 3 cruises back I stopped getting them. My wife has been getting them consistantly. I have checked in my spam mail folder and also confirmed my email on my account profile. After this last cruise I sent an email to royalguestrelations but I never received a response. We have a cruise coming up in May and with all the changes I would like the opportunity to provide feedback. I have resisted simply phoning because of the hold times but I probably will end up doing that. Before I do does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
  22. Maybe because the first response said it was a "terrible video" because it was in the vertical mode. I watched and enjoyed it earlier today. Thanks for posting Thisguylikestocruise.
  23. We started getting the Vodka package when we turned Diamond to suppliment out 4 drink vouchers. On our Oasis cruise last October the package did not appear till about a month before the sailing. Not sure why it's not always available since the price doesn't seem to change. While it is a small bottle it's still 8 - 10 drinks which is a bit of a savings over buying at a bar. Also you can exchange the cans of Sprite for Club Soda if you prefer CS for your mix as I do.
