For Rotterdam, are there bars/venues with music in the evenings before dinner? For Ex. at the back deck bar on both Celebrity and Cunard there was music (band, guitarist, and/or singer) from late afternoon/evening--or something in the lounges before dinner--Irish music, vocalist, etc.?
We're not crazy party people, but also don't really want solitude on a cruise. We are active, early 60s. Newly retired--so lots of quiet times to read at home. Celebrity is perfect for us--but Rotterdam schedule/ports looks really good.
interested to hear your observations post cruise on the Rotterdam. Hope you have a great cruise 🛳️

Is drydock mainly for cosmetic touch ups like paint and carpeting or does Celebrity plan to make more involved refurbishments like say adding plugs or USB sockets to the bedside in cabins or improvements to the wifi?
While I truly like the Equinox and its fantastic crew , the ship has not missed any dances and can probably use as much refurbishment as X is willing to pay for.

Don’ t be too hard on old people. Most of us get there at some point, and it sure beats the alternative.

Hopespringseternal , but if the quality issues keep declining there will be a point where people say enough. Not only on X , but any cruise line where the experience keeps going the wrong way.
The same thing happens on land based venues. We used to really enjoy Disney years ago and didn't feel like we were being robbed to go. That ship has sailed ( No pun intended ) for us.

They actually do a great job with the pressing and or the laundry , dry cleaning.
Your stateroom steward will assist you with the pick up.
As far as cost goes , there are packages , individual pricing and a few perks depending on stateroom category , or captains club level.
Hope you have a great cruise.

Only been on one HAL cruise about a dozen years ago on the Amsterdam in Alaska. At that time they had some wonderful big production shows (I’ll never forget the vibrant energy in the room when they did ABBA’s Voulez-Vous) and I’m sorry to read that they have gotten away from that. We have cruised with Celebrity many times over the years, but that has come to an end after they literally booted us off a Japanese cruise we were supposed to be on in 2 weeks, 13 months after we booked because they oversold the cruise. So, we are back to HAL going to Greece & the Holy Land (if it’s still there) next year.
Celebrity may have done you a favor.

The only thing that will reverse this trend is when people stop booking cruises , whether it be on X , RCL , HAL etc.

Thanks for a great review. Glad you enjoyed your cruise 🚢.

X has forgotten what made them so popular .

I just heard that tips are no longer included in "All Included"... so I guess it's not ALL included.
Your guess is spot on. A classic drink package and sub par Wi-Fi that is basically a hook to upgrade to the premium Wi-Fi at an extra charge of course.

Hi everyone,
Can you purchase a day pass for the Thalassotherapy pool on the Rotterdam or do you have to purchase a pass for the duration of the cruise ?

I received the survey also and submitted my responses. I don't expect to see any changes from this.
Never hurts. The cruise line does not want to lose paying customers.

I don't think they care what's written on CC, but they do care about their surveys.
I do think they read CC. Sometimes to the benefit of cruisers.

Can you pre purchase a case of water to be delivered to your cabin? I looked in my planner and couldn't find anything? Drink package is very expensive for my cruise so not worth buying that.
Thanks
Buy a case. Tape a luggage tag on it. It will arrive at your cabin.

Thanks Terry.

We're on the Equinox October 22, I'm interested in seeing if X feels different since our last cruise, the Equinox last December. But I think our best comparison will be I've got 14 days on the brand new Celebrity Ascent in January, then 9 days on the Rotterdam in March.
From everything I've read, I'm guessing HAL will be at least a good option to mix in with our Celebrity cruises ...and maybe even a replacement.
I'll miss the martini bar though...
I will be looking forward to your observations on Equinox as we are booked on her Nov 30.
Hope you have a great cruise 🚢

Last year on the Oosterdam our room attendant left plenty of the canned waters in our cabin and we never paid anything extra for them. We had the standard HIA package in a Signature Suite. Will we still get the cans of water at no charge for our upcoming HAL cruises with Standard HIA?
Hi Terry ,
Haven’t heard from you for awhile, hope you’re doing well and enjoying some great cruises 🚢

My wife and I always enjoy walking around the promenade deck when on a cruise 🚢.
It is a simple pleasure that is quietly disappearing on many ships.

Thanks POA.
I appreciate your response.
Rebooking after fare drop loss of onboard credit ?
in Holland America Line
Posted
Spoke to an HAL representative today about repricing our cruise due to a fare drop.
She said she could do it but that we would lose our onboard credit if we did. I told her our onboard credit was a shareholder benefit, she said that did not matter we would still lose it if we repriced the fare .
Any thoughts or suggestions ?
Thanks
