  1. We boarded yesterday and are on the Aloha deck. We did receive the Medallions and our cruise card. Also have free internet and it is fast. My wife's medallion will not unlock the door unless she holds it on the panel for 3-5 seconds. Mine will unlock the door when I am 2-3 feet from the door guess they are working on it.

So far, dinner in the Crown Grill last night was great. Breakfast in Sabatini's was wonderful and lunch in the Club Class dining room was excellent. Every staff member we have encountered has had a smile.

  2. The expanded menu looks tasty, but if I want steak & lobster for $38, I'll go the the Crown Grill and get waited on...rather than eat my fancy dinner in my lap.

Ok, now that is funny! I have to agree. Really can't believe the room service surf & turf would be that good. Especially if I have to order every little thing needed for a meal.

  3. Can anyone recommend private cabana rentals in either Nassau or Roatan? We are cruising on the Allure in March. We had rented a private cabana on Mahagony Bay last time but I can't seem to find a private cabana rental on any of the islands we are visiting this time around. Any help appreciated.

The cabanas are located at Mahogany Bay in Roatan which is owned by Carnival Corporation. Carnival and Princess ships dock there, otherwise it is closed.

  4. My cabin mate will be bring her granddaughter on our cruise.

A few years ago, someone had posted a letter they used when they took their grandchild or child (divorced/single parent) on a cruise without the parents.

Is a letter still needed? What information is needed in the Letter?

I suggest you go the the US Customs website. I am in the private air charter business. For all our flights when children under 18 are traveling without both parents, we require a notarized statement giving permission for the child to travel outside the US from their legal guardian. When we send our passenger manifest to Customs for departure clearance 24 hours in advance, we send a copy of the statement. I forgot one trip to send a copy and 30 minutes after filing our outbound clearance, the Port Inspector called asking about the minor. Their information pulls up each passengers background info. They could tell the parents were not on the flight, minor was traveling with her best friends family. Also have the same document allow you to authorize any medical treatment during the trip.

You would not want to be denied boarding for not having a simple notarized permission paper.

  5. We are sailing August 25 on the CB and are in a full suite. We also have the deluxe balcony breakfast included. With Sabatinis an option for breakfast every morning (which we love) why choose the balcony breakfast? The menu selection does not seem that great. Personalizer shows it as a $45 value. Can we get any credit for not using this add on toward a specialty restaurant?

  6. It is strange the cabana's not being listed. We have one booked on our Princess cruise this month and were able to book 3 months out. On our Carnival cruise next May, the cabana's on the private island are showing up on the website. Have you called Carnival or your TA?

  7. My wife and I have booked with Cozumel H2O for our August cruise, Discover SCUBA. With three of our prior cruises, we went with the cruise ship snorkeling tours. Some were really great, others just ok. Our biggest issue with the cruise ship tours is they have a lot of people on the tour, 75-100 people on the large catamaran's. It takes a long time to get everyone into and out of the water and the tour guides seem to herd you around the sites. We wanted a smaller group tour. One plus to a ship tour is the guarantee of getting back to the ship.

Since we will be in Cozumel for a long port day and get back from our trip three hours before the ship leaves port, not too worried about getting back in time. Loes, the owner of Cozumel H2O, has been great answering my emails within 24 hours. Small deposit sent by Pay Pal and the balance to be paid in cash (USD) after the tour. We will have to take a taxi each way from the port, but the cost is only $8.00 each way, cash.

  9. We got a Move-Over offer 14 days before a 10-day Japan cruise. We traded for a Baltic 11-day during the same month. Since it was past final payment on the Baltic, he could see availability and upgraded us from OV to standard balcony. AND gave us $500 each for changing our airfare (booked on American).

It did take a couple of weeks to get the airfare refund, but once they paid it they covered the actual difference ($1300) instead of the promised $500x2=$1000.

We were so excited about our free cruise that we wasted the entire cruise-fare OBC in the casino, but don't regret the move at all.

Yeah, my girls spent half of our OBC in the SPA. They did regret that the following day.

  10. We are sailing on the CB August 25th. My TA called me a week ago and said we had two up sell offers. We were booked in E731, our favorite mini. First offer was to upgrade to Club Class mini for $149 per person. Said no to that one. Second offer was to upgrade to a Suite for $449 per person. I asked my TA what suites were available. He called back in 25 minutes with a Princess rep on the line and offered A753, the owners suite. Done deal! All our OBC and Sip n Sail were honored with the move. Our TA has us marked "No Upgrade" for all our bookings. This is the 4th up sell offer we have received in the last 3 cruises. 1 month, 2 days and 21 hours until we drive down August 24th. No, we are not excited.

  11. Thank you to all the 5000+ posts experts for the snarky comments. I have been on these boards for over 10 years and rarely offer advice because the "cruise experts" love to attack even though they may be wrong. Please stop being rude to folks trying to find simple answers about their cruise. You were all newbies at one time.

  12. 2016 Caribbean Princess, TA called 48 hours before our departure and said Princess wanted our mini suite on Emerald and our daughters balcony on Riviera. Would we take a family suite and $2000 OBC that was refundable if not used? Yep, we look the deal.

Last year on the Crown, we booked E727 for $950 including tax a port fees. That is total for 2 passengers. Princess was having a hard time filling the ship after all the hurricane damage in the Caribbean.

We had a wonderful time on both trips.

Last week we took an upsell offer from our Emerald mini to the Owners Suite on the CB. Perks of the full suite was worth it to us.

  13. We had the family suite on the CB December 2016. I agree, suite benefits outweighed the high winds on the balcony. During our cruise, the winds coming from the South were over 20 mph. With the ship going 22 knots, it was very breezy on the balcony. One night the deck furniture had a nice wind dance about 2 am. We did have some noise from the heavy seas against the bow, but it was not a bother, kind of cool knowing the seas were rough but the CB rode very smooth. If you want to have the Ultimate Balcony Dinner, make sure you plan on being in port and not underway.

  14. This will be our third cruise on the CB. In 2016 we had a mini suite booked and our TA always marks us as "no upgrade" so we don't lose our prefered cabin. In 2016, we received a call from our TA two days before our cruise and were offered a free upgrade for our family of 4. We had a mini on Emerald deck and our adult daughter's were on a Riviera balcony. We took the free upgrade to a family suite plus a lot of OBC. Wonderful time with the exception of the wind on the large balconey. The balcony was hard to use under way, high winds since this cabin was on the front Port side of the ship. We wondered why the deck furniture was all metal, same as the balcony's. Found out the reason on the first night when the winds really picked up and the deck furniture started it's own wind dance. Looked like something out of a B rated science fiction movie. But I would take it again for the same deal.

Last December on the Crown, my TA found an incredible deal on a mini suite for under $1000 including taxes and port fees. Seems the hurricane had done so much damage in the islands that a lot of folks had cancelled. We were offered an upsell from our mini on Emerald deck to a suite on this cruise but turned it down. As an after thought, should have done it. Would have paid less for the suite than a normal balcony cabin. Most of the ocean view cabins on the starboard side were empty on Emerald.

For our upcoming cruise in August, my TA called me with an upsell offer to move from our Emerald mini to an aft Owners Suite, $459 per person. We took it because of the extra perks. You just never know when the offers will come your way.
