Well, let's get it out of the way and say we like the Yacht Club better.  That is not to say The Haven wasn't lovely!  Our preference is purely personal.  We had the most amazing cabin... it was HUGE because it was accessible and our amazing concierge Dilip went out of his way to make certain our stay was all it could be.  Out butler Jojit was also wonderful.  However, we found the lounge area to be small/cramped and have been spoiled by the views from the YC lounges.  One bartender and one wait person and truly, that is all that was needed.  We weren't fans of the enclosed pool area particularly and the sun deck was packed so we didn't spend much time up there.  The food in the restaurant was very good and presented beautifully but the lack of variety made us very happy we had the specialty dining package to use 3 nights.  Would we stay in The Haven again?  Possibly if we got a fantastic deal.  Would we stay in the YC again?  Always.

Jo was our very first butler and was so great!

  2. I don’t see the appeal of a pay restaurant that has food similar to a free venue, unless it is light years better. I’d love to see a concept, either free or pay (I don’t care, I’ll pay for really good food), that isn’t already repeated. Sports bar-kind of have that with O’Sheehans. Tex Mex/Mexican-have that with Los Lobos (doubt NCL would take away business from that by creating a free option). I’d love to see a Cuban place- Cuban sandwiches, black beans and rice, guava pastries at breakfast, empanadas, meduros, etc.

  3. Read all 21 pages of this thread and upgraded to the Plus! I’m not a huge drinker, but it’s just my 18 yr old daughter and I on this cruise, so I was able to upgrade myself only. I figure a few glasses of Veuve, a Starbucks in the morning, a bunch of bottled water, and playing around with upgrading my mixed drinks makes the package worth it. I do like wine with dinner and I’m learning to pair my wines properly with food. Will the sommelier in the Haven do pairings for all of my meal courses?

We will be eating in Specialty restaurants also and usually are too full to enjoy dessert right after dinner.

I believe I've read here on CC that it's not unusual to ask for your dessert to be sent to your room?   I'm in 'the don't want to make a big fuss category, but if the Specialty restaurant can ask the night butler to deliver our desserts to our room for an after show late night treat we would love it.   Or, we could ask for a late night dessert from the Haven placed in room.   What would you suggest?

(We are about to have our 2nd Haven cruise of about 40 NCL cruises.  Didn't use the Butler at all on that first cruise and that was fine with us.  After this 2nd Haven we will happily be back to our regular cruising.)

We started the habit of having the butler pick up our dessert from the restaurant and deliver it. It was a wonderful treat to have later in the evening and nobody batted an eye. Just tell your dinner server what you want and ask to have it delivered to your room. They will handle calling your butler. I used to be very shy about asking for things, but our last cruise was in the garden villa. With the staff’s encouragement, we got over that shyness REAL quick!

I have a question about Haven showers. Is the forward penthouse the only room with a shower that doesn't require stepping over the side of a tub? I know the two bedroom family suite has a walk in shower separate from the tub, and the forward penthouse has the same. Do any others? The combo tub and shower is a deal breaker for my parents in terms of staying in the haven in a room of their own, vs. the out of the haven penthouse, which is a longer walk, obviously. They'd consider a room within the Haven if it had a shower separate and easy to enter, but I didn't see any other than ones that are much larger (owners, or family) in my online searches, if anyone can verify. 😃

It depends on the ship. Breakaway aft have separate showers, but Epic aft has the shower inside the tub.

Thanks - that all sounds good and similar to how it is organised on Royal .

Is cagneys steakhouse able to cope with celiac needs also?

Definitely! Again, meet with the restaurant manager prior to (we always ordered that evening’s dinner at breakfast or the night before). There’s tons of options at Cagney’s.

  7. My daughter has celiac and we’ve always received wonderful service from NCL. Register with the access desk and meet with the restaurant manager upon boarding. You will plan meals in advance. In our experience, they really understand the difference between eating gluten free and celiac (cross contamination, etc). My daughter really likes their gf pizza and pasta in La Cucina and the cheese bread at Moderno. She has a standing order of the cheese bread delivered to wherever she is eating dinner.

  8. We are due to make final payment next week and just found out my husband won’t be able to go. He is listed as passenger 1 of 3. If I call to cancel only him,, will this be a problem? Do I need to switch the passenger order first or will I automatically become passenger 1 and my daughter #2? The only reason I ask is I remember reading something about there being issues if the primary passenger needs to cancel.

No, there was no snack menu or anything.  Looked to us like each cabin got the same thing off the cart,  anyway neither the conceirge of butler did anything for us.  the haven restaurant was okay, but they had the same menu every day, and a small abysmal buffet for breakfast.  Actually the main Buffett was better and had more of a selection.

No, there’s no menu for snacks. There are the standard, daily snacks and you can ask for whatever else you want. The key is communicating. The butler can’t be faulted for you not communicating what you want. There is much more available than the small buffet for breakfast, which I would rather have over the mass produced slop in the main buffet any day.

Snacks look a lot better than what we got, and the butler did absolutely nothing but say hello an drop of the afternoon snacks off a cart they pushed down the hallway.

But did you ask for other snacks? These items were most likely requested by the guest.

One nice thing is there's no $$ paid upfront. Came in handy as we are supposed to be on our cruise now but kid caught Covid and had to cancel. We already booked a new cruise in July and luckily going to St Thomas and will use them July27.

They are awesome! We used Sunfari last year when we were in St Thomas for a week and it was definitely a favorite. Riding around with Micky is like being with the mayor- he knows everybody! Such a fun time.
