It doesn’t work like that
You actually get a ‘carnet’ (as the French would say) of vouchers. Small enough to slip in your pocket/evening bag. You chose your wine at the table, hand over a signed docket and your wine waiter will get it for you.
If you don’t finish at dinner you can elect to have it stored for tomorrow, or take it with you for the evening or take it back to your cabin.
That’s basically it. There will be small variations between Fixed and Freedom dining and between ships but the carnet system is universal

There’s the boring, but essential, muster drill just before Sailaway. Don’t let that put you off, as dawdlers hold back everyone and then there is a crush in the stair wells and lift lobbies as all passengers attempt to get back to their cabins - some forgetting their manners and pushing ahead of less able guests.
Once you’ve dropped your life jacket back in your cabin you can grab a jacket and go on deck. There will be music for Sailaway and you can treat yourself to a drinkie from a deck bar as you head off down the Solent.
Enjoy your cruise. I’m sure you will love Norway.

I’ve gone back for another look. 😳
Those ghostly (ghastly?) grey maps showing itineraries are not inspirational, are they? Cruises are meant to be fun, exciting, colourful ... no, just grey, grey and grey

It’s the same style as the new Cunard website. I don’t find it very intuitive/user friendly. As of now I can’t see my list of carefully researched ‘Saved’ cruises ... so can’t easily go back and book.
I’ll keep looking, it might be there somewhere.
Jean - your cruise history is there but you have to log in twice to access 🙄. Of course - why wouldn’t you? 🙄
ETA
There’s a Feedback tab on the site. They welcome your comments! I’ve submitted mine.
Still can’t find Saved Cruises 😡

Smooth seas and sunshine!
Hope you have a wonderful time

At least two fish dishes each evening, in addition to ‘always available’ salmon.

Me too
... are you surprised though?

Top tip - don’t read cruise forums before you take your first cruise!
Enjoy yourselves, whichever cruise lines you use, and beware of addiction. It really can’t be so bad as so many of us keep returning, time after time

Anything here?
Do you normally travel uninsured? How would you be covered should you fall ill on Celebrity?

... with US and Euro prongs too!

If your family enjoys beaches you are within a couple of minutes walk of a long long beach at Katakolon. Tavernas galore for lunch out, perhaps?
Or you can catch the train to Olympia and DIY tour around the ancient site, or take a local bus tour there - there are lots touting their wares as you leave the ship.
I can’t help with the other ports. We did a P&O excursion to Corinth, including the canal and the ancient site. We loved it but I wouldn’t say it was a family excursion and I’m afraid I don’t recall the price.

This article in a trade journal might give a few more pointers as to Iona’s winter schedules

If you look at any of the Excursions involving Amsterdam, like a canal cruise, it will helpfully tell you there is a one hour coach journey each way
-
This, from the P&O site, doesn’t list it as obstructed at all.

I’ve sent a formal complaint to P&O tonight. Has anyone else? I guess the more complaints they receive, they may consider some goodwill gesture. Interestingly I received an email from them today asking me to respond to a customer satisfaction survey!! Surely when we booked a cruise advertised as docked at Amsterdam - not somewhere for Amsterdam, there’s a breach of trade descriptions or something (unless the reason for change is completely outside their control)
Yes, I complained by email to Paul Ludlow yesterday and got a reply yesterday from his office. No fee-free cancellation or transfer and no OBC.
It’s their business and it’s up to them to make business decisions. In this case, I hope it’s such a poor, penny-pinching, decision that they actually lose.
These various cruises stressed o’night IN Amsterdam, not a half-hour shuttle bus ride away.
I would happily have paid the blimmin’ €8. I can’t be the only one? How much will all those shuttle buses cost?
ETA - my reply from P&O referred me to the Ts and Cs and stated that, in their opinion, it was not a significant change. I would think that, in legal terms, that is correct

Trust me - IJmuiden is not much of a POC. We were there 5 or more years with MSC (advertised as docking at IJmuiden, not Amsterdam). We took an MSC excursion to Haarlem, which, iirc, wasn’t far away. It is lovely - a mini-Amsterdam if you like. Lots of canals, a lovely square, beautiful houses. Old wealth on show.
-
The P&O response to my complaint (regarding a cruise later in the year but with an Amsterdam overnight) says shuttle buses will run through the night. It does not say the drop off/pick up point. I wonder if anyone knows?
-
It’s generally 2 formal nights per week.
This might help

Ventura
The Epicurean at The White Room - View example menus
(Cruise Length 1-2 Days) Dinner - £30.00
(Cruise Length 3-7 Days) Dinner - £28.00
(Cruise Length 8+ Days) Dinner - £28.00 -
If your girls enjoy good food and would love “table theatre” (and if you are happy with the not inconsiderable additional charge) then I would say Go For It wrt The Epicurean, and have a meal for you all to remember.
You’ll find sample menus easily enough but I can remember carved/shaved Iberian ham done at your table for starters; sole, beautifully boned etc and reconstructed and served; Chateaubriand, maybe others, and of course crepes Suzette, flamed perilously near your eyebrows!

If you sort-of think Cunard ‘Britishness(ish)’ with Princess ships, notch it down half a star wrt food and entertainment, take account of the price you will pay and I hope you will feel you have had a good trip and good value.
I am assuming you are American, so the fact that you will be in a tiny minority of non-Brits will probably strike you most. Fear not - you will find we are a friendly bunch!
No service charge on drinks/services and no gratuities imposed or tips expected will be good for your pocket. Drinks are relatively cheap too.
The food and beverage and cabin staff tend to be Asian.
The coffee is awful, but P&O is not the only cruise line you can say that about

... you don’t say which ship you are booked on, as members could give you more precise advice on ‘black tie please’ bars. However, please don’t be too concerned - there are plenty of watering-holes with more relaxed dress codes for your husband, if he wants to change.
Your clothing choice sounds just fine.
Don’t stress. Relax and look forward to it.
wine packages

Chose your wine from the wine list on the table. The voucher is for a bottle of wine, not a specific wine. There Is a range of wine in each of the two packages. A reasonable selection and usually they’re all available.
The website used to be helpful and illustrate the wines available. If it’s on the new, allegedly improved, website I haven’t found it yet.
