I would always chose to spend at least one day pre cruise in Rome! Is budget a concern? If not, I would highly recommend the St Regis hotel. If you’re looking for something cheaper check Villa Pinciana, near Borghese gardens and Via Veneto

Last time we were in Rome we stayed at the Waldorf Astoria, but the location was not the most convenient.  Will check out the St Regis.  Thanks so much.  Howie

  2. Just spent some time researching the hotels (appears mostly B & Bs) in Civitavecchia.  Unfortunately many of the websites are marginally working, so it is difficult to get a handle on availability.  As usual, reviews are all over the place.   Since I am not the most adventurous type, will either stay at airport or go into Rome.

Thanks for your help and guidance.  Howie

  3. HA is offering a 94 day RT from San Diego they are calling Grand Australia and New Zealand Voyage. It is extensive Australia and NZ and many Pacific ports you would expect.  I am certainly not comparing the quality and level of cruise /service, simply itinerary.

Does anyone know if Regent has ever offered a similar cruise?

Well, this is a "First" for a Concierge booking--and not in a good way.

Am waiting to learn where that pre-cruise city is.  Echo comments in earlier postings.  Your worry about making same-day post-cruise flight out of Nice will put a pall on the cruise experience while still on that segment.  Based on a past experience several years ago at Monte Carlo--must plan for possibility that "stuff" will happen delaying leaving the ship.  It did for us.

Remove anxiety.  Would recommend following advice provided earlier on this Thread.  Spend that first night off the ship in a nice hotel at Nice.  Great location.

    GOARMY!

Anxiety removed lol  We have decided to stay another day.  Now I have to figure out a hotel in Rome.  Have not been there in several years.

We use Blacklane (car service) frequently and they provide service to all cities I need to get to (on this trip), so that is another issue covered.

perhaps you should consider going to Nice and do an overnight stay in one of the beachfront hotels. Do the same flight the next day.
BTW… what city is your pre-cruise in?

That is what we have decided to do.  A colleague suggested the Le Meridien.  We have been to Monte Carlo a few times, but never Nice.

The pre-cruise city is Rome, so I am sure the ship leaves from Civitavecchia.

  6. Decided to call customer service (after my TA call) and customer service said that this is happening more frequently.  Of course they provided a credit, but the credit is certainly not worth the additional hassles.

Unfortunately, looking at schedules, if I do not take the 12 noon flight, will have to wait another day.

Isn't travel such a joy lol

  7. 1. For the first time, Regent is unable to provide a (included) hotel stay pre-cruise.  They are saying lack of availability.  I have not had this happen to me before and was wondering I am getting misinformation?

    2. The cruise ends in Monte Carlo and the Regent flights are out of Nice.  At this point (I am doing an air deviation) I am scheduled for a 12 noon flight.  DO you think that will be enough time?

    Thanks in advance.  Howie

We went to the magician show last night and we were very happy that we sat upstairs away from everyone because on the main level I would guess that 60% of the passengers were NOT wearing masks. The rule is that you need to wear masks indoors at all times except when eating or drinking. I’m at a loss to explain why some aren’t concerned.

How much more can people be inconsiderate nor entitled.  How disingenuous of Regent.  I fully understand that direct line/service employees are being placed in the unenviable position to monitor mask (as well as other issues) compliance, but senior staff should step up and get involved.   We have recently been to several shows in NYC, and each theater utilizes an employee solely to monitor and enforce the rules that are expected to be followed.

I disagree. You will be ASKED to quarantine. Neither Regent nor Medcon has the authority to force you to do so. I am not convinced that the US government does either.

The Federal Government pursuant to CFR 42 parts 70 and 71 does have the statutory ability to require quarantine.  Also note Titles 8 and 42 of the U.S. Code.  U.S . Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Coast Guard Officers are authorized to enforce said regulations.

State, County, Territorial, and Tribal law is unique to the aforementioned entities.  States have police powers to "protect the health, safety and welfare" for person within their borders.

Given the new mask requirement, other safety related changes, and the loss of major ports (where we've paid for shore excursions in our cruise fare) I wish Regent would at least give passengers the option of rescheduling.

    Tom.

Interesting you should articulate this.  One of the mass market cruise lines just announced you can move your cruise or get a cash refund for all cruises through January 14.

  11. According to the website for the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala:

    All passengers 10 years of age and over arriving in Guatemala by air and land are required to obtain one of the following;

    • A negative COVID-19 PCR or an Antigen test within 72 hours prior to check in at the airport, or arrival at the land border; or
    • If you have recovered from COVID-19 in the past three months, a medical certificate from the healthcare facility where you received treatment showing evidence of the date of your diagnosis, and confirmation of your recovery; or
    • Evidence that you have received a complete COVID-19 vaccination course, with the final dose being administered at least two weeks before arrival in Guatemala.

Pardon my directness but, it is really ridiculous to think that Covid things will be any different between January and March 2022.

    Take (and enjoy) your cruise.

Actually, I do.  I think you have a much better chance of a January cruise actually happening than a March one.

Here a couple of pictures of the Navigator Suite 1125 from 2017.  We thought it was a nice suite on the Navigator, a bit of a strange layout but it had originally been a beaty salon.  The shower is a bit tight, but that may be true for all the suites.  Lots of storage and we didn’t have any noise issues.

Thank you so much for the pictures and comments.  It is greatly appreciated.

I looks to me that it does not have an L-couch nor bidet like the other Navigator Suites have.

The only reason I thought this was what I read when I was searching around:

    https://www.regentcruisedestinations.com/regent-seven-seas-navigator-navigator-suite.html

Actually I just found this on the Regent site.  It appears the room is smaller, but the balcony is larger.

I just like he location because you are not under the pool hearing the dragging of he chairs, etc. Numerous people have commented about that.

Suites 495 sq. ft. Suite: 448 sq. ft. | Balcony: 47 sq. ft.

SUITE 1125 | 441 sq. ft. Suite: 385 sq. ft. | Balcony: 56 sq. ft.
