  1. was on Splendor April last year and it was a clean and well maintained ship. We didnt care about all the pink donuts. some go as far as to say that all the pink donuts and decor ruined their cruise. Whatever. Ship may not have guys burger but it does have a burger joint that serves decent burgers and fries. No Blue Iguana burrito bar but it does have a simple burrito bar and it was good. great staff and our MDR waiter and his helpers were amazing and funny.

As far as older ship? there's only 5 other ships in Carnivals 25 ship fleet that are newer then Splendor

That's what I was thinking! 2008 is not that old! It will actually be the newest Carnival ship I've been on. Last 3 years I've been on Sensation, Paradise and Liberty. So I'm excited about the Splendor!

  2. Took a Premier cruise in April (on the Magic out of Port Canaveral). Blackjack minimum was $6; craps table was $5 (very surprising), I believe that roulette was also $5 (though I did not play). Though there were 300+ Premier guests, I did not find that the casino was so crowded that you could not find a place to play. Also, the drink service (even with free drinks for me and my guest all week) was excellent. I do know that each ship / itinerary is different, but I was a bit concerned about table minimums and service on Premier cruise, but was pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the info. I'm taking a premier cruise on Splendor out of Fort Lauderdale in Sept. I hope I experience the same as you did.

Question. Since you had the DOU card, did you skip on the Cheers program? I can't decide whether to buy it or not, if I do the DOU card would be deemed worthless..

  3. It does vary by ship but I believe I was told by the roulette dealer that fleet wide it is now $10. the chips are all worth $2 ( or higher if you want to buy them higher) and you are required to plan $10 min.

For blackjack, the table min is actually $6. They want you to play $1 on their bonus bet... you dont have to do that, what I do is just bet $6 on the main bet.

Craps is normally $5, unless it is a premier cruise then it is $10..

    Hope that helps.

I hate the $6 min bet, I always get OCD about it and just bet a min of $10.

I'm usually a strictly blackjack girl, but have been trying to learn to play craps for the next cruise, but it is a premier cruise. So damn I guess min is $10. Now does that raise all the min bets, (such as come bets, place bets, etc.) on table or just initial pass line or don't pass bet?

    Thanks

  4. I'm very excited for this! I love watching the lip sync battles on jimmy Fallon! I'm not upset at all about it replacing the "main" shows as I find them pretty stupid anyways. I usually only go to comedy and love and marriage lately, but I can't wait to see this too!

  5. I went on something similar to this in St. Thomas and it was one of my favorite excursions. Not really due to the snorkeling but the boat ride with rum punch and fun music, the crew was all young in their 20's and it was a blast! Considering doing this in Nassau, and hoping for the same...

  6. I would like to know this to. I saw in older posts that you can buy a beach day pass directly from Atlantis for $70 includes lunch, chair, towel and access to everything except water park and pools. I'm wondering if this is still the case?

  7. here's are 2 other questions - can you go up with 2 S&S cards and order 2 alcoholic drinks or do you have to be present with your card...

and if my husband and I both go to the bar will we each be able to order a drink using our respective cards?

kind of odd questions.. but I am still struggling with whether or not it's worth it to get cheers..

Depends on the bartender. I only ran into the problem one time where both had to be present. Every other time they let my friend go up and order with both our cards, me not being there.

    & yes of course

  8. The one I went one in January had almost every table open at night.

Yes you would have to pay for all other drinks when not playing. We got Cheers even though we had the DOU. We actually drink more sitting by the pool, at dinner and at shows than we do in the casino so it made sense. Plus with Cheers you can just go to the casino bar and grab a drink instead of having to wait.

Thanks that probably what I'll do! Just seems like DOU is kind of a waste, instead they just give Cheers discount or something!

  9. I like in Orlando, FL and the weather in December really depends. Could be as cold as 40-50 degrees or could be as hot as 85 degrees. From experience, the most common is the 70s. The closer you are to Christmas, the hotter it will be too. It's never cold on Christmas here

  10. Haven't done a short Premier cruise, but have done many 7-day ones on Carnival and Holland America. They are fun and the free drinks for myself and my spouse in the casino all week was always a great perk. There is a cocktail party before the ship leaves port. The only bad thing is the casinos were always packed because of so many being on the Premier cruises. I've received many hundreds of dollars more than just $100 on the 7-day cruises, but $100 is nothing to sneeze at. Enjoy the cruise!

So question about the DOU card, since you can only drink while gambling, you have to pay all other drinks at shows, by pool, or at dinner a la carte? I always get the Cheers and get my money's worth. But if I got Cheers on this cruise, the DOU card would be worthless. Any suggestions?

  11. Book it before the fare goes up or it becomes sold out. The casino is indeed more crowded and smokier on premier cruises than regular oes. There are drawings like fireball and snowball raffles and the prizes can be anywhere from $300 to $1500 but you must be present to win. Lots of gifts and comps as mentioned. Found something new in my cabin almost every day , I liked the yellow pool towels the best.

I was worried about not being able to get on a table. I was just on a cruise this past weekend of the Liberty and couldn't get on a table between 7-11 on two night, good thing I'm a night owl and always closed the casino down! I smoke so that doesn't bother me. Do they not open up more tables? I usually play $10 tables which usually aren't as crowed as the $6, but the Liberty only had $6 and $25. I play blackjack exclusively. Actually the last cruise I started to play Fun 21 to bypass those automatic shufflers.

  12. EMBARKATION DAY CONT.:

Can you review with us what Dive In Movies were shown on this cruise. I'm going in 2 weeks with my 14 year old son and would love to have an idea as this is one of our favorite things to do is lay in a lounger in the evening and catch a movie. thanks.

I was just on the Liberty over the weekend. They showed fantastic beasts, trolls, ghostbusters. That's all I remember, there was a couple others

  13. Received an offer for a premier getaway cruise if I book by June 29th. Looks like it includes a lot of perks including $100 casino cash, free drinks in casino, gifts and invite only events. I'm thinking about booking one for Sept 14 4 day Bahamas on the Splendor. Has anyone done one of these before, what are they like?

  14. And if you want to do something in La Romano, do the dune buggy excursion. It was the best excursion ever. Came back all muddy and you get to drive them through the small town and see the people and sugar cane fields. Everyone on the ship was jealous when we returned covered in mud. It was exhilarating and very fun.

That sounds awesome! Thanks! I did a dune buggy excursion in Cozumel years back, and it was one of my favorite excursions of all time

  15. Hello all,

I'm planning a Southern Caribbean cruise for me, my friends (aged 25-27) and my family for May 2018. I'm trying to decide which cruise would be best for us, and I'm looking for some opinions.

8 Day Southern Caribbean - Carnival Sunshine

Port Canaveral - Aruba, Curaçao, and Grand Turk

8 Day Southern Caribbean - Carnival Vista

Miami - Aruba, Curaçao, Grand Turk, and La Romano (Dominican Republic)

First of all, we are partiers! We drink a lot and play blackjack a ton. We usually stay out til 3am and really enjoy a lively crowd. We enjoy a lot of activities throughout the cruise such as great music, funny shows (comedy, love & marriage, quest, etc.), trivia, deck parties, the nightclub, and so on. Another point is we live about 30 minutes away from Port Canaveral, so that's where we usually go out of always, but Vista looks like such a nice ship that we are considering the trip to Miami. Also, I always get nervous with longer cruises do to the crowd changed a bit from our usual 3/4 day cruises.

So what do you think? Any experiences of your own?

    I appreciate any responses, thanks

  16. Depends time of year. When kids are out, they go cruising, when they are in school, less kids/families cruising.

We went on Glory in October and there weren't all that many kids on the ship. On Oasis in July and there were kids and families EVERYWHERE.

I don't want kids and families. I want people in their 20s/30s. Maybe May would be an okay time?
