I am happy when i do not have to use the internet . I am on vacation. No social presence at all . But have to for business Last time we sailed we had 1 hour each I used about 10 minutes for each day . I log in down load my email get off read them off line then respond to them send them off line log back in they get sent and back off . Normally get around 200 -300 emails per day . They are service calls really do not have to see them but some i do . I ma on a mail server that can do that . On the other hand the minimum cabin is about 800.00 per day can we not afford 20.00 per day ????

If we are not particularly insistent on where to eat on a particular day, but just wish to try out all restaurants at least once during our 14 days voyage, do we have to pre-book or can we just take our chances and go to any one available on any day?
Pre book if you want to visit all restaurants

Reports are that the main dining room on the Seven Seas Explorer is noisy, you have to queue, and there are seats nearby if the wait is going to be lengthy. This is Regent’s latest fleet addition, which is claimed to be the most luxurious ship in the world.
Friends who sailed Regent last year on the Mariner, in the most expensive suite on board, were unable to dine in any of its speciality restaurants because they had not made reservations prior to embarkation.
SS is therefore seemingly not alone in not being able to cater properly for passengers’ expectations and this also proves my point that MDRs when full are noisy, and when empty are soulless.
Returning to Seven Seas’ Explorer, many of the balcony doors have been modified to include additional seals, because they were not airtight, causing whistles. Bear in mind the ship is less than nine months old, and was also built by Fincanteri, as was the Muse.
Kindest regards
Master Echo
It seem like new builds are going to the reservation system before you board . It seems like anything over 500 passengers or so is going that way .

You queued up for the main dining room on Silver Muse?
There are 8 restaurants and none are MDR.
Which did you queue for?
It was on Crystal On line you choose date and time for MDR you can walk in but the wait can be long Unlike when we where on the Wind and the Whisper Just walked in no wait
-
Why did we have to go on line and book the MDR . I quess you did not have to BUT you had to wait as the line for no reservation was long at certain
-
Mass markets MDR have had anytime dining for years . We have been on mass, Silver Seas twice and Crystal in Feb. It seems like the Muse is going like Crystal is . You have to make a reservation for the MDR in advance or if you do not you have to wait and see . In the alternative dining room we got to dine one time each and if you wanted a second time you had to pay. In certain categories. On Silver Sea we just went down and walked in small ship can do that . That was great but to many formal nights . It was like when we where on Cunard Vista- fjord, many moons ago . Times change people change wait till Silver Seas goes
Elegant casual there will be a great disturbance in the Force.

It is a new concept they will have to work out the Kinks. When the mass market first started anytime dining everyone complained and said it will never work due to large capacity of ship . Now it mostly what everyone wants .

All of this is the antithesis of luxury to me. Who wants all this stress and worry about reservations? Deciding months in advance where you will want to eat on any given night. Making reservations. Reservations not shown up. Reservations times different from time booked. Different dress codes in different restaurants. The whole thing sounds like management picked slips of paper out of a hat with rules and whatever came up they implemented.
A little off the subject BUT just off Crystal and you have to make reservations for all their restaurants . Really had no problems with it only one night we could not get what we wanted as we booked 2 weeks before sail date We have been on SS two times before like the just walk in . Also only had one black tie night out of 10 BUT no tie needed only a jacket

We have a travel phone with a world sim card . Works any where there is a signal.

Blazer I was told in Mens warehouse is just a looser fit suit coat . When I needed a new suit a few years ago I got a Charcoal Herringbone Modern Fit Casual Coat. I have worn it on Silver for formal with a tie and semi without very light weight . Only reason I buy there they have cut i need I am sure you can get something like it anywhere.

Times are changing. People want to eat at different venues. We have been on Silver Seas and you have to pack for formal nights and semi formal makes flying weight a problem . What is strange that Silver is the only high end cruise line to have that dress code , We are going on Crystal first time and there is what they call Black Tie on night BUT it also says tie optional.

Did you think about email where you are staying and se if they would do it for you ??
We went to all inclusive in Cuba we tool a couple of private tours and resort paid for that and we paid on our cc to the resort . We had tours guides pay for things and resort paid them and put on the credit card

Capital One has the best rewards . You buy what you want using the card like normal and then pay the for the cruise using the points to pay the bill on your statement so no ones knows you are using points. I have a business Venture card this year have racked up 2.5 million points. But have 15 cards being used for my business

If you use Park and Fly which is down the street the parking is on pavement and they do not take your keys . We use them all the time . I do not like Park and Go as they move your car around.
-
How about le Blanc? I know its pricier, but will pay more if the food/service and accomadations are exceptional. Looking for more relaxing and tranquil resort as opposed to party-central.
Try Excellence Resort we go to Mexico every year in Sept and stay there or at Secrets. We only do adults only.

For around 55 dollars each way is that worth dragging luggage and worrying about the neighbor hood

Informal dress is one thing. Formal is another. I highly doubt that they would require formal dress in venues. You don't even have to dress formally now on formal nights. It's a concept that is fading fast. As the demographics continue to drop in age, the trend to more casual attire will continue.
It should be changed soon we hope. SS is the last hold out.

We where upgraded to a silver suite from a ocean view and we did have free laundry. The difference was amazing. That might never happen again :( Ordered lamb curry for lunch and it even cam with naan bread. To our surprise someone ordered raw oysters in advance at our table and they had enough for two nights

Dark suit works fine with tie gave up my tux years ago. Semi will need just jacket no tie. No smoking in cabins or balcony. Only in certain areas or in cigar lounge.
