We've tipped between $0 and $75 depending on service provided, and number of times child attended.

Our February 15, 2018 Gem roll call has the same problem. The find roll call function is glitchy.

The only possible thing I can think of is that they consider the program a hassle and are marking up a rate and saying with that rate you can do the Upgrade Advantage program.
I agree.
Bidding creates more "work":
Explaining the program;
More hand holding / interaction or touches with the client "when will I hear?". I didn't hear did you, TA?" "Should I increase my bid?" "How much should I increase it?"
Invoicing client
Etc.

Oh my gosh people! I really wish that I could delete this thread. As I’ve said over and over, I understand the rules and I am happy! My point was that the language of compensation was silly. I used that word! I am NOT UNHAPPY. Are all people on this board just looking to get offended for NCL? I did not say that I was mad or that they broke the rules or anything. I said the word COMPENSATION was SILLY!

You're right, lets focus on mocking the person making $9 an hour for improper use of work compensation.

I was going to suggest upgrading to the Garden Villa as well.

I don't understand why it is so hard to call and check on the situation. Maybe OP misread the email about both cabins and only one was graded.
I read the OP's message as s/he was upgraded and their traveling companion's cabin has the issue.
NCL isn't / shouldn't provide cabin information to another party, perhaps.

All good points noted above.
Two small points: (1) Someone has to pay for the UBP, and that is through higher fares for all;
(2) I'm not familiar with other cruise lines, but I think it is important to compare net to net pricing... but on NCL it seems that no pays "retail price" anymore: Bank of America MasterCard (3% Discount), Future Cruise Credit (5% Discount), NCL "tax free" / 3rd or 4th passenger free promotions (xx% Discount), etc.

Maybe NCL gave the free seats to bump up the attendance for the initial shows?

OP, good review of the limitations of Splash Academy (SA) and advice to show up early.
From my hours spent in line at Splash Academy over the years, my frustration is the check in. It's not a staffing issue at check in, but rather a "needy parents" issue. Check in takes about twenty seconds if prepared or been to SA more than once. But many parents (1) want to review with staff, activities that are planned, (2) Want to know if "Freckles" is working, (3) Generally don't know where they are going, to provide an answer to the "where will you be?" question, which leads to a side family discussion of what restaurant / service area they are interested in visiting following drop off. (4) Showing up to SA without bracelet / key cards.

Congratulations. I've learned a lot from many of your posts.

Consider a CruiseNext Certificate with any OBC leftover.

Interesting to see the sixty or so posters to this thread that remain seating during the performance and CD's comments after the show are in the significant minority.
Because no one disrespects / shows their back to the CD either, do they?

I hope Lady Margaret has recovered.

Sometimes the NCL excursion credit works well for some on the Boston - Bermuda cruise due to being in Bermuda on Sunday and public holidays. While you can certainly take taxis (25% premium for Sunday travel) and buses and ferries (limited Sunday schedule) you are only in Bermuda for 50 hours and can waste some time waiting for buses, etc.
-
We tip each cruise. Interestingly if you are using your onboard account to tip, you must tip an individual, guest services cannot generate a misc. gratuity voucher for "Splash Academy Staff" or so they said.
-
Anyone know if there’s a way to confirm they got their just due? We put in vouchers for our room steward and two bartenders.
I provide the carbon copy receipt to the employee I tip. Then it is between them and NCL.
-
Maybe NCL is using / used it for marketing purposes, and is simply cleaning out the files?
-
A couple of years ago we had a cabin right at the elevators, and with all the choices of cabins vowed never again. We travel holiday weeks, and there were just too many family reunions in the early morning hours...
We book about six - eight cabins from the elevator lobby and haven't heard a peep

Tried to do this on Gem in December and they would not do it. "We don't do that" I was told. They said I could add a tip to a slip if I wanted to tip a waiter or waitress. That certainly comes out of your non-refundable OBC.
Have you tried doing this since last month?
We've gotten the "no, can't do it" answer a couple of times over the years and suggested the individual go speak to their supervisor... and they've always come back from the back room with "no problem, sir".
Another note: the tips have to be to a specific person, not a group like "Splash Academy" and you need the employees name, not their nickname or Americanized name.
Vince, we'll check again next month and report back.

What a scam, their money back and a free HAVEN cruise. So now anyone who has cruised before (the article stated that this couple had previously sailed out of Boston and NYC) can simply show up without proper paperwork, get a full refund, and a free cruise worth 5x what they paid for. I'm glad I know how it works now.
There are thinks to get worked up about in life. This isn't one of them.
-
Surprised no one has brought up travel insurance.
-
I would call the excursion department, cancel my booked excursions (credit card refund), and immediately rebook with the excursion department and pay for the excursions onboard.
-
How much do the cabanas at GSC cost?
Prices vary by supply and demand with higher prices generally charged on the bigger ships.

OP, Your Adobe Acrobat / .pdf software may be out of date.
