Hello - Is it doable to make a 10:30 am flight home from the miami port?  Can I walk off early w/ my luggage, if so, do they designate a time that I can walk off early?  Thanks

Probably wouldn't book that in a normal world.  Especially not in a Covid world.

There is testing at the port available. The links are at the bottom of this FAQ page.  You will pay for the tests and have to schedule in advance.  They want it to be a last resort if you can't schedule something otherwise.

Note that link say's at port testing is EXTREMLY LIMITED.  Their caps and bold print.

I had listed 3rd dose also already as the date. Just second guessing myself. Will be getting on Sunday 10/10. I’m just so stressed out with this & getting tested tomorrow. It’s taking the excitement out of preparing for a long awaited cruise.

They couldn't care less right now about boosters.  You should have just listed the date of your second shot and kept it simple....

My phone does not have the capability of ruining my vacation over the possibility that I might have been to close to someone who might have COVID.

Exactly.  The people comparing tracelets on a ship to cell phones are making a pointless, irrelevant comparison.  Tracelets have ONE purpose - to control covid yes, but to do so by tracking down and isolating people (and screw up their vacation).

I just came off an 8 night Odyssey sailing. Embarkation and debarkation was an absolute breeze as we were sailing with ONLY just over 1000 passengers. From parking lot to cabin in 20 minutes. The ship was absolutely gorgeous and immaculate....crew is cleaning all the time. Protocols are in place and weren't a bother...felt VERY safe at all times. Crew is Wonderfull ...you are sailing on a ship with more crew than passengers. They couldn't do more for you....very friendly and so happy to be sailing. No waits for anything and everything on the ship up and running. Shows every night as well as several parties including the 70's party. Elevators were mostly always empty....think I can count on one hand how many times I shared an elevator with anyone. Masks were worn indoors walking around but could take them off at many venues once inside...including the casino...they became second nature and weren't a bother at all. It was like being on an exclusive sailing that will spoil the heck out of you. This was my second sailing since restart as I was also on the very first Edge sailing out. I couldn't recommend cruising more right now...just an excellent experience that will be fondly remembered when cruising is back to full capacity. So if you have been holding back because of current testing protocols and masks......think gain....it is so worth cruising right now!!!

What ports?  And what were things like at them?

We had a cabin under the windjammer  and found the noise of the rolling carts very early in the morning as the staff was preparing breakfast to be somewhat annoying. Every morning you could hear the bumping of the wheels over the tile floor.

We had a Jr Suite under Windjammer on Jewel.  The noise from the carts was LOUD, and started EARLY.  As in 4-5:00AM.   We will never book a room under Windjammer again.  Ever.

Truly a trip of a lifetime!  It was everything I imagined and so much more.  I absolutely loved the ship!  and Alaska is the most beautiful place Ive ever been in my life.   Im still awestruck by the whole experience!

We spent 9 nights in Alaska at the end of August.  Agreed, it is spectacular.  We got very lucky on the weather, clear and sunny most days..  Now we'll need to go back on a cruise ship someday 🙂

Kind of funny that water is free all over the ship and you will use drink vouchers for bottled water that literally cost about $0.25 in the grocery store.    You can use those vouchers for coffee, soda, and NA drinks.  Instead, order a case of water for the room, and your vouchers for something else.

Cruise critic is getting back to normal.  A simple yes or no question results in long detailed unsolicited advice.

We stayed at a Hampton (I think) in the Bricknell section of Miami.  There was a train station within walking distance, but we did not use it to get to the Port of Miami.

At the hotel you could reserve a seat on a shuttle to the docks for something like $8 or $10 per person.

We reserved a seat on the 11:30 shuttle.  The van held 14 or so.  The driver starts loading, about 10 are seated and then all realize there was 1 too many people than there were seats.

Driver scratches his head and starts to check the names of the people.  The first two people who sat were actually on the 1:30 schedule.  He tried to get them to exit AND THEY REFUSED.   Then proceeded one of those arguments that I interpreted as “we are entitled” so they would not leave. Someone in the back sat on anothers lap, or they sardined in somehow, but that couple did not leave.

Since Covid I told my wife I am becoming a curmudgeon, so if it happens again I may have to spout off.

One of many reasons hotel shuttles aren't the best option.

I understand your frustration, but anyone who booked cruises after April, 2020 was IMO willing to take a gamble with when cruises would start back up and what the protocols would be - exactly why I haven’t booked anything new and won’t until cruising offers me a product that is relaxed and stress free.

I have a cruise for January that was booked in the fall of 2019, so I’m going ahead with that, but nothing else.

Agreed.  They cancelled our January 2022 cruise and we were glad - just received the non refundable deposit back 🙂   It was an old one that had first lifted and shifted to January 2021......    No plans to book anything for a while.  RCCL is lucky there are people willing to put up with tests, masks, onboard/port restrictions, tracelets, etc etc etc.
