  1. Hi all,

I am thinking I should get a 3 or 4 night package for the two of us. Have heard comments that if you pre-buy this through the cruise planner you can experience negatives including:

    - You get a different menu than if you just booked and charged it up onboard.

    - You can get just as good or better discounts onboard anyway

    - You risk being unable to get a reservation to fully use the package up.

Is the above all baloney or not?

I would hope to use the package over the four sea days - as will probably be tuckered out by the end of each port day.

    Any comments or recommendations?

    Thanks

I could wear my last Sign and Sail Carnival card, and flaunt my Gold status on X, Hal, and Princess.

"I know it's the wrong ship, but I'm Gold over there.  What are you here, Select?  Pssshh."

LOL, I was thinking of bringing my souvenir Carnival lanyard. It's got a nice ship's wheel locket plus the Carnival branding on the webbing strap. Should light up any snobs near by.

Thanks for all the replies- eventually got it to work. VERY not intuitive. Ended up taking pics through the app though.

How did you get it to work?

I have the same problem - two pax on the one reservation. I can view/print the 2nd person but not the first (me!). It just goes into an animated Celebrity 'X' as attached and sits there forever.

  4. Just reporting back - I asked our TA to load our TA beverage package perks onto our CC cruise planner account - he didn't seem to understand how to do it, so I persisted and he got Celebrity to do it for him. So now I see an upgrade option for 11 day cruise classic package upgrade to premium for $104 per person.

It doesn't say that it's a special, but it looks about $5 a day cheaper than the regular price differential between the packages.

I had a similar situation. My classic pkg was a perk from our TA not Celebrity, so when I called Captains Club (I’d much rather call then work the website) to get the upgrade it didn’t show. I did have to call my TA to get it input to the cruise planner. Then I called Captains Club back & got the 30% off the beverage upgrade which is a over $90 savings for us. Took me about 15 minutes total...my time was worth it.   Good luck

Hi awhfy and thanks for this great advice. We're with a TA so I'll just email him. I hate talking to people on the phone!

I just tried to get into our booking and it says it can't find it... some glitch with the website.. go figure.

Am going to go back and look at the bev packages.. I booked us the prem package because its 50% off for us...and want to see what the difference is for the classic...I thought classic didn't include coffees at Bacio - however checked and they are... will see what the $ difference is....When I can get back into my file. Sheesh!!!

Yeah it's glitched. I was already logged in there, then it spat me out and can't log back in again...

  7. Hi all, please bear with me on this:

Our 4/1/19 11 day Reflection cruise includes classic bev package perk but it's not listed on the cruise planner. If I add it to the cart online it's priced at $1,225.32 for two pax, and if I add the premium it's $1,433 for two. So... does that mean if I get them to add the perk into the planner and upgrade it I'll only pay the difference of $208 for the two of us? Can I use the OBC for that? Is this actually a discount?

All a bit confusing to me - thanks for any clarification.

  8. Flyertalker - yep there's a carry-on restriction for "Basic Economy" - any item brought onboard must fit under the seat in front of you as you are restricted from using the overhead bins.

Looks like IAH-MIA is quite a lot cheaper, just have to get from there to Port Everglades...

For What It's Worth, you don't seem to understand the bogus Cruise Air "guarantee".

If someone says FWIW then they are questioning the worth, so have not fallen for the "marketing carp".

Would have thought this was obvious. Oh well, never mind.

HaHaHa.  Best laugh of the day.

I wonder if you can find exactly where they "assure your flight will be in time"  Read the terms and conditions closely and come back and report.

Yeah, I know. Do you know what "FWIW" means?

    To answer your question:

    http://www.cruisingpower.com/choiceair/protected/aboutChoiceAir.do

    "Why choose ChoiceAir®?

ChoiceAir® provides premium benefits that give you everything you want in airfare. It provides the best value, the assurance that the flights you select will get you to the ship on time, the flexibility to choose your airline, and flights, and the assurance that a round-the-clock support specialist is available throughout your travel."

    and:

"What happens when my flight is delayed?

Assured Arrival is our guarantee to assist our ChoiceAir® guests when they encounter any flight disruptions that occur through no fault of their own. We have a team of Emergency Travel Specialists standing by that proactively monitor flights and act as a liason between our ships and our guests. This team is available to assist you 24/7 @ 800-256-6649 (domestically) or 305-539-4107 (internationally)."

  11. Thanks Bruce. I can see that Matrix ITA (owned by Google apparently?) is showing me the same prices as both GoogleFlights and UA.

The difference is that the $323 price is "basic economy" vs $383 for standard economy. (My $399 standard economy was coming back an extra day later  on standard economy).

Other than no seat select, not sure what you lose on "basic". Neither includes a checked in bag.

A benefit of CCA (other than the tiny price difference to standard economy) that they will assure your flight will be in time to board and will assist if any disruption affects this... FWIW.

Absolutely no one is going to be able to tell you what the price might do. To say Celebrity "always" has the cheaper airfares...remember the rules about "always" and "never"?

Currently I am seeing many United flights at about $355, for a random weekend pair of flights, as we don't have any hard details on your scheduling.

Having been watching on and off for a couple of months, CelebrityCruiseAir has always shown a slightly lower price than the likes of Google Flights, UA etc hence the comment.

As you can see on my sig banner, looking at 1-12 April. Currently UA has $399 and CCA has $393, both for same flight in "standard economy".

Not personally familiar with USA domestic airfare market hence the question. Perhaps someone with familiarity with this route will know if this price varies or is pretty much fixed.

  13. Hi - currently this flight on CelebrityCruiseAir is just under $400 return. Is that as good as it gets? Should I book it now or wait?

From what I can tell, the Celebrity price is always a little bit cheaper than anywhere else's price - true?

    Thanks

  14. ChoiceAir is just a TA but they only offer flights on certain airlines. One always should check ChoiceAir vs other TA's and the airlines themselves. There are many widely used airline booking sites on the web....orbitz, kayak, hipmunk (and many others we can't mention here due to rules)...and some airlines don't sell through any of those sites.

The one place you almost always find ChoiceAir less expensive is on one way tickets to/from Europe on major airlines...but if you are shopping price, you may find that airlines like WOW are even less expensive, albeit with an extra stop somewhere.

Travel planning can be almost a full time job these days...

Aint that the truth! CA did offer flights on United, which had the best deals on other sources.

It knew about the brand new AKL-ORD route which hasn't even started flying yet, so seems to be up to date. But it put up strange stop overs which make the trip longer and more expensive than necessary.

I am pretty sure I was searching too far out and most of the airlines haven't published fares for that date. If I bring the date back a few months I get far better options, including a 1-stop for $750 and a multi stop death march for $500.

Still seems to be cheaper to book two one ways rather than a round trip.

  15. OMG maybe I am looking at this too far out but ChoiceAir is offering me truly awful choices for an AKL-FLL flight on 4/1/19...

$1094 one way, 2 stops and 30 hours argh!

    Google flights found a 1 stop, 24h (6h lay-over in SFO) and $560 !

No real difference for return flights - just double the price.

Working by hand I was able to get an even better 1 stop route through IAH...

  16. 1) People who save entire rows of seats at shows, and have only 1/3 of their friends show up...often late...and leave a row mostly unfilled.

2). People who get to shows late, and decide to stand behind the back row...and drink & talk loudly while the show is happening. My gosh, if all you want to do is talk and drink, go find yourself a bar or other hangout. Plenty of them on the ship, and then others can catch the show.

    First world problems, I know.
