Yep, depends on the bartender...
It's too bad you can't use Cheers on room service beersies nor on buckets.

Thanks to everyone who posted in this thread.
DH and I have thought, (up until now) that "we wouldn't drink enough to make it worth it." However, after reading all of these posts, we're going for it! We love specialty coffees, and would definitely want bottled water and powerade (?) drinks. Even if we don't drink 15 alcoholic beverages everyday, the others will make up for it. As someone said, we're on vacation, and we'll just factor it in to the cruise price.:)
I think you made the right decision. After your cruise please let us know if you did!

We cruise with the HoMedics Sounds Spa Relaxation Sound Machine and it is amazing! We set it to "ocean" sounds. :p

I can't stand the angry drone of a fan - that looks *much* better.
Generally I just take a pack of these in case I run into a noisy night:

and sleep like a baby.
One of the ones that sleeps that is, not one of the ones that keeps waking up crying.

Babe and I will probably never purchase cheers. I really wish we could but we cannot justify spending $804 extra on the cruise package. One day when I'm retired in 25 years. >_<

But are you sure you won't spend even more? It's very easy to get through the 5-6 drinks per day (not just booze, that's any paid-for drink) that puts you over that line.

I tried almond milk and found the taste and consistency awful. Bitter and thin.
-
Heh yeah. I got FTTF to get on faster. Not in any great hurry to get off. Would like to spend some more Cheers! and eat some more bacon first.

Agreed. The camera on a Galaxy S7 or iPhone6 is now pretty darn good for snapshots. Too bad they can't optically zoom is all.
The fact they can then deliver the photos is a real bonus over digital cameras that typically require you to cable up or transfer a memory card to a PC.
Oh, and S7 is waterproof so you can take a nice snorkelling pic

This is something Carnival could learn from NCL, who have a rather good incentive scheme to put deposits down while aboard and get up to half the amount back in OBC:

I just realized - our long haul flight arrives LAX same day at around the same time this game starts - duh!
But... cruise returns to Long Beach on the 22nd at 9am, and there's an evening Angels home game vs Toronto. And there's a movie and post game fireworks!
-
Thanks for the feedback. It is all about the experience ... the razzmatazz, the entertainment etc. If the Angels game has it then probably not worth the hassle of getting to and from Dodger Stadium.
Surprisingly little difference in ticket prices between the two for many of the tickets, although the super premium Dodgers tickets are a lot more.
BTW - from what I can see Dodgers and Angels are in the same league?
I've discovered a few seat recommendation sites... still a bit confusing but getting there. Actually quite excited about going to the a game now.
-
I needed connecting rooms and it was impossible online - none were available for my cruise. I called Carnival and the CSR offered me a number of connecting room options that were not available online.
So YMMV, depending on requirement, but if you have any complexity at all, I suggest it's better to call.

and put aside some money for parking. Haven't been there in some years but I would imagine you can get the details on the LA dodgers website.
Thanks but not planning in getting a car - too used to driving on the left side of the road to be bothered with driving myself over there. We'll be ubering in from about an hour or so away in Anaheim resort district.
There's a local Angels-Rangers game the day before at the Angels stadium. It would be so much easier but it's not going to be the same experience, is it? And no fireworks show afterwards.

I've seen MSC cheaper fairly often too
Yep that's what always stands out for me too.

Hi - we have a couple of nights in LA prior to cruise on 15 April. Apparently there's a Dodgers home game on the 14th, am I reading this right?
So the seats run from $5 to $919? What's a good but not too expensive family seating area? What else should I know. Never been to a baseball game ever.
Thanks

Not sure what the tidal range is there, but I'm surprised they didn't float it in on a spring high tide and rest it on a cradle, build a levee around it and drain the water and keep it dry.
-
I'm sure it happens, it sounds expensive to me and I honestly hope I don't encounter one because I would imagine it causes a disruption to other activities and services.
My wife decorates cakes for a business and has an arrangement to deliver wedding cakes as required to P&O ships in Auckland. As it is close to my office I delivered one for her to Pacific Pearl last Friday.

They were navigating their watercraft in an active shipping channel and not following the rules of the road.
The report I read was that they tipped out and then drifted into the channel?
I've never seen a jetski invert and stay inverted like that - usually they self-right.
-
True, but like the Vista that I booked over a year out, it never dropped once since I booked. Only went higher .......
I'm finding the same thing on our cruise - only the guarantee balconies are dropping. I was starting to think that Carnival use this tool to prevent paying out on price drops, but I do see some significant drops on similar Carnival cruises coming up, e.g.
-
Our upcoming April Mexican Riviera cruise looks roughly the same price in April 2019, but there is a change of ship.
-
At least you have the price drop guarantee.

It does seem that every nearly manufactured food product has some kind of dairy ingredient in it.
I too have heard negative anecdotes about soy but haven't been able to back them up from mainstream authoritative sources. Like anything, best to keep consumption of it in moderation.

My DW did a stint serving cocktails on Caribbean cruise ships when she was a youngster and has plenty of funny passenger stories. Like the one who asked what time the midnight buffet is. She was once asked where she was from. "New Zealand". And the reply "well you speak English very well, dear!"
The ship's captain had a New Zealand wife so liked chatting with my DW and would always request her to bring a coffee up to the bridge. Cost her a lot in lost tips, apparently.
-
Interested to hear any answer too. I just stopped dairy but I found almond milk tasted a bit thin and bitter in my coffee so am currently trying out soy milk. Might end up just sticking to black eventually!

Nice idea, pulledporky. It's nice to see some of the more authentic Mexico rather than just resorts.
I'll skip Mass, though!
