I'd want a pretty good saving to go private. I would not want to save ten bucks only to lose tender priority and the guarantee that I won't miss the ship!

We are drinkers, but don't drink during the day....we are the 5pm-midnight drinkers!
Don't forget - during the day you also can get your juices, sodas, shakes, bottled water and barista coffees on Cheers.

Do they have a parasail operator that winches you on and off the back of the boat? I'd prefer that for safety.

Heh, I'm afraid not. All they do is confiscate the grog, but you can get it back at the end of the cruise anyway, so not much disincentive to give it a try, is there?

On Pride of America I was chatting with security and asked if there was a brig and could it be viewed on a ship tour. Answers: yes and no.

Maybe they misunderstood... I'd just not mention Cheers at all, buy the round on your account for all but your own drink, then after that is completed, get your own drink on Cheers.
Maybe that will get around it?

I bought a round of Woo Woo shots for our table in the MDR on the first night....I got a credit for one drink and billed for the rest. However, once I hit my 15 drinks for the day....the couldn't sell me a drink...no matter how sober I was.
For that round. only the Cheers drinks count, i.e. one, counted against the 15, right.
And further, you shouldn't have to buy another off your allocation until it's your round again so it's a wash anyway.

On our last cruise, NCL Pride of America around Hawaii, our muster station was the Steakhouse restaurant and we all just sat down at the tables!

My DW once worked serving cocktails on a cruise ship off the east coast. Crew also had to be at certain locations for the drills, but she hated it, mainly because the drills were always at a time she could get a rare rest. She would hide in the tiny closet in their cabin until the drill was over! The crew cabins were checked but all they did was open the door and peek inside.

In terms of hogging chairs/sunbeds or whatever one wants to call them on the pool deck, it has pretty well been established that there is no policy. Therefore, unless and until one is put in place, passengers need to live with what rude passengers are doing.
Whereas Carnival do have a specific policy, but sadly, appear to put little or zero effort into enforcing it :-(

For us, the other costs of taking a cruise (airfares, pre/post accomodation, Cheers, excursions) absolutely swamp the price difference between balcony, OV and even inside. The uplift to suite I do avoid, but $600 -> $800 to go from inside to balcony? Hardly noticeable.

Can only comment on balcony cabins - on Carnival you will get a minibar fridge and hair dryer. If you ask, your steward will get you ice and robes. I believe on suites and spa cabins the robes will already be there.

You don't need to drink the limit of 15. So many are fixated on the number 15.
If you drink 7 or 8 alcoholic drinks a day, you're ahead of the game.
If you read my comments above in this thread you'll see that I already know that! :cool:

WOW! I can see people have opinions one way or the other. Summary is you do what's right for you.
In order for CHEERS to be worth it, you have to consumer bottled water, specialty coffees, shakes, start drinking with breakfast, stay on the ship during the port days (to consume more drinks), and basically drink all evening until 1am to make it worth it. US$50 per day x 2 people + gratuity is just a whole lot of money to spend. To each his own, but not for us. Cheers!
What? No!
A morning barista coffee with breakfast, and grab a liter of mineral water to take with you before you head off the ship. Get back in the afternoon and have a couple of beers by the pool to cool off. A cocktail before dinner. At dinner two glasses of wine. After dinner another coffee and it is paid off. Everything after that is bonus. That's drinking like a church mouse from 8am to 9pm on a port day. Have a bit of fun on a sea day and you double everything.

Because April is at the low end of the season for turtle releases, I cannot say for certain if there will be any turtles available for release.
What we usually do in that situation is keep you updated the days leading up to your visit to Mazatlan.
I do not foresee the boat ride being available at that time, as the water levels of the mangrove are already low, and we are entering the hotter months now.
If you do visit the turtle sanctuary, you will be in a naturally-protected area with a virgin beach. The beach has received a certification for being a clean beach. You will attend an information session about the turtles, and then you will go into the incubation room where the turtles are held before they hatch.
If you choose kayaking as your activity, you will then be able to experience the mangrove wetland from a unique perspective. There are many birds, and even some crocodiles that you can observe from a distance. Not to mention the tranquility of the setting.

I am most definitely not paying thousands to go on a cruise (with kids) and putting up with the unpleasant stench of cigarette or MJ smoke. And I am most definitely not going to deal with it myself either. I've paid said thousands so I don't have to deal with the kind of inconsiderate idiot that would knowingly break rules and allow their smoke to invade my cabin or balcony. Straight call to GS.
I have neither time nor sympathy for smokers who break the rules and foul the air I breathe.
