  1. You need to put pressure on your TA to contact Princess and have them release the cabin you want and make it available for the 14 day cruise. I have booked cruises where they showed no cabins available for the 14 day and when the TA contacted the correct person at Princess, they released the cabin and I was able to book the cabin for 14 days in order to get a cheaper price and more OBC. Good Luck getting your cabin

I had the same experience when I booked the Regal for 2015 Caribbean. Actually I called Princess, even though I was going to book through my TA and reasoned with them and they gave me the cabin I wanted. My TA was surprised they did it. Hope they will for you. I think it's ridiculous to show the cabins as sold for,the 14 day and available for the two 7 day.

  2. Renmar has a site, the link is below for obstructed balconies. Until recently it was assumed the port side is,the same as the starboard, however it has been noticed from the deck plans a difference in the amount of lifeboats on each side, causing the views to be different. Any pictures you may have, especially of the starboard side obstructed balconies would be so helpful for this site.

Of course, if you have pictures of the port side that are not already on his site, I'm sure he would appreciate that as well :).

Thank you for your willingness to share your pictures.

  3. We discovered that the Royal and Regal are not identical on the port side and starboard side, unlike every other Princess ship. There are pictures that have been gathered for the port side, but the view will not be the same on starboard.

Please, if you are sailing on either one of these ships and can take some pictures of the starboard side obstructed balconies, many of us would REALLY appreciate it:)

Theo will add them to his wonderful site.

    Thanks.

  4. Thanks everyone!

I do have a question about the Horizon Court. Is seating an issue with it being upfront? is it the daytime hangout? I did the BVE on the Sea Princess in San Francisco and the buffet was insane during embarkation. Is the Island any different?

Is the Bayou Cafe any good?

We are on Caribe deck starboard side aft, any issues in this location I should know?

Even though we had a balcony cabin we went early (about 5 am) to stake a claim at a table in the Horizon Court for a fantastic, air conditioned, seated view of entering the canal and watching the ship in front of us go through. We were able to take pictures through the glass windows. It filled up early as many others had the same idea. It was an incredible experience and I would do it the same way again if we went back. We sat there for hours and later went to our balcony.

  5. I have done both the chefs table and the wine makers dinner except it was on the Royal. Both were fantastic but the wine makers dinner was just as enjoyable and at a good price.

Now at the chefs table we had Alfredo Marzi who is the top executive chef for all of Princess. Alfredo's was named after him. He was fantastic. The main difference between the two dinners is where you sit. The crystal curtain that goes around the chefs table is stunning. But it really doesn't make the food taste any better. I'm glad we did do the chefs table but for that price we will not do it again. BTW that was our 4th chefs table all together. However it was by far the most expensive.

In case you didn't know the price does include a professional photo and one Princess cook book per couple signed by the chef.

We've done the Chef's Table 3 times, and won't do it again because of the latest price. I hear so much about the wine makers dinner. Does anyone know if we Would we be able to do this if we didn't drink wine? It sounds like the dinner would be very special.

  6. We will be on the Grand in 3 weeks, we've only been on the Island and were in the center of the ship. I don't ever remember the stairs being a problem for us. I've tried studying the deck plans of the Grand, but after reading yours and others reviews of the decks, I'm really confused about them. We will be at the aft on this cruise.

Use the aft elevators stairs, go to deck 7, and depending on what you will be doing and walk forward. Everything is easily accessible from those decks.

  7. Ischeer, this being my 3rd time in Venice I know I was not on the Grand Canal. This is, however, the way it was announced to the guests by the entertainment staff. I'm sure you understood the point of my post (that the Regal promenade deck has lovely space), so it must have given you joy to make me look so much less seasoned/experienced than you. This is what makes infrequent posters like me reluctant to post anything even if we have recent experience.

I found your comment very helpful and even made note of it, so I hope rudeness won't deter you from commenting again.

  8. Hi Theo,

I hope you will change the picture of E505 on the Royal/Regal as per our recent email exchange as it is clearly E506. Perhaps those who have been in the Starboard side of either of those ships will send you photos, since the Royal/Regal, unlike other ships, is different on the Starboard side than the Port side.

I have used and benefitted from your wonderful site for two upcoming cruises and really appreciate all your hard work.

  9. Poop. I just posted about the longer loops so I went to look for them. I see how to order the tags with the longer loops but don't see a way to just order more loops. Guess I'll have to stick with the short ones. :(

I have some extra, email me at elangdon2 at gmail dot com with your address and I'll mail them to you.:)

  10. Favors By Serendipity will email itinerary forms to you to insert into the tag holders for your flight, in case your luggage gets lost. You can switch it out for the printed luggage tags before boarding. I recommend the 9" loops too.

  11. Information I recently discovered about Royal/Regal.

I couldn't stop thinking about the picture of E505 on Renmar's site and why the picture didn't seem right. I watched a video of the Royal that someone took and clearly it shows that E505 is between the Davits but not with a lifeboat in front of it. I took a screen shot of the video so I could enlarge the picture. today I came across Dave's picture of E506 on CC and it looked like the same pic as on Renmar's site. So I decided to look at the deck plans. if you look at the deck plans you can see the two cabins are aligned but the placement of the lifeboats are not exactly the same.,,the Starboard side shows E505 between the Davits, whereas E506 has part of the lifeboat in front of it.

Just thought you'd want to know the port side views and Starboard side views might not be the same on the Royal/Regal.

  13. It looks like the front half of your balcony is going to be behind one of the davits, the aft part of your balcony open to the space between davits.

Thanks, Dave. This is consistent with the deck plans. I appreciate your help :)

  14. I booked E 505 on the Royal. The deck plans show it between two lifeboats. However when I look at the picture on Renmar's site, it looks like the lifeboat is in front of the balcony. Do you have any pictures of the outside of the ship where you put your famous arrows showing this cabin?

Has anyone stayed in this cabin?

    Regards,

    Eileen

  15. Has anyone been in E505 on the Royal/Regal? Does the tender outside this balcony come down in port? Just curious. Never had an obstructed balcony before. Do they lower all the tenders in a port? Is there a way to tell which ones they lower from the pictures? From pictures I've seen, some look smaller than others, wonder why?

  16. I just got an upgrade offer to go from a balcony on Riviera deck on the front of Caribbean Princess (under Lido cabins) to a balcony on Riviera under the doors between the pool and Horizon Court. I called and they moved me back to my original cabin. I did not consider moving from one of the most quiet areas on the ship with almost no hallway traffic to a very noisy area with chairs being hauled around right over your head an upgrade. I congratulate Princess for moving me back quickly without question.

Did you book directly with Princess or a TA? was your booking a guarantee booking, or just marked upgrade ok?

  17. We have always booked balconies,,which I carefully select because I know where I want to be on the ship and always want a covered balcony, we've always said No Upgrade.

Circumstances have changed and I've booked an OV window on one cruise and an obstructed balcony on another. This is the first time I've even considered having it marked Meta Upgrade. These are not guarantee bookings, just marked Meta Uprade.

When I asked my TA if I can refuse the upgrade if I don't like where they put us and still keep my cabin, she said lately they have been giving her 24 hours for her clients to accept or reject the offer. From what I have read in these boards, what Peprincess considers an upgrade is rarely something I would consider an upgrade, i.e. to the front of the ship or under the Horizon Court, etc.

Any recent experiences where you have been given a chance to refuse the upgrade and kept your original cabin?

Any advice from my expert friends would be appreciated...

  18. Watched all four programmes and realised that none of it captured the reality of Princess standards. The magic of the ships; the care and attention to detail of staff; the smiles around the deck; the genuinely nice people you meet; the relaxed warmth of the welcome; the food, the wine, the entertainment. Sorry to spoil it for the TV company - they made a programme and must have struggled to find oddballs, odd passengers and dumbed down shots. At the end of the day, I go for Princess every time.

Couldn't have said it better! Agree totally!:)
