  1. Hi all, For a possible cruise, I'd like to get the best offer with any credits and promo. NCL vs travel agents have the same price, but agencies are offering credits plus I'm also hoping to get our $100 per room amex platinum credit. Is there any reason why someone would book with NCL over a travel agent? Does anyone know if I can book with a travel agent who is affiliated with Amex to get an agency credit, Amex platinum credit and shareholder benefit credit? Thank you.
  2. Hi, I have a few questions regarding booking a cruise with my Amex platinum card and benefits. -does anyone know what the credit would be for a 7 or 8 night cruise per cabin? Does it vary based on cabin type such as inside vs balcony? -in addition to the credit, does each cabin get a dinner at le bistro? -im debating whether to use a sapphire reserve which gets 3x points plus a 50 percent bonus making it 4x points vs what I believe is 1x on Amex platinum for cruises. Is it worth the fewer points per dollar? Booking direct with Amex would give us 2x points but I’d lose out on an agency onboard credit, and that’s still a difference on a large purchase from 4x points, pretty much evening out the $100 credit if that’s all it is. -is it true that I can get the platinum benefits with a participating Amex travel agent and not just through amex? -is the credit offer combinable with agency or ncl credit offers or promotions? -if I’m booking two rooms, would each room get the platinum bonus and credit if booked on one family card? Or would we have to use a separate Amex platinum card for each room? For example if booking a room each for parents and kids, can a parent book both rooms on one platinum card to get the perks, or would I have to get an additional platinum card for my kids as an authorized user on my platinum account and book the other room under their card thank you very much.
  3. Hi all - if I book with ncl, I’m I then able to transfer a reservation to a travel agent for an agency credit they may be offering? Due to fcc jt would be easier to book with ncl but I usually get agency credits from travel agents. if they could still get the commission j would like to transfer. also what is the process to upgrade to the new ultimate free at sea package?
  4. Hi, im looking at a cruise for 8 nights where an ocean view is 1200 more than an inside room and a balcony 3000 more. I’ve never seen such a large difference. how do upgrades work with ncl? If bidding for an oceanview or inside, what are the chances I would get it and how much is the minimum bid? Do minimum bids sometimes actually go through? Although not guaranteed, do I have an actual chance to get an upgrade to an oceanview or balcony compared to if I was to purchase one for the substantial price difference upfront? Would I find out ahead of time or not until close to the cruise itself? thanks
  5. Hi, im looking at some holiday cruises which seem excessively high, more than usual holiday sailings. is it likely or at least possible that prices will drop after the final payment no refund 90 day deadlines passes? also ncl has promised us a credit or discount towards a next cruise due to a Covid issue last year with denied boarding. guest relations is now saying there is no record of this and they can discount, upgrade or credit anything for our next cruise. Does anyone know if there’s anyone we can reach out to? thanks
  6. Hopefully now they get rid of the 70s party that we can all recite to the minute from Sony to costume. About time for some fresh ideas and entertainment from maybe an 80s or 90s party to new type of competitive game shows with teams. Even the belly flop and hairy legs could use a revamp or replacement. Once Royal tried a cannonball competition and that at least changed it up and was something refreshing. Really thought they would have taken Covid to think of new ideas and forms of entertainment.
  7. Hi, I am debating a 3 night cruise out of Florida for a family members birthday. With us would be some seasoned cruisers and some very skeptical first time cruisers. to alleviate their concerns, i think having them book a suite and not having any sea days should help. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like the oasis class ships do any 3 night cruises but there are some options on there Independence and Liberty. Has anyone recently been on either of these ships for a short cruise? With both doing the same itinerary, is one ship better than the other? do both of these ships have the Royal amplification upgrades? It looks like entertainment wise one has Greece and the other Saturday night fever. for a 3 night cruise what should we expect entertainment wise? Does Royal usually have both the broadway show and ice show? What about the non broadway theater show? Are there any comedians or fly on acts on a 3 night cruise? Should we expect the regular live music as on a longer cruise? Is there quest on short cruises? thanks.
  8. Enjoying the live review thanks! few quick questions - any idea why the passenger count is so low? Does this have to do with low demand, ncls higher than average pricing, or have most sailings been filing up and is this an off week? also how is the live music on the ship? It looks like there is one less band and one less duo than usual. The dailies show two bands and two duos whereas I think there are usually at least 3 of each. thanks!
  9. Hi, We are looking at cruises out or New York in December. We’ve done the 8 day on Royal to Florida and Bahamas and only had 2-3 days of decent weather. For a 5 day cruise on the getaway on the 18 to Bermuda - 2 sea days and 1.5 days in Bermuda, would we be at risk for cold weather or rain and mostly being stuck inside? Doesn’t the getaway not even have an indoor pool or hottub? thanks
  10. Thanks so much hope you had a good cruise. Did it seem there was less live music than usual? Based on the dailies it looks like only two bands and two duos? how was the entertainment in general? thanks
  11. Hi, I am debating a family cruise on the getaway over the holidays. It’s double the price of a comparable Royal caribbean cruise. has anyone sailed on this ship post Covid recently? How is the entertainment on the getaway, especially for an extended period of sea days in the cold over the winter? What are your thoughts on everything from main dining to speciality restaurants, shows, fly on acts such as comedy and live music? Thanks.
  12. Anyone else know if things have been updated and if Royal caribbean took the time to improve the guest experience during Covid? Not looking for new shows but just updated theme parties or even songs for the 70s party than what’s been used the past 10 years in addition to quest, marriage and name that tune questions and even order and dining room menus? Thanks.
  13. Hi, before Covid, we cruised on some oasis class ships in addition to the anthem a number of times. While food and staff were great, everything got stale. for example on anthem, same shows despite being in nj for many years same name that tune on anthem down to the songs and even the order same quest questions on all ships to the point where we could recite it same marriage game show questions same ballon drop on New Years of sailing then almost the same dining room menu on different ships for a number of years same 70s dance party on all ships to the point we could recite the order of the songs and consumes by staff other cruise lines come out with new contests and activities, while changing the order and content of non production shows. I know production shows are costly to replace but things like quest questions and 70s dance party or name that tune could be updated or replaced. Does anyone know if royal caribbean took the time during Covid to develop new content, contests, and activities such in addition to menus? we want to cruise with Royal caribbean but just want some new activities and content.
  14. Hi, We are looking to go on our first post Covid cruise. We had a feeling prices would be up from last year but are shocked that prices seem to be the highest they’ve ever been, even more than pre Covid. For example, looking at the getaway for December 23 8 nights over the holidays, it would be $7,000 for two of the cheapest balcony cabins for 4 people. Does anyone think that if we were to wait, prices may come down in a effort for NCL to fill the ships for what seems to be incredibly highly priced at the moment? Thanks!
  15. Hi all, we are looking at winter cruises and there seem to be some really good deals on the anthem. We would like to leave from New York and not deal with the price and hassle of flying. while we have had two great cruises on the anthem, it felt very repetitive and we are worried a third cruise would be even more of the same. For a ship that continues to leave out of the tri state area with a number of repeat cruisers, it’s surprising they haven’t at least switched the 270 show, ice show and theater shows such as we will rock you. Even name that tune was the same songs and same order. with only the couple fly on acts and live music potentially being different and more than half of the entertainment being the same, does anyone have any experience with recently sailing on the anthem compared to prior cruises? While the first cruise was great, the second felt a lot like the same and we are worried the third will be even more repetitive. i know it’s costly to change shows, but does anyone know why Royal Caribbean hasn’t replaced the anthem with a different ship for purposes of providing a slightly different experience with new shows and entertainment for repeat local cruisers? the ncl ships out of New York are almost double the price of many anthem sailings or else we would try that for a change. And other Royal Caribbean and Norwegian ships would require a flight or else we would consider a different oasis class, quantum class or ncl ship. thank you very much.
  16. Hi, I didn’t board my cruise the week Covid happened and received a fcc from Royal Caribbean. I have not received any information regarding deadlines. Does anyone know if Royal caribbean is offering an option to convert the fcc to a credit card refund? If not, does anyone know when this expires and how I can find out? Is there any chance Royal Caribbean would extend this? Thank you
  17. Here is the latest - the restaurant receipts we provided covered meals for the 4 of us. Insurance is ASSUMING that since a meal for the covid + family member was part of the same receipt as the other family members, that the covid family member therefore violated quarantine guidelines and dined out and left his hotel room for meals. This is absolutely false. He did not leave quarantine and remained in isolation per CDC guidelines. When the 3 negative family members dined out and ate meals, they ordered food for the covid + family member and left it in front of his hotel room door where he was isolated. I"m unsure how or why they would assume he left his hotel room, but they are assuming he joined and dined out and therefore claim is void., I am unsure how they can prove that he dined out vs us prove that the family members ordered for him and brought back in a to go box and left it outside his hotel room door - but that's literally the truth. He had to eat, they were allowed to leave, and they brought him food back each meal.
  18. This should be easy then - CDC official policy as of 2/10 was no quarantine for those exposed if vaccinated. I will absolutely be including this in my appeal. I wonder if they deny most assuming that the majority will not take the time to appeal. Based on Yelp and Google, this seems to be a trend based on Travel Insured's mostly 1 star reviews.
  19. Thank you. They definitely did not ask for any vaccine records although we would gladly provide that. The covid positive family member isolated and the others were not required to, a CDC update since February 2021. While their website has been replaced with most recent data, they came out with the updated guidance on 2/10/2021 regarding no need to isolate if exposed and vaccinated. https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/cdc-fully-vaccinated-people-don-t-need-quarantine-if-exposed-n1257336
  20. Really appreciate the followup Babr and you summarized it spot on. These are the facts: -NCL denied all 4 of us boarding since we were the same traveling party and the two rooms were connected to the same reservation -3 covid negative family members had their trip interrupted and were stranded in Florida. Due to it being the holiday season, they were not able to rebook or reschedule their flight from Florida back to NY -3 covid negative family members were NOT required to quarantine as they were vaccinated. Per CDC guidelines since February 2021, anyone vaccinated but exposed to covid without symptoms did NOT need to isolate or quarantine. NCL was being extra precautions and denied all 4 of us. -Per Travel Insured, we booked 2 rooms while stranded in Florida - one for the covid positive family member to isolate for 5 days and one for the 3 covid negative family members. -The covid negative family members incurred meal/food expenses while stranded in Florida and when reasonably dining near the hotel, ordered food for the covid positive family member and left it outside his hotel room where he ate meals isolated alone inside. Insurance is stating that since we violated CDC quarantine guidelines, our claim is void. That's just utterly false. We were stranded and booked two rooms. All were denied boarding and the covid + family member didn't leave isolation. He like the others had to eat while stranded in Florida but the covid negative family members left meals outside of his room from restaurants they grabbed food from. Followed every CDC and insurance guideline, including all receipts, to the tee. Therefore beyond frustrated. This was the exact reason we took out extra insurance from a company we thought we could rely on. And also called them and did exactly as told.
  21. CDC guidelines at the time were that anyone exposed to covid but vaccinated did NOT have to isolate or quarantine. So the 3 family members who were denied boarding and had their trip interrupted followed CDC guidelines and worse masks but did not isolate at a hotel while stranded until they could get back to NY. The covid + family member isolated per CDC guidelines at the hotel in a separate room that Travel Insured assured would be covered.
  22. Hi All, We are beyond frustrated - beware of a disgusting, unreliable travel insurance company Travel Insured International, Inc. We were recommended this travel insurance company by Cruises-N-More My family of 4 was denied boarding from a cruise in December due to one person testing positive for covid pier side (all negative within 48 hours to having traveled). We've always taken out travel insurance and have relied on this company despite never having to file a claim. Since we traveled together from NY, the entire traveling party of 4 (all part of the same policy) was denied boarding and forced to stay in Florida. Travel Insured ensured us that all hotel expenses, including two rooms (one for the family member who had to quarantine and isolate and another for the other 3 family members) would be fully covered for the interrupted trip, in addition to meals for the 3 family members denied boarding + food for the covid + family member in his hotel room until all could get back home to NY. The 3 negative family members were unable to get a flight back to NY based on it being the holiday season, so we all stayed in Florida for 5 nights. Their own representative said that all meals/lodging would be covered for all 4 denied family members with only the covid positive family member needing to quarantine. Expenses for all denied boarding and having their trip interrupted would be covered, including the separate hotel rooms until all could safely get back to NY. Travel Insured has been impossible to get in contact with for the past 5 months. We sent them every detailed receipt for the two hotel rooms, denied boarding letter, transportation and meals. They asked for additional documentation regarding flights and cruise cost, and we promptly provided that to them. Calls to the company have taken over 5 hours for someone to answer. We just got a full denial letter from the company stating that based on receipts, it looks like quarantine guidelines were not abided by, so the entire claim was therefore denied. The covid positive family member did not leave his room for the entire 5 days, in accordance with CDC guidelines. The other family members were not required to quarantine and were covid negative but were denied by the cruise line and had their trip interrupted (trip interruption part of the policy) since we had traveled together. I cannot fathom how this company is denying this claim when we did everything needed from receipts to separate rooms to the negative family members bringing food back to the positive family member and leaving it outside of his hotel room door. We incurred thousands of dollars for unexpected food and lodging costs, spoke to Travel Insured and followed all instructions to ensure coverage and relied on this company for covering and protecting us. To be sent a denial letter when we fully abided by their guidelines and all CDC requirements is beyond frustrating, upsetting and unfathomable. If anyone has any experience with this, I'd appreciate any insight for how to appeal or resolve. If anyone has any contacts at Travel Insured International, Inc. please let me know. In the meantime, please be careful and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you want reliable coverage when traveling.
