  1. A few answers to some of the questions. I am still working on the others.

There is a corkage fee of $15 for wine brought on board.

It is day 4 and so far there has not been a 10 Drink Card special.

I have not seen anything about a Pie of the Day.

Casino Royale info was in stateroom on first day for all Crown and Anchor members. Hubby is Prime, but everyone else is Choice. They are getting to be sticklers in casino about rules. One example, if both dice do not hit the wall in Craps there is no first warning, they immediately call it a no throw. I can imagine what will happen if someone hits their point and a lot of money is on the table and that happens.

I am happy to answer any questions or try to find the answer.

When I get home I will write up a report and provide a link to all Compasses, menus, etc. I have been trying to remember to get the kids and teen compasses, but did miss day one.

Today we are at Icy Strait Point. Most of the group went halibut fishing. It is chilly with on and off light rain. We did see three whales and a sea lion as we were approaching the pier and there are a lot of eagles.

Tomorrow we are in Juneau and since there are seven of us we are doing a private Canoe paddle and Mendenhall Glacier Trek. We did this last year and loved it. It is the same company as the ship excursion, but not with a group.

  2. Hi - I don’t know if this is helpful or not, because my experience was on the transit from Honolulu to Vancouver, and not an Alaska itinerary. For our cruise, they had a special on the first day of $179 (plus 18% gratuity [emoji849]) for the length of the cruise (10 days) for 2 people. I believe the advertised price was $39 (per person) for a one day pass but I saw specials advertised during the cruise as low as $19.99. Again, that was per person, where the $179 was per couple. Hope that is helpful. The thermal suite is indeed beautiful with the big picture window and lovely tile loungers. It was rarely occupied during our cruise - I only saw one other person in there the whole time. Even though it was a cruise coming from Hawaii, we did have some chilly days at sea where it felt good to be in a warm space.

I don’t know what the pricing would be for the week, but I was just at the Radiance spa. The daily rate is $20 + 18% tip and if it were for the rest of the week (we are on day 3) it would be $69 +18% tip.

  3. Started to worry that either the internet was that bad or you were having too much fun to post. [emoji4] Looking forward to everything else you have to share!

The internet is still not great even after getting past the inside passage.

We are in Ketchikan today. The weather is cool and it started raining around 1:00. We chose not to do an excursion today, so walked around the town and had a good lunch at Bar Harbor.

First formal night was last night (day 2). My observation is that more people dress for formal night than our other cruises. Most aren’t super dressy, but there were very few in jeans, t-shirts or casual clothes. We always dress up and this was the first time the guys did not wear a tie, but did wear pants and a blazer.

Cruise director is Ken Jones for those wanting to know.

We are going to Samba Grill tonight.

  4. Hi All,

We are sailing the northbound Alaska route, leaving on May 18. We sailed the southbound last year with friends and this year we are bringing the family. It wouldn't be my first choice to sail northbound, but needed to make sure we went early so youngest son would be available for an internship in the summer. It does happen that he will turn 21 during the cruise.

I will save the Compasses and try to remember to take photos of the MDR menus. We are eating at Samba one night, but hopefully I will remember to look at the menu in our stateroom or the Concierge lounge. If you want me to check on anything I will try my best to remember.

  5. We took this cruise last summer and loved it. We had a snorkel trip booked with Snorkel Bermuda, but the weather was not cooperating and we couldn't go either day. I cannot remember his name, but the owner was very nice. He even drove us to Woody's. The fish sandwiches are very good and I recommend eating there. Everyone in Bermuda was very friendly and I would love to go back. It is true that everything is a little more expensive.

  6. In Skagway instead of the 3.5 hour bus/rail excursion you mentioned, you might want to consider Chilkoot Charters' 7.5 hour rail and bus excursion (https://chilkootcharters.com/package/yukon-rail-bus/) and forget about the hike and float this trip. We took the 7.5 hour trip with Chilkoot on our first cruise, and it was terrific. While at Caribou Crossing on that excursion, you will get to play with sled dog puppies, visit a small museum and have lunch. Your other choice seems awfully rushed.

Also, the Town of Skagway is so darned cute, and your two excursion choices will not leave you any time to see the town.

I agree with this. We loved this trip and would do it again.
