  1. My 1st cruise EVER is in Nov so I'm obsessed with this site! I read everything I can, I come on here at least once a day to see if I missed anything....It's kinda sad, I know ;)

It’s not sad, it’s smart! I have a friend who on her first cruise tipped everyone throughout her week. She was really surprised to find out that the tips were 1. Already on the bar tab, and 2. The tips for the week were on her cabin bill!:eek: You will board your first cruise ship thoroughly informed!! Have fun!!

  2. Has anyone personally experienced a "Faster Internet Experience" on any Princess ship? If so, do you have any speed test results? How reliable was it etc ? What are your thoughts on it?

If it's the same old slow-n-stupid connection capping premium data usage to 500MB per day is a joke. I doubt you could even download 500MB in a week.

Internet experience on the Majestic was excellent. No problems at all from our cabin.

  3. I am hoping someone will have an answer about CC dining that the Princess rep I just spoke to could not answer. We are in a CC minisuite on the Crown. When I made our reservation they asked what our dining choice was and I said six o'clock. We were on the Majestic in May and hated waiting for a table in the Anytime dining room. I called Princess to ask to change to CC dining and they said you have six o'clock at a table for six. I said that doesn't sound like the CC dining room and she could not tell me if it was. Can someone please explain to me how I make sure we have the CC dining, which I thought I read you could come anytime.

  4. We have booked RomeInLimo for all three of our Italy stops - and everything I have read about them has been top-notch. They have suggested that we use a private guide on our tour of the Vatican at a cost of 150 Euros. Just wondering if anyone has used the private guide provided/suggested by RomeInLimo and either glad they did or thought it was a waste of money. Perhaps others have used private guides through other tour services as well - perhaps they can comment on this question as well.

We used RomeInLimo for tours in Florence, Pisa, Rome and the Vatican. The guided tour of the Vatican was fabulous. Our guide, Francesca, was so knowledgeable! You can't put a price on this experience! Do it!

  5. Food update:

Happy to report that the breakfast selection has improved in the World Fresh Marketplace since the preview cruise. Still less options for lunch and dinner though which means we go there less.

Afternoon Tea seems to be available almost every port and sea day mmm, lovely warm scones.

No sign of a pub lunch at any time.

We have personally enjoyed the food in the main dining room but others have reported tough lamb shank or cold food on occasion.

Harmony is providing an almost full menu - the odd ingredient is still missing in a stray container somewhere. I chose some dishes like spare ribs and crispy chicken which were bland compared to other selections - be guided by the waiter's recommendations.

Some American friends went to La Mer and disliked everything except the desserts. Said it was too salty for their tastes.

The International Cafe rocks - always something good to find.

Thank you, Sandra for a very thorough response. It sounds like the Majestic will be a different experience from other Princess ships.

  6. Thank you for a very enjoyable and thorough review! We will be on the May 14th sailing. We booked this cruise back in July and at that time there was absolutely no mention of the ship being built for the Chinese market on the Princess website. Silly me, I should have googled it. Who knew. So, I have one question.... I do not eat any type of Asian food or fish. Am I going to lose weight on this cruise?? Haha!!

  7. Thank you, JB for your great details. I went back to the tour details (Majestic Princess) and this is what it says. The tour includes the cable car, Apres' Den, Europa Point, Great Siege Tunnels, and upper galleries. The description includes the following "extra" info:"This is a genuine caving experience....participants must hold on to ropes to descend a 10 foot slope....and bend over or crawl on hands and knees in some places to fit through tight spaces."

Does any of this sound familiar? By the way this information doesn't show up on another tour that does the Great Siege Tunnels.

  8. We purchased FCCs and then totally forgot about them as we took an extended break from cruising. To our surprise a check arrived in a "junk mail" type envelope and actually the check inside didn't indicate what is was and came from a third party company! Also, the check EXPIRED in 30 days!!!

The good news is that we booked our next cruise this past summer during a $100 deposit promo!!
