  1. Somebody mentioned a collision at sea.

We were out on a new casino boat, out of Galveston a couple of weeks back.

Our Captain Crunch ran our boat head on into the Galveston South jetty. He hit a fixed marker. Put a 100-foot gash down the whole side of the ship. Luckily it was above the waterline. There were some pretty panicked folks on the boat that night. Pretty good video on the internet also. I'll never forget the sound of the steel being torn open from the hull.

That night was the 105th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic😨😨😨d52bdb53b105038d8d5723fe6337420c.jpg

I'll try to post this video I shot, when we got back to the marina

  2. We were coming back to Texas this weekend. When the ship slowed down and did a turn.I know the Gulf of Mexico is not an ocean. But its big and deep.

In 10,000' of water was a boat upside down. 300 miles from land.

Everbody stopped everything and all went to starboard side to observe.

Then someone outside was actually concerned our ship was going to flip over from the weight shift.😃😃

Anyway our ship stopped for a short time to observe for any signs of life. The ship got real quiet. And the music stopped.

After about 10 minutes total. No sign of life was present. We steamed on.

There was no debris of any kind. It was interesting. But the boat was under 14'. It also didn't have any bottom paint on it. And no barnacles either.I think it was nothing based on my experience. But the looks on peoples faces.

    They were all pretty worried.

I took pictures.I will try an post.

  3. At approximately what amount spent in a machine do they start perking your drinks?

1500 points gets you free drinks. But you can't put a dollar value to it. Because it varies from machine to machine. And table to table.

Each cruise the points start over.

I saw a lady the other night, on her 3rd day. She already had almost 13000 points. Thats some spending.

I'm ready to be chastised for looking. Flame away.

I thought I was the high roller. But then I'm on a CCL.

  4. The wife and I both play penny slots but she' a max better. So she's basically betting a dollar every time. I play about .80 or $0.90 at a time. We play the machines that you can play 5 reels and play all 20 lines. She cleans up pretty good on those machines. I would happily post some pictures of some winnings. But then I would get FLAMED for taking pictures in the casino. Because we all know it's against the rules. People will cry.

We saw a lady win $2,300 the other night on pennies.

I would try to play very little or none at all on the last night of your cruise. The machines get real tight at that point.

    I like 5 and $10 blackjack.

    Good luck💰

  5. This is kind of a timely post for me. What do you get the woman that has all kinds of jewelry already ?

Well, I just dropped $500 a couple days ago on the Pandora bracelet with some pendants. My daughter and I discussed it. (She's in her early 20s) She thought it'd be a cool idea. So we got it. I'm going to give it to my wife this weekend on our cruise. My daughter picked out a little pendant that she liked for it. So hers is already on there. I picked up one from me plus a few others.

I hope I made the right decision. But after reading all these post .I guess it can go 50-50. I think I'll take my chances. Plus she'll enjoy hunting different pendants down,at the places we visit from time to.Wish me luck.😨😨

  6. I don't know about you, or anyone else, but I ONLY cruise with super models and athletes and we ALWAYS wear our finest custom coture...

On a serious note, to those who feel offended at what others wear and how they take care of themselves. Go use all of your fabulous wealth and buy your own boat to cruise in...problem solved!

That's a good one. You may know my neighbor, in my marina ,here in Galveston. He just put his boat on the market for $1,700,000.99. I can assure you, you can eat anywhere you want on this boat. Clothing optional. I'll try and post pic.

  7. We did the behind-the-scenes tour on Carnival Freedom late last year. One thing they won't run out of is Dr. Pepper and ice tea. They said the Texas Port is unique, that it's people required to have those things on board. Because they are the most consumed beverages. A little fun fact.

  8. Do your parents know you are on the computer?

Do you understand about bringing in non-native species into our country.

Did you even read the previously posted rules from the government?

    try this one.

http://www.nwf.org click on invasive species on the left side of the page.

This is a serious issue . Don't play with mother nature.

You live in Florida. Surely you have heard of the python. Non native. That is a menace to the state's.

Get someone to help you figure this out.

  9. It's a shame everyone can't do the behind-the-scenes tour. Maybe then people would have a different perspective, on what it takes to feed thousands of people all day long. Everything on the ship is made from scratch. The problem is it's made in massive quantities in huge kettles and ovens. I think they do the best they can, with what they have to work with and how they have to do it. If every single thing on the ship was cooked to order. People would complain about the food took too long to get to them.

Personally, out of all the different eating options on that ship. There has to be something that can sustain you for a few days.🍕🥞🌯🍔🍗🍎🍉🍢🍸I find most of it pretty good value for the buck. But I also cruise Carnival and shop at Walmart. 😨😨

  10. That sounds risky.I think I will book the 3 hour.Do you know anything about the private trips they advertise for? There will be 4 of us. It would be nice to have our own guide and boat. It appears too be an option. If not I can figure that out.The Freedom leaves at 5. I'd like to be on it.I may not see everything. But I will be informed for the next trip. Thanks for the detailed response . It's exactly what I was looking for.

  11. Anything new I should know about this tour? About to book the 5 hour tour the first of May on Freedom. Not booking through Carnival. We are going to take the tour for just four people.

  12. the comparison is poor, first of all it's $35 vs $20 or $40 vs $70. I don't care what some waiter said, they are not cooked the same way, maybe the same steak. According to "behind the scenes" the only open flame is in the Steakhouse. The MDR bakes their steaks in very large quantities on sheet pans. Someone mentioned they heard they go up 8 decks and the other side of the ship to get a steak, I highly doubt it

Carnival does not allow an actual flame grill,in the steakhouse . They use an electric infrared grill. Then underneath the grates and elements. There is a tub filled with water to catch all the drippings.

  13. Last I read it was still less than $10 per diem that they spent on food on their customer.

Every time the carnival Freedom pulls into the Galveston Port. Which is every 7 days or so. They spent $325,000 on food and beverages per trip. I guess you could try to do the math on that. Carnival makes every single thing on that ship from scratch. Only thing that comes pre-made is ice cream.
