  1. So related question - is the Go Best worth it? I'm looking at a 7 day Equinox trip with wife and 10 year old son. Premium drink package is good for us, I'd probably upgrade if we did Go Better, and Go Best includes a nonalcoholic drink package for my son. Go Best also gives 2 unlimited internet packages plus 40 minutes on a third device, $300 OBC and prepaid tips for 2. I look at it as essentially an all in price except for casino if we go (probably will once or twice) and excursions, and maybe some incidentals.

Are you sure your son is not already getting the 40 min internet package and free classic non-alcoholic drink package with Go Better? We did with ours in April.. our son is also 10 years old in the same cabin. Those are free gifts for 3rd person (child) in balcony cabin.

We picked the $300 OBC and 2 unlimited internet packages. We ended up not using the 40 min package as 3 people sharing 2 unlimited internet logins is really enough.

So if you are picking $300 OBC and classic alcoholic packages, then go Best will add

    1) Prepaid Tip for 2 ( you still have to pay tip for son)

    2) Two Unlimited Internet Accounts

    That's $13.50 x 14 + $249 + $124.50 (2nd account 50% off) = $562.50

Go Best is worth $562.50 over Go Better if you are going to get 2 unlimited internet accounts.

  2. Before my last trip, I thought sharing internet package was unthinkable ;p, but actually it was pretty easy. The way it was setup is that the person who wanted to use the internet can just log the other person out. You can have 2 phones, 2 computers, 2 tablets all using the same internet just not at the same time. So if your daughter needs to upload pictures to social media, she would just log you out and do her thing. But then if you have 2nd account, you could reach your daughter anytime anywhere on the ship. And 2nd account is 50% off if you buy your internet package on the ship. I think on our last cruise it was $249 (7 days) for first account, and 50% off for 2nd in the same cabin if purchase together. So it would be $374 buying onboard.

For drink package, if you don't need alcohol, the premium non-alcohol package is $22 per day per person, so 7 days would be $308 + 18% tip = $364

So if you think you are going to drink alcohol, it is probably better to take the Classic and downgrade daughter to premium non-alcohol, then buy your internet packages on board.

If you are not drinking much (just pay for each alcoholic drink), then it is better to take the internet package, and pay for the 2 premium non-alcoholic packages.

Actually if you are going to need both drink packages and 2 internet accounts, just take those 2 and forget the $300 OBC. Both perks are worth more than $300 for the 7 days.

  3. Thanks for the reply. I assume the kids your son was saying hello to were not his relatives, which is encouraging to me that he made friends in the kids club. As I said mine should be fine as long as there are a few other kids there. We would probably take him with us on port days other than maybe Key West where we might not get off the ship since we have driven there more times than we can count. But he's old enough to participate in excursions/off ship activities at GC, CM and Cozumel so I'm really looking at evenings and sea days and it sounds like he'd be OK.

Yeah they were not his cousins. On our 7 days cruise, there were only 2 sea days. We took him to all the excursions so mostly he only spent evenings at the club. They have some kind of reward program where you get points to spend. Our son got a bunch of goodies (celebrity backpack, celebrity sunglasses, etc..) he was very happy. BTW, my son loves Qusine. He just asked me yesterday.. "if we go back to cruise, can we go back to Qusine again?"

  4. I don't know how it was done but your quote should not be under my name, I never said the above things. Shows up on post #39.

This is because in post #32, you quoted Wonderman3 but accidentally deleted the end quote tag. When miched quoted your post in #34, it makes it looks like he quoted Wonderman3. So when Wonderman3 quoted miched, it looks like he quoted you. When Wonderman3 replied to your post above, it looks like he was quoting himself. It is a gift that keeps on giving. LOL :D

  5. For those who went around Easter this year - were there any kids in the 9-10-11 year-old range,at least that you noticed? Spring Break for most South Fla. school kids is the week before Easter and we are looking at various cruises that week in March 2018, including Equinox and Silhouette. My son will be 10 and would be fine as long as there are some kids his age range, and by some I mean five or six.

My son was 10 (1 week from 11) on Silhouette this year in April and there were lots of "Ensigns" the 9 to 11 group onboard. I don't know how many since I was never at the club..he checked himself in, but he kept saying "hi" to the other kids on board. To be fair, just our family have 8 kids under 15 on board and 3 of them between 9-11.

  6. I suppose you know how to program it with all the doctor prescribed settings. Many people also have bi-paps, which are much more expensive. But they use the word CPAP universally.

I suggest caution when buying complicated required medical equipment without going through your doctor.

Most places will need to contact your doctor to get the prescription before selling you the machine and they usually pre-program it to your pressure setting before shipping it.

  7. I had classic last year, and it did indeed include bottled water, just not the more expensive type like perrier and such. It was good b/c it included the ones they are trying to sell before you leave for an excursion so its handy!

I was wondering if brand X meant, Celebrity brand? Maybe they have their own labels now who knows? But you'll have a couple brands to choose from so no worries :-) Enjoy!

I don't think you get to choose when you are classic. On our last Caribbean cruise, it was Mountain View or Mountain Spring water. Don't remember the exact name but it is some kind of off brand water you could get from the local CVS.

I guess the cheap bottle of water is which ever brand they could get at the Port for a cheap price.

  8. We have the Chase Sapphire card and had to cancel three cruises (one last year) and two this year because of a medical condition I developed.

Chase reimbursed the cost of the cruises with no problems (we were in suites). I believe there is a $20,000 limit.

We have been so pleased with the benefits of the card.

One of my coworker had to cancel her honeymoon trip because of a death in the family. Chase Sapphire refunded her everything include her future husband's portion because she put it on her card. Although she has to say he is her "domestic partner" because he was not her spouse yet. But they didn't ask any question.

  9. I could access today without any problem. I could manage my reservation and book excursions if I wish, no problems.

You need to go to the correct website.

New or Old website? Some people get the new one some still get the old one. I get the old site from work using firefox and new site from home using chrome.

  10. I believe gg88 is in Canada and it could be that because of the IP address from their ISP the website is automatically redirecting to the UK website. it may not be as asimple as clearing their cookies. It all will depend on whom the telcom provider is and how the IP addresses are routed/recognized to/by the Celebrity website

I am in California, and the new website shows just last week for me. It was redirecting to the UK site also for me. But I know what to do, so I deleted the cookies and it went back to .com. There is definitely some bugs in the filters.

  11. I think you can, but my $375 OBC was gone so fast that I didn't check the account on the last cruise. :p On Celebrity, the prepaid gratuity is charged every day on the account. I think ours was something like $32 a day?

The internet and beverage packages are both worth more than $300 if you have at least a 7 days cruise. Internet would be like $250 + $125 (50% off 2nd device in same cabin) = $375. And classic beverage would be like $700+ for 2.

  12. On our last cruise, some of our family booked Concierge and some (like me) booked Balcony. The Concierge price was just slightly higher, but I read the difference here and seems like it was not worth the $100 or so difference. Now we are back, I wish I have booked Concierge. I noticed all the people in Concierge gets better/faster services at the MDR. I think their table has the more experienced waiter. They have an extra nicerTote bag on top of the regular tote that looks more like a reusable grocery bag. They also get their own waiting area instead of the Theatre for debarkation. Oh and their seapass looks cooler in gold color. :p

  13. No. My friends, sailing in concierge aboard Eclipse needed to plug in a C-Pap machine. Steward got an extension cord for her and ran the cord across the room and taped it down to avoid tripping hazards. Steward said they do this all the time.

Yup ours did it for me. I wanted it on the side of the bed closer to the door, so he ran the extra long cord under the bed to the other side!

The only electric outlets I found in the room are the 2 next to the desk. There is another next to them with the special round shape for the in room hair dryer. I think I saw an outlet on the ceiling of the bathroom, but I don't think that one was for passenger...

  14. The hotels near Long Beach (by Queen Mary) are generally nicer than the ones near San Pedro (Port of Los Angeles) unless you are staying at Terranea Resort (10 miles west of San Pedro) . BTW, the Westin at Long Beach is where the Long Beach Global Entry interview office located.

  15. Will this still be the case now the new changes have been made to the Classic package? Only time will tell.

I am wondering about that too. What good it is to include fountain soda when there is no fountain soda onboard? Even at the MDR they give you cans to pull into glass yourself.

  16. While the RFID cards aren't particularly expensive, good quality locksets are not cheap. A cost-benefit analysis of replacing every lock on every door on a ship would no doubt raise serious questions. It makes sense to instal RFID locksets on new builds, but I'm not convinced that there's a need or particular benefit for existing ships.

Celebrity Constellation is getting RFID cards in May this year! I think they are going to redo all the ships one by one.

  17. We have dined in Qsine a couple of times and love it and did the Baltic last year but despite the ship having children on board there were none in the restaurant. We were in there for nearly 3 hours so would not recommend it with a child under 10 years. I think it is adult only

Kids are allowed but I think it would be pretty boring for a 3 years old. We had 4 kids from 9 to 14 with us and they all loved the food at Qsine. But they were gone in about 1.5 hour because they just want to eat and go play else where. I think the adults stayed for about 3 hours.
