Reading the topic of this thread "pushing Kids Sail Free. Too Bad" I thought it would have a different content than discussing the pro and cons of cruises with/without children/adult only ...

Actually I like a balanced mixture of well behaved travellers of all ages, children, young adults to very mature guests,

but what I do regard as totally wrong is the "Kids Sail FREE" part. Basically, given Celebrity's overall pricing, this means that a single traveller has to pay the same price as a family of four. Certainly I do not eat for four, use four loungers at the pool, take four seats in the theatre ...

Great, if Celebrity makes families welcome on board, but let them just pay for.

    Absolutely agree here...

  2. I love that they are offering this promo!  Although the cruise fares went up so the kids can sail "free"......I think it's a great way for grandparents who want to take their grandkids on a cruise as well.....

Since the "free" isn't "free" here....the majority of families still won't bring their kids on Celebrity because it doesn't have all the crazy additions that Royal or Carnival has.... water slides, Rock climbing, ice rinks, etc etc....

So it's safe to say I'm sure these kids sail "free" itineraries won't be inundated with children !!

First off, we're not really interested in the Edge class ships. They charge way too much for what they offer. In 2017 after a real decline in food quality, we left Celebrity & switched for 2 cruises on Oceania. Being in the food industry, top quality food is real paramount to us. Here Oceania certainly did not disappoint. We do a 14 day trip each winter & next winter the choices on Riviera did not meet our needs. So we've booked on Silhouette for next Jan. 25 for 14 days. I'm really surprised at the steep price. This is higher than what we paid on Oceania. I just hope the food quality warrants the high price. I tend to think that the prices are inflated by online TA's who book way too many cabins. We booked an inside for $1799 & it's now close to $2300. We will be wiling to upgrade, but not for the $4000+ that they are asking. This cruise will likely determine whether we continue to travel on Celebrity or whether we go back to Oceania or perhaps the Yacht Club on the MSC Seaside.

MSC Seaside.....we sailed on her in November of 2018..... couldn't pass up the price. We were loyal to Celebrity so we were nervous.....

The ship is gorgeous and we had a huge aft balcony BUT.......NEVER AGAIN !   The food was horrible to terrible at best......service level is non-existent, and there's SMOKING EVERYWHERE.....can't escape it!    It's filthy also.......plates, cups toppled everywhere, straws and pineapple wedges all over pool deck....so gross...

Entertainment was ok.....same nightly.  20 minute wait at pool bar for drinks.....no pool servers.....and 90% of the passengers and employees don't speak English....huge language barriers everywhere!!

It's such a shame because the ship is stunning!!!  Needless to say... we're booked on Celebrity Equinox in September 😎🍸

Our last 10 cruises have been with Celebrity we usually book on board for the following year. This year we were on a Feb cruise and went to book another Feb cruise for the following year and were quoted over $3,000 more for the exact same cruise. Same balcony same itinerary etc. As a result we didn't book anything and will not book anything at these inflated prices. We will be looking elsewhere. Too bad for Celebrity we really did enjoy cruising with them but we don't appreciate being gouged.

    I don't blame you!!! That's ridiculous

The basketball court is regularly used by the kid's club.  The counselors took my daughter's group out there everyday to play games like tag and gaga ball.  It's a great space where the kids can be a little rowdy without interfering with other passengers.

    Totally agree SerraG.....

Our kids loved this space so much!  For basketball and soccer.  Not every aspect of a Celebrity ship needs to be geared towards adults 😁

Thats great!   I really hope the Edge has some daily family  activities and an engaging kids club with fantastic staff

We couldn't get them out of the kids club!! They loved the unique activities and small groups!! Lots of attention!!!!  The staff treated our children like gold....they were so sweet, kind and creative!!!   We took an MSC Cruise a year after the Celebrity one and our kids preferred the Celebrity kids club BY FAR to the MSC one.  Awesome memories for them!!  Enjoy!

  7. We have always upgraded to Premium prior to cruising....it takes the hassle out of doing it after we board.....I don't want to wait in long lines etc....once we board we go straight to the bar for a beverage and don't have to worry about it 😉

We prefer premium because of the vodkas, craft beer and bottled waters, Pellegrino, smoothies etc....

  8. Please don't refer me to the Bonaire board as there isn't any current info on this.

How is Klein Bonaire beach?? Thinking about doing an excursion there but want to make sure it's worth it.....I know there aren't any facilities there but it is gorgeous?  Nice sand? Not interested in snorkeling but would hang on the beach etc.....YAY OR NAY ?

I got a  Captains Club Newsletter e-mail mentioning Flights by Celebrity will be starting a new program where you can book flights now and pay later.  Will probably be more costly.

We booked our flights via the new buy now pay later program....they were a lot less expensive than Expedia and they are refundable non stop fares!  From Chicago to Fort Lauderdale!
