  1. As others have said you won't be able to really tell the difference. We've sailed both twice. I'd go with price and itinerary. I will say that an officer told me that they made over 2000 changes in Allure based on Oasis, but that they were effectively undetectable by passengers.

The biggest difference is the production show, and Rita's Cantina on Allure and the Seafood Shack on Oasis. As mentioned Allure has the Dog House which is great, but none of those things are worth a preference of the cruise.

Take the ship that fits your price, schedule, and itinerary best. Since Oasis is older it tends to be a bit cheaper. But you can't go wrong with either.

    Very good advice.

One thing you need to decide is if you want to sail Eastern or Western Caribbean. Then, fit that into your available date.

  2. We didn't add another person but upgraded our cabin right after completing all of our on-line info.

We could not print our E-docs and I kept thinking I must have not entered some sort of information.

I called NCL and they transferred me for technical assistance which was needed in order "nudge" our information forward.

    Give NCL a call.

  3. When I sailed on Oasis I wanted one of these, but I don't consider Bud products to be beer. I had read that you could buy them empty at some bars. I tried on the first two days and was told they were sold out.

Walking along the promenade on the last sea day there was a table set up outside the pub that had some glassware, the coke cups and a couple of the bags. I reached through the crowd to grab one and bought it empty. I don't remember the price but I want to say is was around $10 for just the bag.

Now that I know I can bring it back and use it on future sailings, I will have to try that. Is that a fleet wide thing?

You can certainly bring it back and use it. There will not likely be any discount offered. We bought ours a few years ago (I think on Explorer) and were told at time of purchase that we could always refill it at a discounted price. That did not work on Oasis or Freedom.

It was convenient to have it and take beers back to our cabin but no discount.

  4. Hi all,

We will be on Rhapsody of the Seas in September and have an overnight in Lahaina, Maui.

This will be our 3rd visit and we are exploring the options of visiting either Molokai or Lanai for the day. I understand the ferries are available.

    Who has done either?

    Any advice?

    Thanks!

  5. Thank you everyone for getting back with me. Yes, I have the PAID invoice email from my TA, showing what we will be having, on what deck/room/category were in. I'm just used (I've always booked through a TA with all the cruises I have gone on) to having that cruise line contact me by email to fill out the passport, medical, credit card, etc. info.

You will still need to fill in your passport, emergency contact, etc. and print your set sail pass.

Royal Caribbean will not contact you first.

Log in to "my cruises" and if you have not done this before you will need to set up a profile and then enter your reservation number.

Then, follow the steps to enter all information.

    Happy cruise!

  6. 20 years ago, we got our marriage certificate the day of the wedding.

But, to expand and enlighten the couple:

Yes, you can show that you are legally married by showing your marriage certificate. However, the cruise will need to be booked in Mr.'s name and "Missies" name. Each of you will still have your own passports/ID in your given names.

The female will still legally be Miss Jane Doe until she is able to change her name through the social security office and obtain all new ID.

Then, there is still the passport that needs to be changed!

All of these changes would take place after the honeymoon. (Assuming that the honeymoon is right after the wedding.)

  7. We booked a balcony GTY and got 9216. We were quite pleased.

Yes, if you stood at the rail and looked down you saw a life boat. However,if you sat in your chair and looked out you saw the ocean. If you looked up, you saw the sky.

We enjoyed one of the greatest sunsets we have ever seen when we sailed away from St. Thomas.

We were kind of between forward and mid-ship.

  8. Thanks for the input - I'm wondering if April would be too busy for us if its spring break - our daughter has asperges and doesn't handle waiting in long lines etc. ( ie: Disneyland)

How do I find more info on the hidden balconies?

We were thinking a D1 cabin but from what I've read it's not worth the extra money to other D categories?

We don't need a big balcony but prefer the bigger room compared to an E1 when on other ships.

    Lownslow,

In the US the big spring break times are March-April. March is biggest for the Universities.

If you are flexible with your travel dates then perhaps early May would be better for your daughter. I think there will still be plenty of kids as people do take them out of school, but maybe not such large crowds.

Also, November might work out better than December for the same reasons.

  9. I would like to say something to NCL. I knew when I booked the cruise what the rules were. I understood, that after final payment NCL does not do anything for you.

But my March Breakaway cruise rate went down $1,000 after final payment. And NCL did very little for me. $450 OBC. That it, and that was like pulling teeth. "They went out of there way to do that. "

It just hurts when anyone, can book that cruise today at the lower rate.

I also know this is a patten on the Breakaway. Every cruise after the summer they did this. Even CHRISTMAS Week. Lowered the rate like $700 after final.

This is not the way to treat loyal customers. We are Platinum, guest that does not matter.

Just be wear.. And book after final payment, and you will be treated like platinum

Sorry jakeT but I don't feel for you. Apparently, you received a very generous OBC. Were you not comfortable with the price that you originally booked? If not, then why did you reserve at that time?

I work full time and husband is self employed. I need to plan vacation time in advance and would not book something that I was not comfortable with from the get go. Once, and only once, I noticed a price drop and received a cabin upgrade (*interior on an upper deck to ocean view on a lower deck.) Only because I just happened to see it, not because I counted on it.

One day, I may be able to travel on short notice and take advantage of last minute deals. In the mean time, I am happy to still travel.
