Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We want to do a transAtlantic eastbound in spring 2025 and westbound in fall 2025. Sounds like these won't be available until at least late this summer, no?
  2. I had cabin 14642, which is on starboard mid-ship, on the Inaugural. I was a bit worried about overhead noise and the overhang just above. Neither was a problem. I don't remember any disturbing noise above. The overhang was good for me, because I like some mid-day shade, but if you want full sun all day, you might want to check where you are. The only downside was not seeing the full overhead sky at night, but that was very minor. I also get a little seasick, but again there was no problem. I liked walking up 1 floor to the Windjammer. I'd take a 14th deck cabin again without hesitation.
  3. The second Icon class ship, Star of the Seas, is due out summer 2025. She might arrive later than your timeframe (June), but if people want the new ship, Icon's rates might fall a little. I'd book now, watch prices, and jump if rates fall.
  4. My thoughts went to the people who are responsible for Icon's successful introduction. They must be under tremendous stress about now. I worried when I wrote a memo. This is HUGE!!!!!!!
  5. I'm happy to hear your positive review, because I'm taking Brightline roundtrip Boca-Miami for a cruise the end of Jan.
  6. I'm pretty sure there are taxis, but I don't know the rates. You'd have to search on Internet. I'm doing Brightline in January, and I bought the more expensive tickets, which include an Uber connection between station and port. Not sure if you're interested in that. Just doing your own Uber, might be better, but you'd have to check the numbers. Also, I understand there's a trolley that stops at the Port, but it doesn't go directly to the Brightline station. I had checked into it and decided it was too round-about. My guess is that Uber might be the best choice, but others might know more.
  7. I'm sure they appreciated your polite response. They were just asking for help.
  8. I'm a 75-year old woman with no children, and even I heard of Messi. Honestly, he's the most admired, most honored athlete in the world.
  9. My experience is negative too. I don't know why Royal doesn't add some bean options, Thai food, more Indian recipes...the choices are wide. Their food selections are not. Princess could teach them a thing or two. I've been very disappointed.
  10. I asked my husband if he wanted to book Star (we have a 1st-day cabin on Icon), and he said, for that much money, he'd prefer a trans-Atlantic, including the airfare and a week in Barcelona. Sounds good to me.😁
  11. This also includes parking for a week and roundtrip for 2 people. And we booked the higher-priced ticket so we'd get the Rail Station-to-Port shuttle. I'll write a review afterward. We're always ready to try something new just to find out.
  12. We've used Park n Go over 10 times for both cruises and the airport. It's great. We don't consider anything else.
  13. I would have preferred to drive, but I was nervous about any long backup (Icon inaugural + a Sat. departure?) and possibly a filled lot. I guess I'm not much of a risk-taker. Also checked Google maps, which had the shortest route at 1 1/4 hrs.
  14. We live in Parkland, which is in the NW corner of Broward County, and we're taking the Icon Inaugural out of Miami on Jan. 27, 2024. I thought about parking at the Port, but thought a lot about the drive (at least 1 1/2 hrs), the traffic, and the cost ($210). We decided to take the Train. We're going to drive over to the Boca station, park the car for the week, take the train down, and shuttle over to the port. More legs than I usually like, but we both love trains and an adventure. Total cost was $228 roundtrip (we chose Premium, the higher-cost option with shuttle/drinks/snacks/lounge), which is about what parking, tolls, and gas would cost. Should be about the same length of time as driving to the station. Fingers crossed it works out. We're always ready to try something new. I'll submit a review afterward, but it won't be until Feb.
  15. I priced out Uber for the day of my cruise and saw a big difference based on the day and time. Be sure to put in the day of your cruise.
