  1. Drop off your luggage and go eat some pancakes. Walk around with the kids and see some if the sights. If you keep busy, the jet lag will not be as bad.

Pancakes are called Pofages - it's a sight to watch them being made

  2. My daughter and I are looking forward to this cruise on June 18th of this year. Our passports are current and good for another few years, but I have a question about passports that might seem silly—do we take them ashore with us in Mexico, or do we leave them in our stateroom safe? I assume we take the passports with us, but could someone confirm that? Thanks in advance.

    Ben

It is recommended that you have photocopies of your passports to carry with you and leave the originals in your safe.

If you are going to San Juan, you will need your actual passports to get on the pier when you return to the ship.

  3. It became clear to me early on in my cruising history that some of my fellow passengers have incomes with one or two more zeroes than mine.

I agree - read a story in my paper this morning - a couple as taken 200 cruises in 15 years - averaging 13 a year - and they have 30 more booked - all on Carnival - and they are not young!

  4. Several years ago, we sailed on RCI from San Juan to the southern Caribbean . There were 2 gentlemen who had done a t/a and were aboard for 6 months. They shared an inside cabin. They dressed in white suits and red shoes. They always arrived at the dining room 15 minutes late and insisted on being escorted to their table by the same crew member. The crew described them as "flamboyant"!

  5. Just GOOGLE Key West catamaran tours. Lots of them.

I tried to book a private catamaran sunset in Aruba - not available the date I need - I suspect Celebrity has that one locked up.

  6. Tommy,

How many weeks before departure did you book your cruise in AQU for 11 nights at $949.00 per person? Was this a Caribbean cruise? They are usually less expensive. Which ship? Did you have any perks for that price?

He said Equinox Sept 2017 - I don't know how far in advance, but the $949 is now $1949 - a $1000 savings per person

  7. Which stores would these be? In looking thru the financial statement that comes with the stock holder info, I can not find any retail stores listed as being owned by RCCL, nor a line item for misc kick backs for directing pax to a store.

It would be interesting to see just how much income this generates and how it is accounted for on the P & L.

THe next time you are in one of the "recommended " stores, you will hear the sales rep what ship you are on and they will hit a certain key on the register, designating that ship.

Also, when I was in Juneau, as I walked up the street I saw signs in shop windows stating "we do not kick back to the cruise lines"

  8. Don't quit your day job. In addition to the other reasons cited, a private company does not have to advertise for its competitors. Also, restraint of trade in the US is most typically related to non-compete clauses that an employer tries to force on an employee.

Don't have a"day job" - retired when i was 44 been enjoying life in sunny Florida

    - another definition of restraint of trade - . Illegal contract that in any way colludes to damage another's opportunity or ability to carry out a business.

Keep your liberal job in D.C.

  9. Are there windows in the main dining room on S class ships? Cruising to Alaska this summer and would like to see as much scenery as possible.

    Thanks.

if you would take a few minutes to review the Celebrity site for you ship and go to the onboard experience, MOST of your questions would be answered. Also, reading various threads on CC you will find questions asked about dining room seating.

  10. Wow, rude and dumb comment. Not worried in the least, just the smart thing to do. By not needlessly prepaying for things (and instead keeping money in the bank until bills are due) it adds up to thousands of extra dollars over an extended period of time. Why would I give a large corporation an interest free loan? Same reason I generally owe Uncle Sam some $$$ each April; I don't give the government an interest free loan either with my taxes either.

Gonzo - tell me where you bank where you get thousands of extra dollars - I will move my money in an instant!

  11. Aml3679 and I have a power strip that has 4 USB ports for charging our various devices and 4 regular plugs. We came on board with it without any issues and have been using it since day 1. They certainly are allowed.

Just because you have one, does not mean they are allowed. There are multiple threads on here where members have reported their strip has been confiscated. I also saw a photo posted of a table filled with power strips for passengers to pick up as they leave the ship.

  12. I recommend carrying it off the ship and putting into checked luggage at airport. Less chance of bottles getting crushed in luggage as happened to me years ago. Be sure to wrap them well as mentioned in previous posts.

Great idea. We had friends who packed in their luggage, and when the got on the dock, they went to retrieve their luggage, only to find someone had taken their suitcase in error. RCI was able to locate the passenger, but had to wait to get the luggage back. All their liquor was in the suitcase and RCI would not deliver it to their home because of the liquor.
