Gone are the days of standing in the Florida heat, with our life jackets, sweating our butts off. Although I've seen some interesting things at muster drills. Saw a wife and husband get into a physical altercation which ended when hubby cold cocked his wife. Saw numerous people pass out and hit the floor. Ahhhh, the memories.

RCCL did it on deck in Tampa this past April - what a pain.

There was just a long thread on this very question last week I think.

Yes you can add a second person as long as the original booked person stays the same.

There is a possibility that closer to sailing the cruise could be at capacity for the vessel and/or the fire zones onboard. In that case you would not be able to add anyone.

As far as price not sure how they figure that one out. I doubt that you can just add an name/passenger and not have any of the figures change.

It could be at full capacity MINUS 1 because this person is alone in the cabin, therefore under capacity.  Plus to be at capacity, all cabins would have to be full - IE: 4 in cabin that can accommodate 4.

DW & I never eat in the MDR.  Too stuffy for us with a number of pretentious fellow diners and I don't care to wait 30 to 45 minutes to be seated.  I like to see more comments that folks won't go to the buffet.  It makes for fewer people in line ahead of me.:classic_biggrin:

Pretentious diners ? I read of one lady, after hearing all the big shot claims, calmly replied she was in oil.  Never asked anymore - she owned a fish and chips shop in London!

I tell people I am retired from one of those 3 letter agencies and I cannot reveal which one!

We are on the Star in November to HI and received this notice yesterday.  We will now be boarding between 2:00 and 5:00.  Thankfully we have a 1:30 flight out of LAX and should have plenty of time to make the gate.

We are on the Star in December, but have not received the notice yet.  Since we are staying at a hotel near the port, we will be affected regarding the gap between hotel check out and boarding.  Hopefully the hotel will hold our luggage, which will give us extra time for lunch and shopping for wine.

I will always use an agent. Multiple benefits.

I agree - booked with a TA - can't name the company - I have direct contact with her - We were booked on a Celebrity cruise - I switched my booking - she said if I pay with a Master Card I get $300 OBC - great - our friends did not switch.  After final payment there was a price drop.  She got up upgraded to Concierge Class - our friends called Celebrity - they are Diamond / Elite - Celebrity said they needed to pay an additional $120 P/P to upgrade.  Told what we had done and Celebrity looked at our booking and claimed we paid $300 more -in effect we did - but that was for the obc that master card paid for.

I would never have thought to ask this question until a recent 12 day TA on another line. Our sheets/cases were never changed. I know that it's not like a hotel but at least once a week? First time on Princess to the Mexican Riviera and would appreciate your input.

What cruise line ?  Must to avoid!

Can you elaborate? Aren't the shows included with all cruises? Is it pre-assigned seating only like on land? If I can't get the shows on NCL, I won't bother looking at them

My wife was on Epic - the Blues Brothers show as well as Cirq de soleil were an additional charge.,

Yes.  It is just a certain quantity of minutes.  You could blow them all in one day or spread them out over the entire cruise.  You did not mention ship and date, but you might want to also look into whether there are unlimited packages available.  These are sold for length of cruise, or by the day (which costs more).  If both are available on your cruise it comes down to a cost comparison and thinking about how much you will access the internet for email, browsing, social apps, etc.

It's on a 15 Day Star to Hawaii (slow internet).. Mostly will be using it for Email, and a little browsing.

We were unfortunate enough to spend 7 nights on the prison ship Epic Mistake. The only time in over 40 cruises that we wanted to jump ship halfway through the cruise. People who designed the Wave cabins should be forced to cruise in them for 30 days.  Also no promenade, indifferent servers in the MDR, smoky casino right in the middle of the ship that spread smoke into the MDR.

Other than that, it was a great cruise.🤪🤪🤪

You considered jumping ship in the middle of the cruise?  My wife and 3 friends were booked in a "family balcony".  3 of the women wanted to jump ship before sailing.

  10. I am totally confused.  Everyone seems to be quoting price per day - this is what I am finding

If you purchase minutes, can they be used over an entire cruise?  On RCCL you have to use your minutes over a 24 hour period, or you lose them.

I assume EZ air is through Princess ? I have always stayed away from cruise line airfares because I found them more expensive and restrictive. Only sailed Princess twice so far, but may have to look into this if you can pick pwn flights and rebook for lower fares...sounds too good to be true...😎😎

It's a win / win - flexible and do not have to pay up front.

Am I understanding you correctly?  The Star is being sold in two years?  Why, and to whom?  We have fond memories of our first cruise in 2012, and it was on the Star to Alaska.  At that time, we were allowed to use Skywalkers, even tho we only had a mini-suite, and were newbies.  Loved it.  Are booked on Christmas cruise on Crown, and “think” we’re “Ocean Ready”.  We are two old fossils, who are technologically challenged.  I went through all the motions, and ordered my medallions, so they say I’m all set, but I still feel insecure about it.  Could it be because our name is Murphy? LOL

Never had a problem picking up or dropping off towels. Never waited in anything that rated being called a 'line'. Very quick and convenient, and if I want extra towels, or to swap out damp towels several times during the day its a breeze. Can't do that if you get them in your cabin.

On a recent Brilliance cruise from Tampa, I had 5 people ahead of me - I call that a line!

Towels are available at the pool station on the pool deck.

They scan your SeaPass card for the towels.  If you do not return them, they charge you $25 per towel.

Only bath towels in the room.

Pool towels are blue.  Bath towels are white.

This procedure - waiting in line to turn towels in is another reason we have stopped cruising on RCCL.  What do they think?  People are going to steal them?  Just an added inconvenience.

Rain in the Caribbean can be warm and actually pleasant to be exposed to.  We've been caught in showers while onshore and while many were donning their plastic ponchos or huddling in meager shelter, we enjoyed the refreshing feeling walking in the rain.

As for the umbrella, you would more likely need it for shade from the sun than for rain.

Umbrellas can certainly be useful if your cruise is in Northern Europe,

Keep in mind that when not in port the speed of the ship would also render umbrellas on a fairly open deck both useless and a possible safety hazard.

I thought I had responded to this, but I must have messed up.

The following statement is not necessarily true "Keep in mind that when not in port the speed of the ship would also render umbrellas on a fairly open deck both useless and a possible safety hazard..

The ship may or may not cause high winds.  If the ship is heading east at 15 knots, and the wind is from the west, there is no wind.  If the ship is heading west in this situation, it would in fact create a 30 knot wind.  That is why aircraft carriers turn into the wind when launching planes.
