For retreat, you can board when you want.  Depending on the port, there may be a nice lounge area with some coffee, juices and pastries.

Disembark - you can gather in the retreat lounge and be escorted of the ship, past the security lines.  Again, at a convenient time for you.  They will still collect your flight details like usual.

Well, you can arrive at the port when you want. You can board as soon as the ship is ready.

I'm not sure what you mean by "security lines" upon debarkation. There are no security lines, just immigration lines. You don't get to bypass those.

Wow, aren’t we the respectful cruiser…

And, for the record, it was a representative from Celebrity, who re-emphasized to me on the phone today, three different times, that anything brought on board had to be PHYSICALLY carried on by the cruise passenger and not put into any type of backpack or carry-on luggage.

     Be well.

If you hang around here long enough, you'll learn that the phone reps aren't 100% reliable. 😉

Is there a limit on how long you can park at Port Everglades? I am going on a trans atlantic cruise and want to park at the port for about 37 days.

At $20/day ($740!), it'd be cheaper to rent a car twice. But you can call and ask: For parking questions or emergencies, contact SP Plus Parking at 954-468-3680.

You're well past spring break at that point. A lot of schools and universities are nearing the end of the school year within a few weeks by then.

Or days. I'll be turning in my spring grades on April 25. Yippee!

Parking at POM is covered, convenient and safe.  Parking anywhere else will likely not be covered, will not be as convenient, and for sure will not be as safe.

You keep saying this, but the two surface lots at PortMiami are not covered.

  6. I took it from MCO to Ft. Lauderdale last December. I'd highly recommend it, and premium isn't necessary. Seats were comfortable, ride was smooth, and grabbing an Uber to the port was easy. After my cruise, I just took a cab to the station (~$16 + tip) because Uber was running over $30.

You can carry on bags up to 28", so no need to check. They ripped a zipper pull off my bag that I checked on the way to Ft. Lauderdale. I'll just keep luggage with me in the future. (Yes, I know airlines do that too, but it was still a bummer.)

I wonder what is happening in Eden late at night to cause a noise? Didn't think that's where the nightclub is located.

We were deck 7 SV on Apex, and there was a late-night DJ in Eden. The bass was incredibly annoying for hours (10 p.m.-1 a.m.). Fortunately, Guest Relations moved us to a higher deck (9 or 10, can't remember).

Does anyone have an experience with losing the ticket for the Port Everglades terminal parking? I just set sail aboard the Symphony of the Seas and I can’t seem to locate or remember what I did with the ticket. Parking is $20 per day… I assume there will be some sort of fine when I return on top of the daily parking rate. It’s not like me to be this careless but was kind of excited to be getting on the ship. I hope I didn’t drop it somewhere back at the port.

From the Port's website: For parking questions or emergencies, contact SP Plus Parking at 954-468-3680.

Question on luggage, the Port Everglades website suggests to 'drop off luggage and passagners' then proceed to parking.' Does this mean the dropped off passenger STAYS with with luggage until the parker comes back and we check in together with our luggage? OR do we drop luggage  with the Cruise at the curb and they scoot our luggage away?

    thanks, Eileen & Brad

You can drop luggage or passengers or both. The porters will take the luggage right away if you want them to. Check-in will be inside the terminal and is a separate process.

Why, exactly, is that the case and how would the published distribution of gratuties figure into whether a person should choose to remove them?

Many times, people remove the auto gratuities and then (say they will) tip the people who helped make a great cruise. The breakdown shows it's impossible to do that because many workers are behind the scenes and a passenger would never be able to find them to tip them.

But as someone notes above, do what you want. It's none of anyone's business.

Brightline, a train service, runs from MCO to Fort Lauderdale and Miami. If you purchase their premiere service, it includes transfers to the ports.

It was cheaper for me to book Brightline steerage and just get my own Uber. YMMV. (And yes, there's a premium departure lounge, but also not worth the upcharge unless one plans on waiting for several trains to go by first.)

Do you live in the downtown Miami area so you are speaking from experience?

No one is heading to the port but the roads will be packed with commuters going into downtown Miami and Brickell.  Having lived on Brickell for 8 years, it's certainly something that I saw all the time.

I said 20-30 minutes. You said 20-30 minutes. How is my answer wrong and yours isn't?

Anyway, I'm out. OP, have a great cruise.

  13. You will dock in Old San Juan.

Don't know what "most people" on your cruise will do. We usually book a specialty restaurant in SJ because we've been there and don't get off. Others will get off and eat ashore. Everything should be a little less busy, but hard to say specifically.
