  1. We were on the same cruise and the Renaissance is our go to hotel for ft. Lauderdale. The ship is beautiful and glad we experienced it but not worth the extra money. We actually booked an inside as the balcony cabins were extremely expensive. Would choose the allure every time against the Harmony

We are cruising on the Harmony in September. We were on the Allure 2 years ago. Luckily the price of Harmony for our ocean balcony this year is about the same we paid for the same cabin category on Allure.

Would you choose Harmony over Allure next time if the prices were the same?

  2. That's the biggest discount I've seen pre-cruise, but onboard Diamond Plus get 30% off and Pinnacle get 40% off.

Any discount for Diamond members? If so, would the discount apply for packages that might be offered on let's say Day 5 of the cruise? What about the 10 for $pkg. if it is offered?

  3. We don't have children so our point of view may not apply to your family.

We love to leave our curtains open throughout the day and sometimes at night; consequently neither neighborhoods work for us because there is no privacy as you can see directly across to the other side of the ship and must have drapes closed for privacy. Oceanview balcony will always be our choice.

  4. Thank you for your willingness to answer the questions listed in your post. Many of us have been wanting to know answers to those questions as well. I was looking at one of the longer Navigator cruises as well and ended up not booking that ship because I was afraid after all the negative posts that I would be disappointed. Because you are already aware of what some previous cruisers consider negatives, it will be nice to hear from you when you return as to your perspective. Looking forward to your post upon return.

  5. Like many of the previous posters, my husband and I have stayed at many of the Sandals Resorts and have also cruised extensively. We just recently booked Harmony for a sailing in September. Before booking the cruise, I spent several hours pricing several different Sandals properties and room locations. Although I really wanted to go back to Sandals Royal Bahamian where we were "re-married on our 25th wedding anniversary", the prices to me have become almost prohibitive for us to ever plan on going back.Even with the air credit, first night free, etc. promotions, the nightly rates that they price these discounts from are outrageous. I would go to their website and do a sample booking and see how the prices compare with a cruise of the same length. That may help you decide. The Sandals properties we have stayed at in Jamaica, St. Lucia, Antigua and the Bahamas really have very quiet evenings. There are no entertainers or shows even remotely equivalent to those you will find on cruise ships. I wish you well on whatever decision you make.

  6. Just a quick note... the sky bar is the smoking area.... I know on our cruise many people had complaints about the smoke in that area during the meet and greet.... it was always the most crowded bar too...

Do you know if there is a smoking area on Deck 5 starboard? If so, would it affect sitting on the balcony of the hump cabins on Deck 6?

  7. My husband and I just returned from our 5-night sailing on the Constellation yesterday. This was our first sailing on an M class ship having previously sailed on the Solstice and the Eclipse.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Our experience in the main dining room was quite good. We had an excellent server, Armony from Costa Rica. All of the food consumed by ourselves and tablemates was cooked to order. With the exception of the "Top Chef" menu, everyone at our table of 6 was able to find something of interest each night. The maitre'd (along with the executive pastry chef one night) stopped to speak with our our table each night. The wine sommelier also came by our table each night to take our orders. I especially liked the escargot and cheesecake with different sauces available on the every night menu.

For the most part the entertainment each night was quite good. The Celebrity singers and dancers were talented. There were 2 production spectaculars, iHollywood (we walked out of that one-couldn't quite figure it out!) and Celebrate the World. Celebrate had a new cast that had just come onboard the week we sailed and did a great job for their first time on the ship. The individual entertainers ranged from OK (Comedian-Rich Aronovich) to spectacular (Singer-Jayne Curry and Hypnotist-Christopher Caress). There was also a couple who did an amazing self-balancing act.

I would hate to see Ocean Liners close. Although we did not eat dinner there (due to the $90 upcharge for both of us), it is a beautiful restaurant reminiscent of the grand ocean liners of the past. It includes wonderful old pictures, fireplace and place settings from those liners.

Although there were two groups on-board as well as countless spring breakers, everyone was very respectful of the other passengers and no incidents occurred.

I understand Connie will be sailing transatlantic early next month and then in Europe for the summer. It then will sail to Asia. Should it come back to Florida, I would not hesitate to sail on her again if the price is right.

  8. Hi,

I am hoping someone has recent pictures of the nightly MDR menus for a 7 night cruise that they can share with me? I am sailing on the Reflection in less than 3 weeks and need to pick which nights to book my Specialty Restaurants. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks :)

I'm looking for the menus for the Constellation for the same reason.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

  9. Thank you Lovethesea.

I noticed on some of the older daily papers from the Connie that a chef's recommendation from the main dining room was listed. Does anyone know which menu will be served the second night of the cruise?

I'm interested because just in case we don't like the menu and choose to eat in the buffet, I might wear a different outfit that is not so dressy.

    Thanks.

  10. I have a choice of cabin 7023 and 7078 for a March sailing.

From a photo it looks like cabin 7023 is next to the superstructure in the front of the ship. Am I correct that the forward view will be obstructed because the cabin balcony is "set back" from the superstructure? The photo also looks like there may be less privacy as someone in cabin 7021 may be able to look around the divider?

Cabin is 7078 is a connecting cabin. Will there still be a loveseat in this cabin or is the connecting door where the loveseat usually is? Are the connecting cabins on the Connie noisier due to the connecting door? Would I expect more noise from the corridor as many more people will be passing by the cabin corner to reach mid-ship cabins?

Many thanks for any first-hand information you can provide.

  11.

Thinking of booking Sweet 16 cabin 6016.

Has anyone stayed in one of the first 3 cabins of Sweet 16?

I'd love to see a photo from the inside of the cabin looking out toward the balcony to be able to see what the superstructure "obstruction" really looks like.
