I think Matt1386 sums things up pretty well in the earlier post. 'A bit interesting' is certainly one way to describe the turn, although we suffered no worse than a spilled cup of tea we did hear stories from some people who were understandably alarmed, thankfully didn't hear of any injuries though.
There were a lot of first time cruisers on this one and of the ones we spoke with not many seemed to be put off by the experience, most were more disappointed by not getting to Amsterdam than bothered about the weather.

I have a theory...
Drink enough cocktails and if the ship is rocking, you will be swaying to counter balance...😊
If many people are not opting to travel, I wonder if we could get a cheap deal?
Andy
Ha, it might be worth a try - we've already discussed the possibility of an upgrade and extra OBC (ever the optimists)! As for the cocktails I'll be asking for them in pint glasses so I don't spill any....

Have a great time Zoe.
Hope the weather is kind.

Cheers, Andy. The forecast isn't pleasant so I expect it might get a bit bumpy, but I'm sure we'll be fine.

We are on this cruise and the email from P and O is saying it's now Zeebrugge on Saturday followed by 2 days at sea instead of a sea day Saturday before Sunday overnight in Imjuden. This is because the worst of the weather will be on Sunday.
No doubt some people will be disappointed and they're offering transfers to other cruises or full refunds to anyone who doesn't wish to travel. Personally I'm not bothered by this but I can sympathise with anyone who will feel let down, however the weather is beyond P and O's control and the safety of the ship and everyone on board is paramount.

Does anyone happen to know if you can still buy individual packs of cigarettes from behind the bars? They used to have a limited range which you could buy if the duty free shop was closed and I appreciate this question may have been asked before, I just wanted to know if this was still the case. We are on Ventura to Amsterdam on Friday and I'm guessing the transition period means the duty free shops won't open.

Is it just me or does anyone else find the exhaustive list of years available when entering your DOB really annoying? Do they get many bookings from people born in 1883?!

I've just had my first look at the new system as our cruise on Azura in June is on it, everything up until now including Ventura next month has used the old CP.
My first impressions weren't good, 3 attempts to log in then a message warning of technical difficulties and I found it very difficult to navigate.
I'm normally not too bad at getting to grips with things like this but I'm just not too optimistic about this one - time will tell.....

We're not long back from 10 nights in a mid-aft balcony on C deck and had absolutely no complaints. We hardly felt any movement at all, although we were blessed with fairly flat seas all the way. We had an inside aft on A deck on a previous cruise and this was perfectly fine as well, but we can't remember how much movement we got in there, sorry.
A deck is higher so any movement of the ship will be amplified, and I would suggest that if you don't fancy forward then aft may not be for you either as you'll feel a similar amount of pitch as forward.

If the weather forecast is correct, he will be following you down the Solent tomorrow 😊

I'll leave a mince pie out just in case he lands on board....

Have a great time Zoe, Aurora is a trooper so hopefully you will be fine.

Cheers, Andy. But watch out I don't come and steal your Santa on the way past, I reckon he'd look great on our balcony!

Yes it is going down a bit, but for 24 hours you will have residual swell. The swell takes a lot longer to die down.
I'm not bothered if it's a bit bumpy once we sail, just hoping Arcadia gets safely away and Aurora gets alongside OK. I'll be awake early tomorrow checking AIS
-
I've just been looking at Aurora too. We're on her tomorrow and just wondering if/how we'll be affected by this. At least it looks like the wind eases tomorrow pm

Cheers for that, Andy. We're only traveling from Portsmouth so if things are looking bad on the motorway we'll use the A27 instead. I was already planning on going via the Itchen bridge to avoid the M271.

I found the cheese selection on CMVs Astoria very good but the biscuits left a bit to be desired.
I always ask for the Stilton on P and O and have never had any problems getting plenty of it.
-
Thanks for the insights from the last few posts, we're counting down the days now and can't wait to get on board. I just hope the M27 is behaving that day, every travel report I hear seems to mention it's got problems.

Some of these photos are making me feel quite festive which I am the first to admit is quite a difficult thing. We are on Aurora on 9 Dec but wouldn't be had we not had to cancel a cruise on Ventura in October. We were disappointed at the time but instead get a longer cruise on a nicer ship (looking even nicer with the decs up) and ports we've not visited before. It's strange sometimes how things work out...

Thanks for the advice, Bin man, I'll get them printed ASAP. Ironically we got an upgrade today and the new details aren't showing yet, I'm hoping they'll update overnight....
-
Sorry if I've missed something but am I right in thinking that the new CP is for certain ships only just now? Our cruise on Aurora next month is still on the old system, although I have to log in twice to access it.

You could use it the archery competitions that seem to appear now. It would probably be more fun than the toy bows and arrows P & O provide. Meant to have quoted the earlier post re bows and arrows there but didn't work....

A few years back we were called over the tannoy in the departure lounge at Southampton and were then taken down to the baggage handling area because there was a penknife in one of our cases. It was actually our son's SAK which we'd thrown in last minute as we'd forgotten a bottle opener. They measured the blade and it was OK but they said if it hadn't of been it would have been confiscated and destroyed.

RCI do them. They have some of the top west end musical stars around September for 4 day cruises.
They're not RCI cruises as such but an RCI ship chartered by a company called Floating Festivals. We did an 80s one last year with the Human League and OMD on board amongst others. It was very good. The next sailing was the west-end themed one you mentioned.

I can do 605 days but I might be fibbing if I said it was the next cruise! (82 days til that)

While not detracting from the seriousness of this incident, what has wound me up is the inaccuracies in the reporting. We all know that the sail away would have been that afternoon and that it probably would have been a formal night at that stage in the cruise. What the majority of people reading the reports won't know is that they are not the same event as seems to have been implied. If we know these facts are slightly blurred then I'm not sure how to trust the accuracy of the rest of the details.

We are on N936 to Amsterdam on Dec 13th, just had an email to update the intinerary so that we arrive in IJmuiden on Sunday morning instead of Saturday and leave Monday afternoon, so basically a day later. The sea day has moved to before IJmuiden instead of afterwards. Perhaps an early arrival spreads out the demand for the shuttle buses.
The email says: In order for us to offer you an efficient shuttle bus service into
Amsterdam, we have arranged to arrive in IJmuiden earlier than originally
scheduled. As a result, we have rotated the port order and made some time
amendments for our call to IJmuiden. We've had a similar email about our cruise in February, perhaps early morning arrival will now be standard procedure

This is at least the second one of these I've had. The email correctly shows 5 future cruises but when I log into my account I can only see 3 of them.
