  1. Not on the Ruby Princess that we saw.
  2. Still that in December. Just does not have the Norman Love name associated with it anymore.
  3. Not with the current version of the pistachio dome. And the Norman Love chocolate pops no longer exist on Princess.
  4. Agree. Princess had it there to replace the steak medallions that used to be there every night.
  5. "Only available during open hours of the venue at which dessert is available." I wonder what that venue will be. Ice cream stand on the Lido deck? Main dining rooms? International Cafe? Good Spirits? other?
  6. For more fun, go to the Personalizer for your cruise and see what is says about the amount of crew appreciation fees when you click on "Important Notices".
  7. It was. And it was offered in the dining room at no extra cost on a formal evening under Princess favorites.
  8. https://book.princess.com/captaincircle/membershipFAQ.page Find it with the topic "Is there a way to customize the mini-bar I get as an Elite member?
  9. Posts on other threads from a couple of ships that have sailed in the past few days say that trade option is no longer available. Just one more reduction in Elite benefit options.
  10. Not really. The "Princess Gourmet Beef Burger"** on the dining room menu was a fancy one and the type was not the same every evening. (**Name was the same even with other ingredients) For example on different evenings: o Stilton cheese and sauteed mushrooms o Gruyere cheese, pork belly, kimchi, beer battered jalapenos o Caribbean jerk seasoned crab meat Not exactly items on the children's menu
  11. And the massive ships can no longer do many of the itineraries that Princess was once known for. These ships cannot sail to many places (such as up the Amazon River which we did with Princess) or go to many places that do not have the tourist infrastructure to provide a good experience for 4000 plus passengers.
  12. The Princess web site says " Yes, you can make changes on board through CrewCall Chat or by dialing room service. Mini bottles of liquor can be exchanged for either the same size of a different type of liquor or beer on a one-to-one basis. You can also exchange the entire setup for: a bottle of wine, coffee cards, sodas only or waters only." Gee, the Princess web site can't be wrong, can it?
  13. But unlike the Plus and Premier packages that are a part of the cruise fare, the Zero Alcohol Package does not include internet or tips.
  14. When we took the upgraded tour we saw plenty of wildlife. Those who took the natural history tour the same day told us they hardly saw any. I have no idea how much of what we saw was in the part of the road that is closed this year. You can see our report of the tour in post #8 at
  15. The chicken and the salmon were on the menu also when the hamburger was there.
  16. After the restart, even the hamburger has disappeared from the favorites section. No beef in that part of the menu anymore.
  17. Yes, scale brings about reduced costs and the technology with the newer (and larger) ships also brings about reduced costs. A ship with 4500 passengers has one Captain just like a ship with 700 passengers does. So the larger ship can have 4500 passengers while only paying for one captain instead of paying for the 6.5 captains needed to carry the same number of passengers on the smaller size ships. Likewise, 1 cruise director, 1 head chef, 1 staff captain, 1 hotel director, etc. instead of the numbers needed for having more smaller ships. And the technology has evolved so that the new and larger ships are much more fuel efficient than ships built years earlier. Likely the cost/passenger to Princess for all the fixed costs (including fuel) on a new ship is significantly less than the smaller and older ships. In fact, CCL Corp has indicated they are growing the total number of passenger berths by building larger ships while reducing the total number of ships in the fleet.
  18. Any menu that has the SD items listed on it is a menu that had reduced other choices to make room on the menu for the SD items to be listed.
  19. Pre-specialty dining, there was a beef entry (of good quality) on the dining room menu each night and at no extra cost.
  20. It is what it should have cost you under the pricing plan when you purchased it. At that time the regular price was $10 day for one person for one device at a time. So for two people with that plan, it would be $70 each (total $140) for a seven day cruise. With platinum/elite discount of 50%, the cost would be $35 each, a total of $70. At that time, a package with up to four devices at a time was $20/day, the same as buying two single use packages. And that is what you bought, $20/day for up to four devices. For seven days that would $140 total and with the 50% discount (rebate in your case when you got on board) would be $70 for the week. Since then the price has increased and what you would now end up paying for a four device package would be significantly more.
  21. What is not a joke is that Princess recently raised the price to experience the Best Wi-Fi at Sea by 50% for one-device at a time.
  22. Was what you saw as spectacular as what the public domain photos show?
  23. To me the problem is they removed a number of my favorite dishes and kept items I never eat. This is true for appetizers, mains, and desserts.
  24. With some Princess ships already having up to 70% Platinum & Elite passengers, having those with high Carnival loyalty status bring that to Princess could mean even a higher percentage of people eligible to use those benefits.
