  1. From the Who are Community Hosts?  The Community Manager? section in the Guidelines:

Our Community Hosts oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to move and delete posts & threads, and perform other simple actions. Becoming a Community Host for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject of the forum they are hosting.

Community Hosts Are Here to Help Out; Their Opinions Are Their Own!

Many of our Hosts contribute to various discussions. They are free to contribute, or not contribute, as they see fit. Their opinions are their own. Cruise Critic does not regulate what the staff says about a location, cruise line, shore excursion or travel provider.

Our volunteers are drawn from a wide circle of daily life. Most of them are experienced travelers -- either realtime or "armchair." All are outside the travel field in their professional lives. You should not believe that our hosts have any additional insight or information simply because they have a "Host" prefix to their name. Cruise Critic Community Hosts are not representatives nor employees of Cruise Critic.

The Community Manager has overall control of everything that happens within the Community. The Community Manager oversees how the board is styled, what forums to create and how to organize them, is responsible for our Rules of Participation, what information to require from members and who to appoint as Community Hosts. You may contact the Community Manager at: community@cruisecritic.com

Send your e-mail from your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record and include your user name.

Thank you for your first post! 👍 However, this is not the forum for your post. Please note the following at the top of the first page of this forum:

Note:  This area is intended only for questions and answers relating to technical assistance in using these message boards.  Please do not post general cruise-related questions or Roll Calls here.

I suggest you click here https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/858-categories/ for the list of all the message board forums on Cruise Critic. Please feel free to browse the list for the correct forum for your topic. Read a few threads in various forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads or Announcements on the top of the first page of a forum. You will find very important instructions or information there.

For research on your cruise line, browse the Viking Ocean forum for Viking Ocean specific subjects. If you want to research the ports on your cruise, browse the various forums in the Ports of Call section. For general cruising information browse the Ask a Cruise Question forum.

Anytime you want to start a new thread on a forum, make sure you are on the correct forum. Word your new thread title in a way to help the members know exactly the information you seek. This will help the members that know the information and they will reply to you. It is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic or concerning one cruise line, ship, port of call, etc. and of course, on the correct forum. You will get more replies that way. Be sure to mention your cruise line, ship, port or sail date in your inquiry if it will help the members with their answers to you.

Also important is finding the Roll Call thread for your cruse. Read What is a Roll Call? Everything you Need to Know and then Roll Call Tool - Under Construction  since the Roll Call Finder tool mentioned in the first link is still OUT OF ORDER at this time. To find your Roll Call thread you will need to browse the thread titles in the Viking Sea Roll Calls forum looking for your sail date.

And after your cruise, be sure to go to our Member Cruise Reviews section and submit your review for publication.

I sincerely hope this information will be helpful and glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! emo35.gif

I see you have already found and posted on the Roll Call thread for your cruise. Now it appears you need to click here https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/858-categories/ for the list of all the message boards on Cruise Critic. Please feel free to browse the list for the correct forum for your topic. Click on the various threads to get a feel for what the various forums are for. For research on your cruise line, browse the Celebrity Cruises forum. If you want info about one of the ports on your cruise, check out the various forums in the Ports of Call section. For general cruising information try the Ask a Cruise Question forum. And after your cruise, be sure to go to our Member Cruise Reviews section and submit your review for publication.

When you use the Start new topic button, make sure you are on the correct forum and then word your new inquiry title to help the other members scrolling through the thread titles to know exactly the information you seek. This will help the members so they can reply to you. It is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic or concerning one cruise line, port of call, etc. and of course, on the correct forum. 7. Please read:

If your review is published in Member Reviews, I suggest an e-mail to reviews@cruisecritic.com from your Cruise Critic e-mail address and mention your user name and the link to your review with your request

If your review is posted as a thread on one of the message board forums, I suggest an e-mail to help@cruisecritic.com from your Cruise Critic e-mail of record and mention your user name and the link to your thread in your request.

Hopefully one or the other will honor your request since it is not the usual type of edit as mentioned in Laura's thread above.

    Good luck! 🍀

  8. Howdy wickky!

Meet & Mingles are hosted by Carnival Cruise Line on their sailings for 7 nights or longer in duration. Your November 18, 2019 Valor cruise is a 5 night cruise. There will be no Meet & Mingle party hosted by Carnival for you and your Roll Call members on your cruise.

So sorry to pass on this bad news. ☹️  Next time you will need to book a longer Carnival cruise. 🙂

If you all agree, you and your Roll Call members can plan some sort of casual get-together on your own. That's what all the Roll Call members sailing Carnival or any other cruise line had to do in the beginning years ago.

At first the only participating cruise line having a hosted party for Cruise Critic Roll Call members was RCI with their Meet & Mingle party. Then later Celebrity joined in with hosting their Cruise Critic Connections party for Roll Call members. Time passed and now there is a long list of participating cruise lines.

While doing your research on the Cruise Critic boards, be sure you are on the correct forum. 11. Back a few years ago, I worked part-time as a pier agent for the outsource company RCI used for their shore-side services in the Port of Galveston.  When there was lots of that white stuff in the air on turn-around day, those of us working the RCI terminal considered it "a dirty four-letter word" and spelled it... wait for it...  PHOG. emo3.gif

Please read CC Help Jenn's  Roll Call Tool - Under Construction in the Announcements . Note NO new Roll Call threads are being added into the Roll Call Finder search tool at this time. Hopefully all Roll Call threads in the Roll Call forums will be added after the tool is repaired, if it ever is.

In the meantime, any members looking for their Roll Call thread for the first time should NOT use the BROKEN search tool. As Jenn mentions, members need to browse their ship's Roll Call forum pages carefully looking for a thread with their sail date in the title. If they do not find one, they need to start one. Yes, this is back to the way it was done before there was a Roll Call search tool. I truly wish 🤞 there was more "signage" out there explaining this situation.

I also suggest you follow the thread in process at this time: What's the status of the Roll Call finder tool?

If there is now more than one Roll Call thread for your cruise, you need to ask for them to be merged into one thread. There should be only one Roll Call thread for each sail date. Send an e-mail to help@cruisecritic.com from your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record.  Please mention each thread title and each link and ask that they be merged. This should be done per the following in How To: Create A New Roll Call:

... If you see two or more threads for the same sail date please email help@cruisecritic.com to have them merged...

I hope this information will be helpful! emo34.gif

...  Unless I've missed something (and apologies if I did), the notices that used to be posted on the right side of the CC pages about the Roll Call finder tool not working (and telling people to browse the Roll Call forums themselves) don't seem to be there any longer...

... And if it still isn't working, is it possible for the "Find your [name of ship] Roll Call" links to be hidden for now, because they are truly confusing many members who don't know what's going on and think there's no Roll Call for their cruise when none shows up from that link...

If you click on Categories and then  Announcements, it is still listed there being lost in all the other Announcements. However, the latest Announcement Q&A with the Coral Expeditions Team has been added to the Announcements area on the far right side of all Cruise Critic pages. This scooted the important notice you mention down and out of sight in that particular Announcements area that is over the Albums area. This is NOT good!

And AMEN! to the suggestion for having the "Find your [name of ship] Roll Call" links to be hidden for now on all the various places where it appears on Cruise Critic. You are soooo correct about the excessive amount of confusion caused over this issue!!!!

Especially for new members that never used the boards in the olden days BEFORE there was a Roll Call Finder tool. Or even older members that have forgotten how we always had to scan a ship's Roll Call forum looking for a thread with our sail date in the title. And members being reminded back then to post often on their Roll Call thread to keep it on the first page of their ship's Roll Call forum. That would make it easier for new Roll Call members to scroll down the thread titles in their ship's Roll Call forum to then find their sail date to then start posting on the Roll Call thread for their cruise.

  16. Howdy y'all!  emo22.gif

Actually, the correct way to do this is an e-mail sent to help@cruisecritic.com from your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record. It should not be sent to community@cruisecritic.com.

    From Community Help Center :

I'd like to change my Member Name

If you would like us to consider a change to your existing Cruise Critic Member Name, please send an email using your Cruise Critic email address of record to help@cruisecritic.com and include ALL of the following information:

    - Current Cruise Critic User Name

    - Reason for Requesting Name Change

    - Four or Five Choices for New User Name

They will go down your list and change your user name to the first available. If all of the names on your list are already taken, they will send you an e-mail asking for another list of possible names. And so it goes until an available new user name is found for you. Remember, with over a million and a half members it can sometimes be hard to find you a user name that is not already in use.

When your old user name is changed, all your previous posts will have your new user name and you will have not lost your post count. If anyone has quoted one of your posts, the quote appearing in their post will show your old user name.

BTW, e-mails about changing your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record should also be sent to help@cruisecritic.com. Again, send your e-mail from your current Cruise Critic e-mail address of record and be sure to mention your user name as well as your new e-mail address.

Hope this information will be helpful to all!

  17. @bigage

Actually there were three Roll Call threads in the Emerald Princess Roll Calls forum for your cruise:

Emerald Princess March 30, 2020 Hawaii

Emerald Princess March 30, 2020 Hawaii 16 Days LA Return

    March 30th 2020 EMERALD PRINCESS

    .

To help clear up the confusion, I sent an e-mail to help@cruisecritic.com asking for the three Roll Call threads to be merged into one thread as it should be. This was done per the following in How To: Create A New Roll Call:

... If you see two or more threads for the same sail date please email help@cruisecritic.com to have them merged...

That's why the info in cherylandtk's post about one of the threads now says, "Sorry, this content is no longer available."

Here is your newly merged Roll Call thread: Emerald Princess March 30, 2020 Hawaii  I suggest you click it and then either Bookmark the URL or use the Follow feature on the thread so you will receive notification of new posts.

I sincerely hope this will be satisfactory.

If you are talking about the old vBulletin Cruise Critic Countdown Clock, it is not available at this time. You will need to find a ticker from some other source.

Here are the final Cruise Critic Management answers re status of the old vBulletin Cruise Critic Countdown Clock:

And here is the Signatures section from the Guidelines:

    Signatures
Cruise Critic has the following suggestions for keeping your online signatures manageable:

    • Keep your images to around three (approx) -- which would include a picture, clipart, photo or your countdown.
    • Try not to have any one image that is TOO large, which then takes additional time for your fellow members to download,
    • If you have a LONG LIST of prior cruises, think about chopping off some, OR rearrange them horizontally rather than vertically;
    • From time to time, browse through your signature and eliminate any extra blank lines, or old countdown codes, etc.

Cruise Critic reserves the right to remove/delete portions of your online signature and will let you know that we've had to resize your online signature.
