    Great suggestion....

Arno does keep a thread who's on board that is very helpful...

I am familiar with that thread... unfortunately, it is not updated often as the printed page on board is no longer available.

And one of the worst things about the 500 error is that after I go back and do get into the thread, there is no longer a circle or star. In other words, I cannot get to the last read without going through the posts on the last page since it now seems to be saying you were there already...

When the circle or star is gone and the thread title is no longer bold, look to the right for the last poster's user name. Underneath is the time of their last post. Click the time and you will be taken to the last post. You can then scroll up the last page to your last read.

    Hope this helps!

  3. @Shmoo here

I fully understand your position on the matter.  Please feel free to do as you want.  🙂

    However, as Turtles06 says...

We just had a similar situation on a HAL cruise we have booked.  It's 11 nights long. Some folks are doing it with the next cruise as a B2B, and someone started a Roll Call for BOTH sailing dates as one Roll Call.  For obvious reasons, that is not what CC prefers, and CC was kind enough to get the Roll Calls separated...

I just want to mention that years ago I separated Roll Call threads. It is a bummer to do and even more so when it is a Roll Call thread that grows to be a very long one. The splitting part was easy, but the figuring out which posts go where was the time consuming part.

I promise I'm not trying to influence you!  Just passing on info.

Thanks.  Funny that's posted on the Maasdam Roll Calls forum.  The Roll Call in question is a Maasdam cruise.  Someone has already started the longer cruise Roll Call, and the title has both segments names in it.

You are most welcome, but I cheated. 😈  I looked at your previous posts to see which line & ship you were talking about.

Talk to the OP of the longer cruise Roll Call thread. Explain the situation and refer them to Host Walt's directions about there needing to be separate Roll Call threads for each segment. See if they will allow their thread title to be changed to include just its start date, the amount of days and its one marketing title. Also explain the new Roll Call thread for the shorter cruise will have a title including its start date, the amount of days & the OTHER marketing title. That should make it easier for members to find each of them.

Again with an explanation of what is going on, CC Help Jenn at help@cruisecritic.com will be able to change the Roll Call title that needs changing.

Again, lots of good luck! ☘️ 🍀🍀☘️

... How would it be handled if those people only doing the shorter, first part, of the cruise want to have their "own" Roll Call?...

See dear Host Walt's (RIP) pinned thread at the top of the Maasdam Roll Calls forum.

Also see his other pinned thread in the same forum.

If there is no Roll Call thread started for the other cruise, why don't you do it but explain the situation & why you are starting it. That way the thread will be titled correctly for sure. If a newbie starts it, they may not be aware of the correct protocol for titling HAL Roll Call threads as mentioned in Walt's thread and how helpful it will be to include HAL's marketing name in the title. Hopefully they DO have separate marketing names! Of course, the links to each Roll Call should be posted in each thread. Also that members sailing either or both cruises should feel free to post on each Roll Call thread and be welcomed on each.

However, the fact they both have the same start date will be a problem if the Roll Call finder tool is ever fixed. You might want to clarify all this with CC Help Jenn at help@cruisecritic.com and see if she has any further info.

    Good Luck! 🍀

And then there is also the first 11/29/20 Roll Call thread you started:

There should be only one Roll Call thread for each cruise. Note the following from the pinned thread titled How To: Create A New Roll Call at https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2594925-how-to-create-a-new-roll-call/:

... If you see two or more threads for the same sail date please email help@cruisecritic.com to have them merged...

Send an e-mail requesting the merge from your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record and mention your user name. Also, be sure to show both thread titles and their links in your e-mail.

As Shmoo here mentions above, the FIND YOUR ROLL CALL search tool is Out of Order. See the Announcement:

As Turtles06 mentions above, the tool appears to have both listed at https://www.cruisecritic.com/rollcalls/?cruise_line_id=203&ship_id=748&page=3. However when you click View Discussion for the one listed as November 1, 2020, it takes you to a thread that needs to be deleted titled South Africa Nov 2020 at https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2589119-south-africa-nov-2020/.

Even though the tool is having problems right now, in your e-mail about the merge of your duplicate Roll Call threads for the same sail date, you can mention the Roll Call thread mentioned above that needs to be deleted and ask if it is possible for your to be merged 11/29/20 Roll Call threads and your 11/01/20 Roll Call thread to be manually added to the tool.

As far as seeing the Roll Calls you have started "on the same page" as you want, at this time the only place is the Viking Star Roll Call Forum listing all Viking Star Roll Call threads at https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/787-viking-star-roll-calls/. However since all threads in any forum are listed in last post date and time order, there will need to be a post on each of your Roll Call threads on the same day and at the same time for them to stay together on the forum's list. ☹️

Also, for quick access to your Roll Call threads, Bookmark each one or put them in your Favorites. That way you will not have to take the time to go through to your profile settings.

Hope this additional information will be helpful! 🙂

Here is your Roll Call thread:

Click here for the Celebrity Medical Needs page: https://www.celebritycruises.com/special-needs/medical-needs

Note the contact info is there for you to ask about policies and procedures that may effect your cruise due to your food allergy concerns. Also you can download the Celebrity Guest Special Needs Form from the same page. They request that you or your TA submit the form to them at the time of booking or no later than 30 days prior to sailing. As for your food allergy situation, you will find it addressed on the last page of the form. Also the last page of the form has more contact information.

I hope this information will be helpful! 😊

  9. Kat,

I went to the Carnival forum. Clicked on the Search feature and then This Forum. I put the words drinks on us in the search field and clicked the magnifying glass. A list of 8 results came up.

Hope this will show you what I saw:

    https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=drinks on us&type=forums_topic&item=2663048

All 8 results are various posts on the same thread titled Drinks On Us? and the thread gives you the information you seek.

    Hope this helps!

I would think that they wouldn't have to read "each post on each thread in each forum".

It would just be nice if someone would show up here on this forum (the one where we're asking for help) periodically to gather comments/complaints to forward to those people who could do something about them.

They shouldn't have to hunt for any posts anywhere on the boards that contain any comments/complaints/feedback about the management of the boards. That's because all comments/complaints/feedback regarding the management of the boards should be in e-mails to Management and not posted on any of the boards. As stated in the Guidelines:

... Discussion of the management of this community is not allowed on the forums.  Your post will be removed and you may receive a Guideline Reminder.  However, we would be happy to address any concerns you have via email.   Please write to the Community Manager at:  community@cruisecritic.com...

    Also from the Guidelines:

... If you have any questions or comments regarding our posting guidelines or any content found on our message boards please be sure and let me know. I'll be happy to discuss them with you.

Sorry Kat -- I didn't mean to sound so snarky. I do understand that the mods and techs here work very hard, at what at times must seem like a thankless job.

However, Shmoo makes a very good point -- a little periodic feedback -- even if it's just a quick post to say you're aware of the problem, and working on it, would be very helpful in situations like this. We would at least know that someone at CC is aware of the problems that we are experiencing. Actually, I would think that this board would actually be a better information source for you guys, than a bunch of random, individual e-mails. For one thing, I'm not experiencing exactly the same thing, as someone else may be. Where others are getting a '500' error code, I just get a blank screen -- which I have to back out of, and then try to find another way to where I wanted to go.

    Anyway, thanks for listening.

    You are most welcome! 👍

No "snarkiness" detected here! ☺️ And yes it became hard work for me from 2005 to 2015. My "cyber life" took over my "real life" then along came health problems so I had to leave my post. ☹️

I fully understand how both of you & others feel about wanting Staff/Management/Host/Moderator to pop in. However, they shouldn't have to if e-mails were sent instead of posting on the boards as requested in the Guidelines.

I also understand how both of you & others feel that posting on the boards is better than sending e-mails. However, that's not the way Management wants it done per the... wait for it... Guidelines. 🙂

Now that the weekend is over, hopefully CC Help Jenn will see this thread and check in soon.

... Is anyone at CC working on this problem -- or do we have to wait until sometime next week, to have these issues addressed??

It is impossible for Staff/Management to read each post on each thread in each forum to see any site feedback, questions, comments or concerns about Cruise Critic. As for the Hosts/Moderators, they are not Staff/Management nor employed by Cruise Critic. They are non-paid volunteers trying to help "direct traffic" and must follow the Moderator Handbook given to them by the Community Manager. The paid Staff/Management work normal business days & hours. The non-paid volunteer Hosts/Moderators work on the boards when their private lives permit.

An e-mail to LauraS, Senior Community Manager, at community@cruisecritic.com is the correct method for all members to get their site feedback, questions, comments or concerns about Cruise Critic to the proper place as requested in the Guidelines. All e-mails to Cruise Critic are handled in order of receipt. I suggest your request for feedback on the current problem should be via e-mail from your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record to the Senior Community Manager and be sure to mention your Cruise Critic user name. This helps for a quicker verification of your membership for a reply. With over a million and a half members and e-mails being received 24/7 from all over the world, please be patient for any reply or action.

I sincerely hope this information will be helpful!

  12. However, please read the following post concerning the ONLY reasons a post will be deleted or edited by using the "Report post" feature or in an e-mail to help@cruisecritic.com:

Also, please note the following from the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships:

    Posts Appear Immediately
We do not review messages before they are posted and you cannot delete your own messages once they are posted. As much as we'd like to, our volunteer staff is too busy to delete messages for you, extend spell-check services or rescue you from a momentary lapse in good judgment! ? If you don't see your message after posting it, close your browser or click your "refresh" to see your posting. You'll see it -- and so will everyone else!

No, better not. Any Guideline violating posts that mention or even have masked/veiled hints of a TA name observed by Cruise Critic staff/management/hosts/moderators or reported by a member with the Report Post function will be removed. As well as any other posts or quotes of posts in the conversation. Everyone in the conversation will run the risk of receiving Guidelines Reminders or suspension of posting privileges.

From the Travel Agent Recommendations section in the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships:

    Travel Agent Recommendations

There shall be no third-party recommendation (whether positive or negative in content) of travel agencies on any forums within Cruise Critic. General discussions regarding the TYPE of AGENCY to be used to purchase a cruise will be allowed, as long as no recommendations for any source of purchase are posted.

Touting of your personal cruise agent or cruise line "personal cruise consultant" (or any other venue by which you purchase a cruise) is not allowed on our message boards. Postings that contain "tell them John sent you" will be removed without notice.

This means you should not ask about someone's travel agent, nor should you respond in kind. Offering to email someone your travel agent's name or info is also not allowed, nor is asking members to email you for the information.

Critic will remove violations of the "third-party recommendation" guideline without warning. Additional posts may result in permanent suspension of your posting privileges.

Hope this information will be helpful! 😃

    Happy sails,

"Gone in a flash" so true! For morning coffee, we put the $$ out on the counter the night before. That way, it is easy to grab on the way to open the door & easy to hand off to them as they scoot away.

I won't be editing my signature because of the 10 line limit.  I wasn't even close to exceeding the limit before the redesign, but I exceed it now.  I am currently at 11 lines.  I would like to add three more.  I don't want to use commas or slashes because it would look too crowded.  I like having each cruise on a separate line.  I think it is easier and more pleasant to read.

I fully understand your feelings. However the Signatures portion of the  Posting and You! section in the Guidelines  asks those of us with long lists of prior cruises to think about chopping off some OR rearranging them horizontally rather than vertically. If you list yours horizontally, you will probably be able to fit your present list and be able to include the other three. Probably a complete horizontal list of prior cruises in your signature will show under your posts. No one will need to click the Expand signature feature as they do now to be able to see all of your current vertical list.
