  1. I agree totally with Mrs Goggins. I don't check $ to £ comparison when booking with Celebrity and I have never used a USA T/A as I am not confident in choosing a reputable agent plus I like control of my booking, however, I do get slightly annoyed when USA cc members get the automatic price drops up to final payment and UK cruisers just have to take it as unfortunate if a cruise price drops from the time of booking. I also have a current annoyance that as I prefer to book online ( my choice I know) I did not qualify for the captains club one category cabin upgrade for our cruise in 2 weeks. When I emailed, after making the booking and realising others had this "perk" on the same cruise, I was informed that it had to be requested at the time of booking and could not be applied retrospectively. I had input my Captain Club reference at the time of booking and ideally this should have been automatically calculated in the price but hey I am going on a cruise and my rant is over.

hiya...i emailed captains club before booking online about the 1 category upgrade.. and she told me it was fine to book online and then ring captains club after booking and they would alter the price. we ended up booking late on a sunday night, and when i rang the next day she told me it was too late as i should have rung straight after booking.( which they didn't initially tell me...just said "after booking").. i explained that i tried to ring but they were shut, and she then proceeded to amend the price down to the category below

  2. Yeah I view it as a cost reduction on the cabin I want rather than an upgrade. We prefer the 1a cabins to most of the concierge so would rather go for the 1a and pay the 1b price...which we have now just done and saved £212 on the cost of our large balcony 1a cabin

  3. anyone ever had issues getting the download link for their photos purchased on board? been back from cruise for 2 weeks now and despite numerous emails to the ourcruisephoto company whereby they keep saying they're looking into it, and that my photos are safe, i'm beginning to lose faith that we will ever get them. doesn't help that i now assume they've been evacuated from their Miami office as i'm getting no reply to emails and the phone just says its down. wondering if anyone else has ever waited as long as this and yet still got them eventually??

  4. hi

maybe a silly question but with the one room upgrade thing through captains club...do the cabin levels go up just as they appear when youre looking at prices online? ie the category below a 1A is actually a SV rather than a 1B? and 1b is actually a level lower than 2A??so the more expensive the cabin, the higher category it is? trying to decide which category to book if i then want to get the discounted price for the cabin below?

    cheers

  5. The deal we got at the future cruise desk Included 2 perks AND $500 OBC, We also got upgraded from C3 to C2 for no extra charge by just asking ! It seemed to me the agents at this desk have a certain amount of leeway in making a sale.

dont believe everything they tell you though - (or dont tell you as the case may be) remember - they want to make a sale!!

  6. Yes, they are still there. The sirloin steak and salmon are also available everyday.

have to say that steak wasn't available every day on our recent cruise....they tended to alternate the timeless classics. I know this cos there was one night that I didn't fancy anything off the daily menu, so went to look for the timeless steak and it wasn't there. i'm sure if id have asked they probably would have done it for me, but just wanted to say its not necessarily on the menu each night..

  7. This is part of the T&C for Future Bookings as seen on the Celebrity UK website:

10 Guests who wish to take advantage of a new UK market promotion/benefit(s) at a later date, whilst keeping the same ship and sail date will have to cancel (at loss of deposit or applicable cancellation charges) and re-book to access the benefits of the new promotion/benefit(s). The unlimited free changes apply to changing ship and/or sail date only.

Maybe just my devious mind, but I wonder could work our for you if you change to a different ship and sail date, then change back a few days later???. Possibly the original stateroom would have gone, but would anyone really follow the trail I wonder. If you are considering cancelling and losing the deposit anyway it may be worth a try.

By the way the full T&C are on this link: https://www.celebritycruises.co.uk/terms-and-conditions/promotional-terms/#Future Cruise Promotion

Thats exactly what my issue is - I was told I could do that - and now I've come to do it they are saying I can't

  8. Some of you seem to be missing the point....I'm fully aware that when you make a normal booking you risk the price going down...that happened with our first cruise and we cancelled and rebooked and even with loss of deposit we were still better off. What's annoying me is the way we were duped into thinking booking on board was a no brainer as we couldn't possibly lose out ...because we could get the exact same cruise for any lower prices that may come in...one way or another...we wouldn't have booked on board so early had we known this wasn't the case...we would have waited until a good offer came out on the cruise we wanted.so I'm not complaining about the price going down...I'm complaining about being told it wouldn't matter if the price went down cos we could get that price!!

  9. The difference is that you are able to obtain the price drops before final payment and take the new promotions should it be more beneficial to you and not lose a penny. Unfortunately, the post above is from someone who was told the wrong information and is likely to lose her deposits and up to £900 in just a few week because she was misinformed. I'm sure if she was able to take the price drops as you are for her booking before final payment, then she wouldn't be on CC asking about how she could cut some of her losses ;).

Yeah....the words from the agent were that we couldn't lose by booking on board....well I'm sorry but we have ..the same cruise is now £900 cheaper and we can't get it ......that's a "lose" to me .

  10. So the £900 off is a perk Then? If we move our existing booking with flexible deposit onto a random cruise but opt for free drinks and £900 reduction, can we then move to a different cruise if one comes up when the new schedule comes out later this year, but opt to take the £900 off and free drinks with us.? :o Surely Not??

  11. thanks all....does anyone know whether the current £900 off cruise fare is classed as a "perk"? ie. if we moved our onboard booking which had perks of $300 OBC and unlimited drinks - to a different ship/sailing but had the £900 price reduction - would we be able to keep the perks we had at time of booking and bring them with us - but pay the reduced price. Or is the reduced price a perk, and we would have to choose between keeping our existing ones or taking the £900 price reduction and losing the perks we had?

    Ta

  12. First sailed on X in 1994 and have never heard of this as an option. Asked a friend that does this for a living and she said, ' no way Jose'. Sorry you were mis led.

    Footnote,

You can move the booking any number of times, just not back to the original date and ship, is what she told me.

yeah it seems we were misled having gone through the t's and c's with a fine toothcomb now - but that is down to the agent - she 100% told us we could do it and foolishly (it seems) we put our faith in her before booking. Had we known this, we would have booked a random cruise we know we never would want to go on, with the intention of moving to the one we did want to go on when a good offer came out - which inevitably would have done

  13. So so annoyed........booked a future cruise whilst on board recently - to take advantage of the flexibility with low deposit. Specifically asked the question about how many times we could change the booking - "as many times as you want" Specifically asked if there was a way to keep the current cruise and get benefit of lower price if they went down....was told t's and c's were that we would need to cancel and re-book - but the way round it was to move to another cruise, and then later move back to first cruise - saying we had changed our minds again. (we already thought about doing this but waited to see if agent suggested same - which she did).

just rung celebrity to instigate the first move due to price reduction of £900 - asking how long I had to wait before i made the next change... and was told I could only move it once, and if i then wanted to move it again we would have to cancel and re-book - losing deposit (and OBC for booking on board i assume )I said this wasn't what we were told, and was basically told I was lying - they'd checked with on board staff who said they would never tell anyone they could move to another cruise and then go back again !!

having been held on phone for 35 minutes, now been told someone will ring me back in a few days once they've spoken to on board manager.... I wouldn't mind if we hadn't specifically asked about doing what we wanted to do and been told it was ok. Plus the written t's and c's are very misleading - they say booking on board means "unlimited free changes to another ship/sail date" but doesn't say as long as one of the ships isn't one you've already previously booked on.....grrrrrrrr

  14. We have just returned from a Baltic Cruise with Celebrity and used TJ Travel... almost half the price of the ships tour and we got to see all the same things - no queuing....excellent guide.......meal on first day included, hydrofoil ride, subway station visit, russian pub ! Would definately recommend them - tours are only for a max of 16 people on each mini bus I believe so no big crowds to wait for.

  15. The lowest denomination notes is £5 and 5 Euro. There has never been (I think) a 1 Euro note and the £1 note ceased to be legal tender in 1988.

The crew might not like it but on European cruises (where tipping isn't exactly customary in many countries) they're going to get coins from many passengers. I can't see many people routinely tipping £5 for the delivery of a small room service order. Many people I suspect a small tip is less than £5.

yep....totally agree....i have no intention of tipping £5 or €5 each time. (not when Ive already paid nearly £400 in tips already)..and I won't have dollars - as once we buy them we are stuck with them, or else we lose a fortune when we change them back to pounds....so unfortunately its going to be euro coins they get from me for room service....if they don't like them they can always refuse the tip :)
