  1. Looks like they have also discontinued that. I remember seeing pictures of my parents on the Maid of the Mist ---- MANY MANY years ago.
  2. We passed through our first Lock at 4 but been in a holding position due to some congestion downstream.
  3. We haven’t made it too far. Just after exiting the first lock we were instructed to hold due to congestion
  4. I have to say Niagara Falls are incredible. Would love to see them at night when lit with colored lights.
  5. That really is their forte. Exotic locations and places large ships could not access We did say it might be similar to a river cruise. We were considering river. Ruined but after visiting one in Bruges we decided it might be too small.
  6. The ship has really good animation on the tv as well as a webcam. The Observation deck is on our floor. The Birdman was out talking about the birds 🐦
  7. The final stop was at Welland Canal. We will be going through this later this afternoon. They extended our stay so we could view a freighter enter the canal. IMG_7219.mov
  8. It’s 4:00 PM and sitting on Veranda posting. We are next to enter the river and Lock system. If I remember we will go through 3 locks in 90 miles and drop over 200 feet.
  9. Arrived at Niagara Falls 30 minutes later. The English Speaking guide isn’t usually a guide. He is a nurse but very knowledgeable and great story teller.
  10. Up at 7:00 am for a quick breakfast. Excursions are so much easier than celebrity. Meet at designated time in main lounge. They call your tour and off the ship and onto a bus. They check you off by cabin as you board. Port Colbourne The have wireless receivers and headphone. We had one guide in French and one in English.
  11. Sometimes communication is lacking. Example the original schedule was we would be arriving Port Colborne at 1:00 PM. Last night we received our excursion tickets with a 8:00 AM departure time. Iain was not pleased. It would have been a disaster if we had scheduled a private tour.
  12. On this cruise we only had one sea (Lake) day. That was yesterday as we sailed from Parry Sound - through the River between Lake Huron and Lake Erie. This included a sail by Detroit.
