  1. I hoped that with the time off Royal would have revamped the Quest (and some of the trivia) just a little. It is still the same. Silly requests, Shania Twain at the end, men strutting around in lipstick and heels. It's just a little tired and predictable. How about some new things thrown in?
  2. Was on Indy, November and had a very large group with speakers at the Solarium. No one said anything to them. Felt more like a club than an adult area pool. I wish everyone could learn that musical taste is personal) not everyone likes to hear your type of music. Next was Mariner, early December. An officer (a young Ukranian woman?) was having none of the nonsense. I watched her approach 3 different groups at the solarium pool throughout the day to have them lower or shut off their speakers. Not only that but she then approached two families at different times, one for having a baby in a stroller parked poolside and another time to remove a child and the family from the solarium hot tub. Good for her!
  3. I have never heard this complaint from any crew member for as long as I have been sailing. Over time we have become friendly with many of the crew on many Royal ships and I have never had any of them tell me they were "starving" I have heard them say that the food is bland, tasteless and much the same every day. Lots of rice, vegetables, bread and pasta. Maybe the crew member was just missing food from home and was having a hard time adjusting to the food choices. That would show poorly of Royal to "starve" their people. Don't you think?
  4. They took away our scissors at the pier, but will let bladed skates on board? hmm, that just seems wrong!
  5. Sorry to hear you caught the covid! My husband got covid on a cruise in October, and then gave it to me. He then caught the flu on a May cruise which later became "flurona" We just know now that its on the ships and we have accepted it. It won't stop us from cruising. Vaxxed and double boosted so we no longer worry.
  6. Thank you for the honest review. I enjoy the 3 and 4 day cruises on Indy. I do agree that everything seems to go by so quickly. I wish the headliners could be a little more varied, but I understand that nowadays they take who is available. But good gosh, how many juggling comedians are out there! As soon as I see that they are headlining, I say No. No. No.
  7. Some of the 30 year old songs are still pretty good..... Metallica, Nirvana, Mariah Carey, TLC, Guns N Roses, the list goes on. A book? What is? HAHA!
  8. The last few years have been especially hard on the kids. Now they are acting like, well, kids. Cruising as a teen or tween can sometimes be boring if there is not teen or tween things going on to interest them. (especially at night). On our last Symphony cruise we saw quite a few kids bored out of their minds at the house band evening show at Dazzles. Most of those kids had no idea about the music being played. Why would they? Some of those songs are 30 years old! We watched a few try to get into the RED nightclub as well. I felt bad for them. (I remember trying those same tricks when I was underage.) They are just looking to be entertained like the adults. I'm not defending making bad choices, such as screaming out the lyrics to "Golddigger" by Kanye West while running down the hall (This really did happen and if you know this song, it is NOT acceptable to be screaming out the lyrics like a fool) But I do try to cut the kids some slack. It's not easy trying to figure it all out in this world today.
  9. I agree Crilski! they are so good! I also have to add the hashbrown patties with ketchup, Mmmm.
  10. Just got off the 8 day symphony. I have never seen so many kids (many of them coughing & sneezing) I would guess less than 10% in masks, more worn in the casino than anywhere else on the ship. The elevators were overpacked and people just kept piling in. Buffet at Windjammer was very crowded and all self serve. (however, everyone seemed patient and kind) The crowds are back-some people have forgotten how to act in public. Was told by multiple workers that we were under 90% capacity. We got an extra day due to the storm and it seemed that just about everyone was happy about it.
  11. Everyone should be able to handle the covid pandemic as THEY see fit at this point. If you are comfortable wearing a mask on the ship than by all means do so. If you are comfortable without one than by all means go for it. Who cares what everyone else is doing? as long as you feel relatively safe and comfortable on the cruise you paid for I believe each person should be free to deal with it as they see fit. Who am I to say if someone should just "stay home" I don't judge mask wearers or non maskers. We all luckily have our individual freedom back, and be lucky enough to finally get back to what we love doing-cruising!
  12. I said it a long while back.... its a ridiculous concept. Sitting through it once was enough. Jellicle cats! Jellicle cats!
  13. I tried getting information once for a roatan cruise a few years ago but i found that they wanted a six hour minimum and the price was really high and did not include any costs other than the guide and did not include the tip. Decided to do a regular excursion through royal instead. i never inquired about using private journeys again.
  14. I have always done this. Never have known there was another way. I learned something today.
  15. Kracken rum in place of any other rum in any of the drinks is always delicious. Ask for it as a floater on top of a frozen drink. Love it in the coladas or mango dax.
