  1. Thanks for the info Gotts 123. Great info about Glacier Bay and Legends concert. Since Glaciers are one of the reasons I want to visit Alaska and I'm usually up very early I know just where to go now, so you have done me a huge favor. I'll have hoodie and jacket already to go. Sounds like Spinnaker Lounge is somewhere I will be spending a lot of time, too.

I only had 2 offers but I still get the banner offering the upgrade. Last time I looked only inside and ocean view were available, now only balcony is available. They are just toying with me I think.

When you log into MYNCL do you see a banner that says something about upgrading? I think I got the email about 5 weeks before sail date. I guess you could always call them if you are interested in upgrading, the worst they could do is say you aren't eligible.

  3. Thank you for all the answers.

DH will be glad about the pool for sure. I was hoping for several hours in Glacier Bay so that makes me happy.

With the # of people using CPAPs these days you'd think when they updated they would have added a plug near the bed. I'll just keep extension cord in the bag.

And I may just have to put up with warm water, ice cubes won't last on an 8 hour excursion :) But I can take my granola bars and that's a good thing.

  4. "I haven't been at 66 since the last flow changes, but if you ask one of the volunteers (recognizable by their attire) they can direct you to the concierge desk that runs the luggage storage. I believe it's near the entry but I would hate for you to wander aimlessly with baggage."

Thanks I just hope the airline cooperates and gets us there when expected so I have the extra day and can do both Market & Chihuly

  5. "For entertainment, with a few exceptions, you never really know who/what is going to be available until you see your daily newsletter."

Unless you are like me and have pursued the CC forum finding newspapers from other recent trips on the same ship. :)

I haven't gone so far as to decide where we are eating each meal, just the Specialty dining one night for which I've made reservation. And I do know where I want to go on embarkation day (anywhere but the buffet.) I want to try the different dining options but haven't gone so far as to decided which day/meal to do when. I'm a "little" more relaxed than that.

  6. Sorry if these are silly or dumb questions but since this is our first (and I hope not only if DH has a good time) and I'm a planner, hopefully someone will take pity on me and answer my questions anyway.

Does anyone that has traveled through Glacier Bay this summer remember about how long the ship stayed in the Bay?

Is the pool on the Pearl heated? Worth taking a swimsuit on an August cruise to Alaska?

I have a collapsible water bottle that if I fill halfway with water and freeze keeps my water cold quite a while. And I hate drinking warm water. Is there any place where I could get my bottle frozen, or is it something I could ask the steward to do? There is really only one day (long excursion) where it would really help to have it frozen instead of just filled with cold water.

Do magnets work on the walls (I've seen different answers) and did you use them? I've seen some comments that after the last dry dock there have been USB outlets added by beds but what about electrical, do we still need a 12 ft extension cord for CPAP? (Will be in an inside cabin unless I get lucky and my offer is accepted for Oceanview or Balcony which isn't looking too good)

For the shows on Pearl (specifically Legends) according to the website reservations aren't accepted. Is the show available multiple times? How early do you need to arrive to get seats?

If you wanted to sit and just have, or be, quiet, and watch ocean where on the ship would you go? Obviously cabin won't work to watch ocean since it's an inside.

I've seen in various posts that food is not allowed to be taken off ship, does that include something like individually wrapped granola bars (from home?) Sometimes suffer from low blood sugar and really need to eat something.

Sorry if these are silly questions but never cruised before.

  7. On NCL Pearl in august (first cruise) which arrives in Victoria approx 6pm. I really wanted to go to Craigdarroch Castle (I know it's not really a castle) and there is an excursion we could take, however, when I looked up the Castle online, website indicates it closes at 7pm. Well if ship doesn't dock until 6 and we have to get off and meet excursion is that even enough time to try to see the Castle or should we plan something else?

Any suggestions besides gardens if Castle is out?

  8. Very much a planner. DH doesn't plan at all but expects me to know where/when/how. I also plan to make sure we see and do the things we want to do. If its a trip we will probably never take again, I don't want to find out later that if I had just done some research we could have seen/done something wonderful.

Used to just go with the flow but after driving until midnight one trip, after a very early start, because he could drive just a little further. Turned out to be hunting season and we had to drive a whole lot further to find somewhere with a vacancy. I now make reservations and tell him this is where we are stopping. Somehow it always turns out that he's glad we stopped when we did.

  9. "We spoke with someone from NCL last night. I figured when we saw that all the rooms in the category we bid on an upgrade were no longer available, that there is no way we would get the room. The rep told me however that they will pull the rooms and make them no longer available so that the bidders will get them."

Makes me feel a little better. My upgrade option was "sold out" this morning. Of course it may actually be sold out but now there is a little hope. Offer is still shown as pending. I won't hold my breath though.
