Passengers have been passing through EWR daily for months. Is there any difference between  passing through an airline terminal and a cruise terminal? Just curious.

Well I would think the cruise line would have a manifest  of where people are traveling from. State or Cruise line could request proof of quarantine before allowed on the ship.  You get off a plane your on the honor system

We were originally booked on the November 1 TA but of course that was cancelled.  I don’t see how NY/NJ will allow the ship to be in port.  Plus many states require people coming from NY/NJ to quarantine when they arrive back home.  In my opinion it is going to be a long time before we see cruises out of this area.

That's a good point. Right now NJ requires 34 states to quarantine on arrival

  3. Can't imagine Anthem will sail this year. Especially from the NJ/NY area. Don't think the Governors of NY/NJ are going to go for a ship with 3-4k people leaving from their ports.  I have a sailing in march and  wondering whats going to happen with that 1. Anthem is a cold weather ship, with mostly indoor venues. Are they going to shut the solarium, shut the indoor pool, the  seaplex, the list could go on and on. Then there's  really nothing to do on her. In the summer or spring could get away with sailing on Anthem, and find a nice socially distance place outside  to hang.  But in a NJ winter  first 2 days and the last day your stuck inside.

  4. My family and I have a March cruise booked out of San Juan. Wife came to me yesterday saying she didn't think it would be smart to leave  out of San Juan, And would rather just hop on  a ship from our  home port (cape Liberty). No flight,  no hotel. I'm not ready to give up hope, and would rather cancel closer to final payment date.  So here is my dumb idea. Can you have 2 bookings for 2 different ships, leaving on the same day. And what would I be on the hook for money wise. (I think $400, but not sure on the cruise that I cancel) The San Juan cruise is a non refundable deposit.  Would the $400 be issued as a FCC . Thanks for any info, advice.

We are cruising Alaska in June 2021.  The Air2Sea website just published airfare rates for our travel but I didn't see or find an option to reserve as refundable.  I thought I read you could do this but couldn't find the details, I appreciate your help as this will be our 1st time using this method.  Thx in advance!!

Just booked with them 2 days ago.  Was told all fares refundable up to 90 days out, and can price adjust up to that date as well. No $ upfront, thought it was a great deal.

  6. Just got off the phone with RCI today. They told me that individual FCC's can be applied to the total price of a cruise. As opposed to individual FCC's only being used for the person that it was issued to. Is it true, If so that is a great change. You never know with RCI, every time you call them you hear something different.

Perhaps your TA booked you into what is called a Friends and family rate.  The only way to know that would be to ask your TA.  I’m not sure if that shows on Royal’s guest booking invoice or not.

there were a lot of friends and family rates on the Oasis sailings if you booked in the past 6 months.

the friends and family rates are only available to TA’s and not on the Consumer website but some TA‘S do quote them if they are available.

unfortunately it is clear in the FAQ’s that These rates are not eligible for the lift and shift.

this is the only thing I can think of as to why your shift and lift was denied because you have met all the other criteria.

Friends and family rates were definitely available for your July 4 sailing...great rates

Great rates indeed. Never had a problem with the TA, but I don't ask for anything usually. But never had to deal with a pandemic before. lol.  Doesn't say anything about  Friends& Family only Vacation club. Just wanted to know for the future. Thank you for the info.

Maybe the problem is you waited until it was cancelled. You had to do it before it got canc? Idk I'm just speculating.

I had a very good rate on liberty I lost. Checked prices for a month solid before I finally got a price that I wanted. Poof. Was before days of lift and switch.

Was the itinerary the same length?

Were they both the 7 day Bahamas Cruise?

Were you switching to the same category cabin?

What reason did they give you because those are the criteria as well as having to switch 1 year in the future Plus or minus 4 weeks.  Price is not a concern unless you were booked undera friends and family rate, inter line or TA rate as those fares are not eligible for the Lift and switch.

Same everything. Tried to L&S a couple of weeks age before the latest announcement.  What would be a TA rate, and how would I know If I had that. I usually book through a cruise comparison site, and the best deal usually gets my $.

First I called up RCI and they told me I could do it, then spoke to TA and they they told me no. So I call RCi back again and they changed their tune. No real answer. So sent an email  to Mr. Bayley. Just think I got to good of a deal on my canceled cruise and they don't want to honor the price.

  10. Do you think cruise lines should come up with a policy ,where they refund your money or a FCC for a cruise if you get sick on the cruise. I think a lot of people get sick and dont say anything. Thus infecting more people. Note: I have never gotten sick on a cruise, Hungover hell yeah.
