Very sad news.RIP

Following along ! We will be making the same journey in November! 

We we were planning on renting a car as we arrive on Thanksgiving so I’m assuming Uber’s and Cabs will be very expensive!

travelling from Ireland so unsure what will be open on thanksgiving 

Captain Kate’s daily Confucius quotes were always good for a laugh! She turned out to be very funny during her announcements! Found myself really looking forward to them each day!

I have never seen the random inspections happen but for anyone that was on the Equinox on 14th May cruise this year will have experienced the horrific situation at Key West where the customs guys decided to do a FULL customs procedure.

Every non-US citizen had to fill out green customs forms and get checked individually and stamped to get through! It was a total nightmare - we waited for over 2 hours and missed a huge portion of our port time in Key West!

The cruise staff were fantastic and kept us informed as much as they could! Apparently the immigration guys can decide to do this whenever they like and on this occasion only gave the staff an hours notice and had to clear everyone out of then dining room while they “set up!” Before letting everyone queue up again! Logistical nightmare for the staff! Lots of annoyed people and we were also told that the cruise staff were not permitted to provide any refreshments to those waiting and had to distribute the forms that had not been used in over 2 years! Lucky us! Lol

All in all it seems they have do what they like without question... and that’s more or less what the head of customer service on the ship told us as we neared the top of the Queue!

Very well played on your part! I know other people have said it already but please at least try and enjoy your cruise! Understandable if you decide this is the last celebrity cruise you will book but enjoy it while you are there!

I'll try to post early in the trip. I was planning on getting as many bar menus and wine lists as I can as there haven't been any published recently.

I thought qsine and le petit chef were the same thing? We are new to this restaurant as it wasn’t available on the equinox

Personally, I hated going up to the Oceanview buffet bar on the equinox in May! The bar staff frequently ignored the queue of passengers who’d bothered to get their own drinks and all served the waiters who barked orders at them! It resulted in a pissed off group of passengers and a grumpy bar staff! Not ideal!

Or an adult with a drinks package.

I would say this would be the most likely cause.

Shame to hear it persisted or put a dampener on your cruise... no pun intended :lips-sealed::lips-sealed::lips-sealed:

 

Every wine $9.00 or under is covered by the Classic, and every wine $13.00 or under is covered by the Premium. If you get a glass over the $9.00 with a Classic, you pay it all. With the Premium, go over the $13.00 and you only pay the difference.

I wonder why this is? Surely classic package should be able to pay the difference also.. like every other bar!

We also really enjoyed the gastro bar on the equinox... disappointed to hear its cellar masters instead! Definitely keeping an eye on this thread to see what others say on the removal of the machines etc or how new ones will work!

Interesting to hear everyone’s opinion on these! Seems worth it for a port day at $99 but $249 for a sea days seems crazy high for what’s offered! Personally the comments about the noise from the screen if off putting!

Similar story last month! There was a full moon party where everyone was encouraged to wear white!

But there was also a Gatsby party on one of the chic nights

Question about the wines by the glass: is anything <$10 covered under the Classic beverage package?

We ordered whatever wine we wanted but always reminded the sommelier that we were on the classic package!

He remembered our favourites by the 4th night :D Our final bill showed no additional charges for the wine served!

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: very comfortable room. We had 3 people and choose to make the sofa into a single bed. Still left plenty of room in the living area!

We also self disembarked on this cruise! All straight forward however the elevator situation got pretty bad further down the queue! We waiting approx 10-15mins which was frustrating as the elevator was so small there was no other option!

But all in all very straight forward process! Would definitely do this again!

Glad you had a great cruise. Was there any mention of who the Captain will be when Kate is on vacation? We are on the June 9 sailing and disappointed she will not be onboard.

She said in the Q&A session that she will be on holiday for the end of May to end of August!

We will be on the Equinox for this itinerary on Friday!

We sailed the week of April 7th and were very happy with the classic drink package. You could order cocktails, beer, wine and specialty coffees and tea up to $9 per drink. I was concerned that I should upgrade but found liquor brand choices were plentiful.

 

Be sure to request brand of choice or bartender will pour well brands. I enjoyed “many” Tito’s vodka and Bacardi rum cocktails and only paid an up charge at the Martini Bar on one occasion.

Anyone able to provide an update on the hookups on board equinox atm? Or failing that anyone able to update if they were able to connect an iPad or chrome cast to the tv? Thanks!

The bartenders will let you know if what you are ordering is outside of your package.

 

Great! I was wondering about this ! Wouldn’t like to assume I’d be covered by the classic only to get landed with a big bill at the end ! Lol

We have gone with Alamo as they provide the free shuttle from MIA

Don’t think we need to go near MIA as we are booked for a drop off beside the POM
