  1. We are going in Jun, and decided to do a walking tour of St George on our first day. We (active adults in mid/ late 50s) plan on taking the Orange Ferry to St George (catch at cruise pier) then walking the sites, to include unfinished church, Fort Catherine, and Tobacco Beach. We are doing the Hidden Gems through cruise ship on last (3d) day. I ordered ( free) a brochure from Bermuda travel site which has a great map.

  2. I thought Hidden Gems had cliff jumping, not sure if it is at Admirality Park. You may want to check on this before you do this on day 2, you might be able to choose something else instead.

Thanks, they are different sites, but with that said, I’m rethinking day 2. We will be going in mid June, so not sure if it will be warm enough for swimming.

  3. Hi! Currently planning a March 10th 2019 cruise and we are planning to go on the Calabaza sailing cruise for the lunch tour. Due to it being so early still and we have a group of 11, we’re still unsure who is going on this excursion and who is not.

My question is- how early did you book/how early do you think I need to book before it sells out? I know you can just book online and see what is available so yes I realize I could just keep checking every week but was just wondering how close to the cruise you booked or if you have a suggestion on when I should book by for fear of selling out.

Sorry for all the questions-Thanks for all the info guys-I realize I could just ask the tour company but didn’t want to bug them if I could find the answer here! Thanks again!!!

I tried to book for our Jan 2019 cruise in Dec and it was sold out (over a year out). I am currently wait listed, but am looking at other options.

  4. In Nov we had to grab a grey towel from pool to take off the ship. We personally, did not leave them on shore, but did notice a few left on benches during our travels. I asked upon boarding after our first time off, where to put the wet towels, and was told “your room.” I think if they had a bin when boarding to drop the towels in (wet towels can get very heavy), folks would not leave them on shore. You sure get a workout lugging them up the stairs.

  5. Didn’t see the cart in Nov on Reflection, but IMO breakfast was great. Never got tired of the offerings. Hubby ordered feta, spinach, and jalapeño omelet most days and some of the ingredients were not options on the menu. So my suggestion, ask for what you want, if they cannot Supply, they will tell you. Enjoy!

  6. Realize this is subjective, but will ask any way.

Where do others draw the line on “Per Person, Per Night” rate?

Now that I am retired and have time to cruise more often, and the flexibility, was wondering where others draw the line on their per person, per night rates.

Additionally, do you figure in “cost of perks” when figuring out your rate?

Two very different real “Examples” outlined below (both AQ Class — we normally cruise AQ ... love the intimacy of Blu vs MDR and Persian Gardens.) As you can see big difference in per person, per night rate and am now questioning myself.

14 night Caribbean Cruise, tax and fees = $4980 for two. Perks supplied: Drinks $840 (we spend approx $30.00 per person, per night on drinks/coffees), $175 OBC, plus $420 prepaid gratuities. So subtracting all perks = approx $126.60 per person, per night; or without subtracting perks = $177.85 per person, per night.

7 night Bermuda tax and fees = $3580 for two. Perks supplied: Drinks $420 (figured as above), $700 OBC. So using logic above with perks, plus adding gratuities ($210) = $190.71 per person, per night; or without perks/gratuities = $255 per person, per night.

  7. No obstruction on Reflection in 1554, just on other S-Class ships, and honestly I have cruised in an obstruced Aqua Class cabin in past, and didn't find it a problem. Enjoy the extra large balcony!

  8. Just got off the Reflection in Nov, had Cabin 1552. Absolutely amazing cabin, large angled Balcony, great room stewardess, No obstruction, great location (1 flight down from gym/Persian Gardens) ... would book again in a minute. Cabin 1554 is right next door and will be just as amazing.

  9. I've been on Silver Moon twice, last time was last month. They take 12 passengers. Have you asked if they're willing to leave a little later? They're very accommodating and it's the best cat experience I've ever had!

Yes, they will contact me if time changes. Hope I hear from them.

  10. Looking for a nice Catamaran Lunch/Snorkel in Barbados. All tours (and there are many) that I’ve looked at offer the same type of trip (turtles, shipwreck snorkel, lunch, drinks and sail — number of Catamaran tours are little overwhelming — and to top it off, trip advisor reviews are all about the same). The two on here that have recently gotten great reviews are Calabaza and Silver Moon. Calabaza is booked, so off the list. Silver Moon leaves too early, ship doesn’t get in until 0900, so will not make a 0900 meet time, so off the list unless they make a time change. All are within $25.00 difference pp (so no big deal breaker). Specifically looking for a nice sail (clean, modern, some shade/sun areas, mechanically safe, facilities — i.e., bathroom), nice snorkel (we are average skill level), nice drinks/wine (but not a booze cruise), nice music, great lunch, informative/fun crew. If you have done this type of excursion previously, which one would be your top pick?

  11. Celebrity does not have ANY June cruises, which would have been our preference. So we chose May, but the last sailing of the month (the 19th)...it won't be frigid in Bermuda, and we could get lucky with beach weather, but it's the perfect time to be in New York. So on balance it seemed like a good time.

Celebrity does have cruises in Jun, I’m scheduled to board on 10 Jun.

  12. The itinerary doable.

They don’t sell ticket booklets at the Dockyard. Only tokens and one or two day transportation passes. The only sell booklets on your itinerary in Hamilton and St. George. Tokens for the ferry and some of your bus rides will be $4.50. Your $5 fares are only if you pay with cash and that has to be exact change in coins. The shorter bus ride from Hamilton to Admiralty Park would be $2.75 ( a 3 zone token). The two day transportation pass, $31.50 would probably work best for you with your itinerary.

Thinks for the tip. Believe the 2-day pass will be best.

  13. Based on all the great advice, revamped itinerary as follows ... let me know if it is doable (or will be too rushed) and if I am missing something amazing (I.e., must do lunch stop, tourist attraction)

A ticket booklet with 15 one way tickets will be cheaper ($37.50)

Day 1 Wednesday—Take Orange Ferry from dock to St George ($5.00pp). Walking tour of St George (about 1.5 hours). Stop at unfinished church and Fort Catherine’s (opens at 10:00am, $7.00pp). Afterwards take short walk to Tobacco Beach (take snorkel gear/towel/sunblock/water with us, rent beach chairs/umbrella $35.00 for two. Have a few drinks/ snack). Head back to Orange Ferry for return to ship/early dinner ($5.00pp). After dinner (7:30) , take Blue Ferry ($5.00pp) to Hamilton to check out Harbor Nights. Take Blue Ferry back to ship ($5.00pp ... need to figure out time of last Ferry from Hamilton to Dockyard).

Day 2 Thursday — take Blue Ferry ($5.00pp) to Hamilton, then Bus #4 ($5.00pp) to Admiralty House Park for cliff jumping (take swimsuit/towel/sunblock). Return to Hamilton via Bus #4 (ask for transfer slip) and switchover to Bus #7 to Horseshoe Beach. Rent two chairs and umbrella ($45.00 for two). Have a few drinks/snack. Catch Bus #7 (5.00pp) to dockyard around 5pm.

Day 3 Friday — Hidden Gems Ship Tour (was going to do this privately, but snagged a 20% off promotion through ship). Be back on ship before departure (:

Thanks to for helping me fine tune.

  14. Fish Lover your answer is incorrect in most states. This does vary state to state but most states in the USA allow parents to serve their own children alcoholic beverages at home when at least one parent is present. Some states also allow minor children to be served at establishments, such as bars and restaurants, as long as a consenting parent is present.

If you don't believe me then try an internet search on the subject.

  15. The first night of the cruise you will have a note in your cabin stating a time for the first night only... disregards the time if it is not to your liking. Ours was 6:30,we arrived at 8:00, no problem.

Funny, ours was at 8:00 and we arrived at 6:00, no problem (:
