  1. Can I get a Catamaran Tour at The Dockyard without prearrangement? if so, are there any to avoid? Not interested in ship’s selection, so thought we would “wing it”

  2. The roof top movies are free except the food and wine pairing. We also will be on the June 15th cruise. we get to Bayonne about 10Am and never had a problem at that time. The busiest I think is about 11-noon. Looking forward to meeting you.

Hi, can you tell me a little about the food and wine paring? Can this be reserved before getting on board, and if so, is it located in the website cruise planner? Thanks to much

  3. My first ever cruise was on a Royal Caribbean ship and it hooked me on cruising. Thereafter, we found a fit on Celebrity, since there's no smoking indoors and I can actually use the casino and don't have to go "up and around" to avoid walking through it as I have to do on all Royal ships. I also prefer the level of service, the food in both the MDR and specialty restaurants, only one daily announcement, no need to pre-book shows and the Aqua class cabins and Blu on X. After taking many X cruises, DH and I saw an itinerary we liked on Royal that wasn't available on X about 4 years ago. Although we had a nice time, there were many issues that made us miss sailing with X and we agreed that we missed the service level of X.

Thanks ... just the type of info I was looking for.

  4. My wife and I did a Suite GTY and were assigned a S1, I went online and changed the cabin to a corner aft S1 loved it.

That would be idea, but unfortunately the Summit does not have any SS aft cabins.

  5. Thanks to all. TA came back with $810 total for the upgrade. Tough choice, but stuck with the AQ Aft 1141 cabin. Deciding factors: We spend a lot of time on the balcony, already have the classic drink package which is fine for us, we cruise to get away from the internet, and already have $750 in OBC. Hope I don’t kick myself later for not going for the suite.

  6. Thanks for all the replies so far. Sorry, should have made clear ... it is $900 total ($450 each). We normally Cruise in a balcony cabin (mostly in AQ) and have never been in a suite ... so don't know if the $130 a day is worth it. Not sure what to do with a butler, very happy with Blu (don't go to specialty restaurants unless it is a "special" evening, i.e., birthday etc), and have the Classic Beverage Package as a perk already. We currently have an Aft Cabin (1141 with large balcony) booked. Thanks again for all the comments. I must let TA know this afternoon.

  7. Opportunity to move from an A1 (great location) to a Sky Suite Guarantee for an additional $900.00 (would keep same perks that I have with addition of upgrade to premium beverage and internet). Cruise is a 7-day on an M Class. Is it worth it?

  8. We rely on the automatic gratuities but give our waitstaff (in Blu) and our cabin attendant an extra $20 or $30 depending upon the service. We also tip the sommelier something extra when presented with the wine bill and give our usual waiter in the Celebrity Elite cocktail hour an extra $5 or $10 (depending on the length of the cruise). The staff seems pleased with those amounts.

  9. I am a WW. I went on a 14 day Cruise in Nov and had a small weight gain ... that was OK. Knew I wouldn’t stick to point allotment when I went and was prepared for the gain. Remember WW is a lifestyle, not a diet. Durning Cruise I walked a lot, went to the gym, ate a lot of fruit, had a mudslide or two (but not every day), drank wine, danced, went on Excursions and ate in Blu every single night. Enjoy Your Cruise!

  10. IMHO, letting individuals determine if they are capable is problematic. Many folk over-estimate their skill level or stamina or ignore the fine print which results in difficulties for them on a tour and limits the experience of the in-shape and fit participants. For example, I organized a private tour with a hike in a rainforest to a series of waterfalls and clearly indicated this was a strenuous excursion only to have one lady show up in dressy flats and another with a cane (not a hiking stick) as walking was extremely difficult for her.

Guess I’m heartless ... if you clearly ignore the requirements (i.e. if the print states strenuous, walking over rough uneven surface and you show up with a cane, you get left behind.).

  11. We will be there in June and our planned itinerary is very similar to yours.

Day 1: buy a 2 day bus/ferry pass ... $31.50 each; take Orange Ferry from dock to St George’s, tour/walk St George’s (about 1.5 hours). Stop at the unfinished church, then tobacco bay beach (take snorkel gear with us) and rent beach chairs $35 for two. After a few hours, walk to St Catherine’s Fort and tour (opens at 10am, $7.00 each, walk back to Tobacco Bay beach.). Head back to ship for dinner via Orange Ferry. After early dinner catch Blue Ferry to Hamilton and check out Harbor Nights (around 7:30). Need lunch/snack/drink suggestions (thought about Tobacco Bay Beach Restaurant).

Day 2 ... take Blue Ferry to Hamilton, and catch Bus #3 to caves for exploration ($30.00 each ... 9:00-5:00); after take Bus #10 over to BAMZ ($10.00 each ... hours 9:00-4:00). Around noon, head to Horseshoe Bay via Bus #10 to Hamilton, transfer to Bus #7 ($40.00 for chairs/umbrella) for afternoon. Around 5:00 head back to Nelson Dockyard via Bus #7; walk around dockyard — my understanding everything closes down by 7:00. Back on ship for dinner. Need lunch/snack/drink suggestion.

Day 2 ... Hidden Gem tour (through cruise ship)

    Thanks for any insight.

  12. Thanks. I would just do it and not worry about their restrictions. But unfortunately, Celebrity knows our age and does not allow the sign-up.

But I will have this discussion with the Excursions desk onboard and see if they would allow an exception.

Talk to the Shore Excursion Desk personnel; we inquired why my mother (great shape for her age) could not go on a Catamaran/Snorkel Trip due to her age. They had no problem selling her a ticket. FYI: she had the best time.
