I read the post above about one checked bag on the charter flight. Do they really only allow one checked bag on the charter flight? How firm are they on that. I did try a search and this was the thread that came up (operator error, I'm sure!)
We are allowed 2 checked bags on our international flight from the US. I thought we might need them, since we will be returning with the large parkas.
Thank you for any input. We are going in January 2025, so it is coming up!

TRIBE looking for some cruise assistance.
Do any TRIBE members purchase insurance for their cruises?
I have never purchased cruise insurance in over 50 cruises but with a senior mom and our upcoming cruise being 35 days I am SERIOUSLY considering insurance.
We are NOT flying to the port, so really only interested in trip interruption and medical. Neither of us are on any meds and both healthy.
I asked this also on our current RC and I have received quotes from The Trip Insurance Store. By the way they have been VERY helpful in answering all my questions.
Right now the policy I am considering is $1500. for BOTH of us....yes that's like $750 pp or $21 per day.
Looking for fellow cruisers input. Thanks in Advance.
I apologize if this has been answered, but try InsureMyTrip dot com
hopefully, I’m not breaking any rules here.

On Monday May 27, we leave for our summer vacation. It is just my husband and me. We are doing a land vacation to Bruges, Belgium and Amsterdam. I will keep the Tribe updated on our shenanigans.
Sounds awesome! Enjoy! BTW - In Belgium don't call them French Fries and/or don't ask for French Onion Soup. Belgium invented both (according to Belgium sources there) and they get a little miffed with the French Connection....
Learned the hard way...

I’d be really happy to stop taking antihistamines. I’m still on Zyrtec, even after a steroid shot, and it totally zonks me. So weird that I can function on the Cheers package day after day, but one pill makes my body think it requires 10-12 hours of sleep. I tried yesterday to not take it, but I started itching again. I don’t even want to mention the amount of food I’ve consumed thanks to the steroid shot. 🤦🏼♀️ but the hives are gone. Gonna make chicken fried steak, squash, and macaroni for dinner tonight since I grabbed some great looking cubed steak at the grocery store. Hope everyone has a great Thursday.
Hope you recover fully soon!!

On our cruise, during the Drake Crossing there was time established for everyone to come down to the Atlas Lounge and try on your parka as well as the boots that are lent to you. Come down in base layer(s) that you plan on wearing and they will make sure your parka is perfectly sized.
I can only assume that this is the practice for all of their Antarctica cruises.
PS. The parkas are warm. We found ourselves only wearing silk-weight poly-pro pants and shirt under our parka and waterproof pants. If you haven't already done so, plan on bringing waterproof ski pants. They'll be perfect.
Additionally, we wore a neck gator and poly-pro cap in addition to gloves.
For camping or if you are just doing a zodiac cruise (you don't always have the opportunity to land), we took a slightly heaver poly-pro shirt instead of our silk-weight.
Thank you! That is super helpful We do have waterproof ski pants, we got them for an expedition cruise with Silversea that involved lots of zodiac rides and splashing 😉
It sounds like all of our underlayers for that trip will be sufficient for this one. We will need to get gloves for this one tho...........

Another question, how did the sizes for the parkas run? Are they large, true to size?
Thank you!

Hello!
We are signed up for the Jan 5, 2025 Antarctica cruise and are very excited about this trip!
I do have a question about the parkas - Do they run true to size? do they run large? do they run small?
Thank you!
