  1. Yes correct flights. Thank you. However the ticket indicates "self transfer" and says we will have to claim our bags, check in for the connecting flight and go through security. Being Schengen, we won't have to clear customs in Madrid. However it still is a bit more involved having to claim bags from Aegean and get to the international terminal to check in for the Iberia flight. It would be easier if there was an early morning flight on Iberia to MAD. I see there is one now but it does not show up in March '24.
  2. The only non stop flights from San Juan (SJU) to anywhere in Europe that i can find are on Iberia to Madrid (MAD). The flights do not operate every day - at least in February/March 2024. No problem as we can work around that. Our outbound destination is Rome. We will stay overnight in Madrid in order to catch an Iberia flight with arrival in Rome the next morning. Again no problem. My question is regarding our return from Athens. There is no Iberia flight from Athens which would arrive in time for the Iberia flight back from MAD to SJU. The ONLY flight early enough to make the connection in MAD is a morning Aegean Air flight with a 3 hr 35 min connection. The Aegean flight is domestic arriving in T1 or T2 MAD. There is no code share between Aegean and Iberia so we would have to collect our bags in the Domestic terminal and transport them ourselves to check in and go through security in T4 the International terminal. Is 3 hours enough time to do this? We are early 70's in age, mobile but slower - running through a terminal does not happen.
  3. Depends on which cruise line and what time passengers are allowed to embark. We sail Viking Ocean. Boarding time begins at 11 am no matter what cabin class or country from which we sail. Takes about 15 minutes to board.
  4. Had an American flight with a 3 hr 15 min layover in Miami. AA changed the departure time of our connecting flight reducing layover to 1 hr 50 min. We were concerned but there was no other AA flight until the next morning. We missed our connection due to the insanely long lines in Miami. At least it was on the way home.
  5. On MVJ at the top right is an icon that looks like a head and shoulders. Click on it and then Account and Request Invoice. Viking will email it to your email on record. List of ports with arrival and departure times should be on page 3. This invoice also contains your charges/payments of course as well as dates when you are able to reserve excursions, specialty restaurant reservations and spa treatments. If you used a TA, you have to get it from them. You want the Viking guest invoice not one on the TA's letterhead. I have always found the times to be fairly accurate.
  6. Five and a half hours at airport is a bit much. However we got to that airport 3 hours before our flight and it was so packed and loooong lines for check in and security that we barely made our flight - and our flight was delayed by a half hour.
  7. Thank you. Thats one MVJ tab I don't look at because I don't use Viking Air.
  8. SORRY everyone. I have no idea why so many of my replies posted. The last one was edited to ask a question. Oh well...
  9. Usually completing a transfer request means you will be charged the per person transfer fee. Scheduling a transfer included in a pre or post extension when not using Viking Air has only required our TA to advise Viking of our arrival flight information. When we didn't use a TA, all we did is tell our Viking agent our flight info. Is there now a form to complete for an included transfer?

  13. Kent, One can say our TA gives us a better cruise price then Viking. Both TA cruises I booked gave us X$ off the Viking cost of the cruise in the form of a TA voucher which reduced the cruise price up front. This was in addition to the maximum allowable OBC for the length of each cruise. If we used our TA from the git go (5 cruises) we would have been over $5,000+ (or 1 cruise fare) richer!
  14. To be a bit picky here. Hotel transfers are NOT included in the price of the cruise. They ARE included in the price of the pre or post cruise extension and in the cost of Viking Air. The cost of each - pre, post or air is itemized separately on our Guest Invoice. If one does not have a pre, post or air through Viking, then one can purchase a Viking transfer IF they arrive at the airport on embarkation day or wish to go to the airport on disembarkation day
  15. Or included in the price of that cabin category. Also PV cabins and above get a bottle of champagne but it is NOT replenished daily.
  16. What you get in the mini bar fridge is what you get on a daily basis according to cabin category whether or not you have the SSP. If you are in a V cabin, you only get what is in your fridge on the first day - no refills unless you pay for it. In DV cabin you get your soft drinks replenished once a day for free. If you are in PV or higher cabin, you get your soft drinks, alcohol bottles and beer replenished daily for free. No matter what cabin category, you can request what you like. If you want all Sprite and no Cola, ask your room steward. If you want all Vodka and no Gin, ask.
  17. Not that I have seen but I haven't followed any Expedition or River stuff.
  18. If the ship docks in Cadiz, Gilbralter is much too far unless you want to be in a bus for 1.5 hours each way. Cadiz is literally across the street from the dock. We took an afternoon ship walking tour of Cadiz but that is easily done on your own. In the park right across the street there is a board with different color walking routes that one can take. We also took an excursion in the morning to Vejer de la Frontera, an absolutely delightful and charming white city way up in the hills. Seville is a possibility but we felt it was too much driving and too little time there for what we wanted to do and see. We loved Gilbralter but our ship docked there so it was easy.
  19. Bed faces Aft according to the bed orientation document. So i think that means the head is forward and the feet are aft which would put the bed to the right when you enter cabin. 1175426345_BeddirectiononOceanShip.pdf
  20. This is not clear. Your cruise is stopping at Cadiz AND Gilbralter? OR you are trying to decide which cruise you want to book - one that stops in Cadiz or one that stops in Gilbrator?
  21. I include guide/excursion info all the time including names and websites. We are not allowed to BE a guide or service provider advertising on CC but sharing what we did and who we used is what CC is all about.
  22. Is that an excursion that you learned about from the Viking staff at the 2-day extension hotel?
  23. I would suggest relying on Viking Air PARTIALLY. But taking command of your fate. Research all the flight combos possible to get you where you need to be. Know what your best case scenario might be. Have each airline website either bookmarked or their app downloaded. Don't be clueless, take charge if necessary.
  24. I was sad to see the new menu as they eliminated many pasta dishes. Liked all the seafood with pasta choices.
