  1. I'm a voracious reader and I prefer real books.  The rotary club in our area has a sale twice/year where they offer 6,000 - 7,000 books for $2 each.  Proceeds go to charity so everyone wins especially me!

  2. You must be thrilled.  We are expecting to wait an hour when we go next Wed as that was what it was like the last time.  The mistake we made was coming at the time of the appt.  On Wed we will do like others did and get there a half hour early.

So now you can get on with planning your next cruise!

Oct 2021 on Eurodam. 27 days TA Venice to fly lauderdale.

Looks like HAL is expecting 2100 passengers

    On this cruise.

Sounds great.  Venice is such a beautiful place and it's good you get to sail from there.  I have heard of them closing the port to cruise ships.  We have never sailed with HAL.  I love long cruises.

I am happy to have looked for this thread, too.  I have learned so much!

Our October 2021 TA was cancelled so we just booked Celebrity Beyond's 2022 TA.  We have never sailed a TA before nor have we sailed on a brand new ship so it is double the fun for us.

Can anyone who has sailed Celebrity TAs offer an idea of sea day activities to us?  We have sailed Celebrity almost exclusively in the Caribbean and Mediterranean and are familiar with trivia, but that's about it since those sailings are port intensive.

    Thanks so much!

We have sailed 6 TA's on Celebrity over the years.  We really do love those sea days where you don't have to get up early for an excursion.  Believe it or not, we were 17 days without a port on the Eclipse last March when everything fell apart and none of the ports in South America would allow us in and we were not bored, worried, yes but nor bored.

On sea days,  Celebrity has several Trivia games, cooking demos, lectures, art and dancing classes, matinees on some days.  I often have to make a decision between two activities that are at the same time.  There is also nothing like reading a book on your balcony, breathing the lovely sea air.  I am sure you will not be bored.

.  By 9am the site crashed.  She's getting it this Thursday.  I can book my second one June 28th.

We are also booked for our second, June 9.  We couldn't believe how fast the bookings were disappearing when we booked.  You would select a time and by the time you got to book it, it was gone! It will be a wonderful feeling to have both of them.

  6. We are also booked for our second, June 9.  We couldn't believe how fast the bookings were disappearing when we booked.  you would select a time and by the time you got to book it, it was gone!  Glad to see so many anxious to be fully vaccinated.

I agree with middlehaitch that Sept is too soon to sail.  We cancelled our booking.

  7. In all the cruising we have done, we have never added on a pre/post cruise stay.  They are too expensive.  I'm sure they're great, though, for people who do not have the confidence to plan and do things on their own.  $2000/pp for 2 days in Tokyo seems very high.  I do see that hotels are very expensive there.

  8. Celebrity is now all included, so to compare properly, you need to factor in the added perks, classic beverage pkg, unlimited wifi, gratuities and $500 or so OBC depending on who you book through.  having said this, I am not in favour of the all included bundling and I wish they would go back to the older way of pricing.

We met an Aussie and a Spanish couple on a Transpacific. We gave them the 2 bit tour of Vancouver as they were staying in Vancouver for a few days.  They got to see and do all the local things like dim sum, totem carving with sister sister city in Japan, Burnaby village etc.

Everytime we do a return to Vancouver cruise we always give a Vancouver tour to people we meet. Great way to build world friendship.

What a wonderful thing to do for your new friends.

  10. Thank you Miaminice for the great review.  i have copied down some of your tips.   our cruise is an Asia intensive so we do not visit as many of the Japanese ports as you did.  We hope to be there end of April next year.

  11. Well, I sure hope you get to go to Australia some day.  The first time we were there, we felt we had come home!  really loved it.  New Zealand, we found really quaint.  I would go again in a heartbeat.  In fact, we will be at the tail end of a B2B that many are on.  We are only doing the one segment from Honolulu to Vancouver.  It will be fun to talk to all the Aussies on that cruise (May 2023, Eclipse).
